WTF? An overwhelming majority of demonstrators supported Barack Obama in 2008. Really?
Don't take this wrong but if you are the 99% I think I'm changing sides.
No reason to go jump ship just yet. This 'media spin issue' is one of the reasons we're all out here and the very reason we have our own media services. Between the links below, you'll find statistics on the bailout issue in 2008. What you won't get is an idea of which report is telling the truth. Unless I literally poll myself, there's no way I'd trust either.
Frankly, what I hear from the movement, in both independent media and on the streets, is that the only ones in favor of the bailouts were those at the receiving end thereof and the only ones looking to reelect Obama are the ones that can't see that he's only trying to win over the swing-vote by siding with us. As far as support for Obama went, all I can say is, if the stats are true, that there had to be somebody to trust, especially after the Bush era. Could simply have been misguided faith. We'll probably never know either way, unless we ask the masses on the streets, one by one, and get direct feedback.
Seriously, though, who really believes that these guys are going to do what they say they can do? I've lived through 6 presidents and not a single one of them ever met their campaign objectives. On the contrary, they've all sorely failed ('cept maybe Clinton. He did balance the Federal budget and eliminate the deficit, not barring scandal).
However, even if the majority of protesters had sided with the president in '08, there's no love for him on the streets today. He's lied, misrepresented and now he's back with more lies and misrepresentation in an attempt to hold office beyond 2012.
