Forum Post: Our corrupt political system is the root! Wall street is a symptom!

As long as we keep our current corrupt political system that allows big money to buy out political leaders that make the laws nothing will change. They made the laws to not regulate banks, and wall street and when they went broke because of their greed they passed the laws to bail them out. You can look at almost every ill this country has today and trace it back to our corrupt political system. That should be the main idea being presented, and that is an idea that everyone can support. How to do that is the question, but that is where our energy and discussions should be focused.

It's the proverbial CART before the HORSE. 50% of the 99% are going to say, "Go after Wall Street first!!!" Then, the other 50% of the 99% are going to say, "Go after Washington D.C. first!!!" This dilemma, however, is easily remedied. The 99% consists of 300 Million people against a few thousand greedy elite bastards. I say we "Go after them BOTH!!!"

I'm creating docs to file with my local grand jury, so they can indict our public servants. I've had it, and I'm done waiting for someone to step up to the plate. The docs will be made available for anyone else who chooses to go this route.

I'll be posting the crimes at www.WeRoar.ws/freespeak/ in the forum

The two are tied together,. the same people walking back and forth between the two (one?) power structures,. the force that corrupts we all know is money (power),. but god forbid anyone talk about limits to wealth, oh no! That is "just not american",. or what the powers that be push as what it means to be american.., the money tends to come from or thorough Wall St. and yes it has corrupted the political system, at all levels. Why not a minimum as well as a maximum income? Everyone gets 1000 dollars a month,. to live. No one can earn more than 10 million in a year. (1 million works for me, I am just being generous for people that work for years on a project and sell something all at once,. writers, performers, inventors, bonsi tree farmers, painters, .etc.) you can generate the money,. however if you "make" over the limit, everything over, for lack of a better word, would be "taxed" and reinvested into the community. If anyone can argue these limits I would love to hear a justification as to why either is unacceptable.

Limits on Wealth = Limits on Corruption.

I don't agree with limits on wealth from a legal standpoint - though morally I understand it's appeal. I believe that it IS un-American to limit people's income and there would be many negative unintended consequences to something like that. There are people with much wealth that do good things with it. Hating the wealthy or hating money is not the answer. It's about RESPONSIBILITY! It's about people not being allowed to use their money to BUY our government or to destroy our land/ environment. Not being able to use their money to trample on someone else. Sure, they'll still have yatchs and we won't - and that's fine. Luxuries are there and if you have enough money, go at it. Not my problem.

But we must not lose sight of the fact that money is just a thing, it is a symbol. It's how people USE it that matters. Even if you limited income, the same corruptions of our government system would be possible through cronyism and exchange of favors. Government can be bought with much more than money! So, let's not legislate money per se, as much as we should legislate how much of a role it can play in our governmental processes and in buying someone patches of land to destroy and contaminate.

p.s. I think many people work hard on their small businesses and inventions BECAUSE they know the sky's the limit. Without that open-ended freedom to achieve (including financially) as much as your sweat will let you achieve, we would lose out of many great minds and innovations. We would not want that. Get rich. Get filthy rich. That's not a problem. Just don't buy my congressman or my president with it. Just don't pollute our land with it, and we're good.

10 million a year in not enough? If someone wants more than that,. then I am sorry they are just greedy bastards. No one needs more than this,. you can buy ten different million dollar mansions each year at this level! If you want to work on a larger project (space exploration, say) to would need to band together with others to do it, polling monies. Why would that be a bad thing?

I don't hate on the rich, I just see them as disgusting, greedy and destructive,. and it is a fact that they are taking food from the mouths of others. We live on a planet with limited resources,. we should not have a monetary and a financial system that denies this basic fact. This leads to the destructive events we are seeing more and more now.

The corrupt politicians know the laws, they put the loop holes. Remember the majority are lawyers.

Absolutely! This should be the only goal, the only demand. If this is accomplished, all the policy issues can be handled via our democratic system, as intended.

Well said. If we could focus all of this energy into reforming our corrupt political system we could get the entire country behind it. No one has a argument to support defend it, so the only question is how to do it. Which could lead to a national discussion and a true democratic process! As you said, once that is addressed all the other issues could be dealt with be an honest representative congress!

It is time for all of us that our proud of our country to take it back from the crooked Corporations and the politicians that they have bought.

We need leaders who are honest, intelligent and care about the people that elected them. We all need to band together, right, left, the tea party and everyone else and demand that they are doing the work for the best of our country.

We have to spend more of our resources to catch and prosecute all of the crooks on Wall Street, Washington and hold all of our leader accountable. If a politician is caught taking a bribe then they should be jailed for a decade along with the person handing our the bribe.

This seems to be the general consensus around here. I hope they run with it.
