OWS has shown that money can be raised. Why not raise as much as possible and use it to circumvent the inept mortgage modification machine in the US and help people who are about to lose their homes. In many cases they are delinquent and all they need is a few thousand dollars to keep their home. This would have a huge ripple effect. 1. Many people would keep their homes and bolster the economy by default. 2. Gain popularity and more support for having actually accomplished a meaningful agenda. 3. Raise the eye brows of the ruling 1% and instill fear in them, thereby forcing them to capitulate in other matters. Strength in numbers. Numbers of supporters and numbers of dollars.
You are on the right track. The dollars really add up.

The damage economically is when 1 million people save $0.50 on a hammer made in China. That cost is American jobs. Problem is that there are no labels and no guilt. Today's economic problems are like trying to like trying to prove that smoking causes cancer. It will be too late when we realize and the damage is systemic and irreversable
technically you may be right yet cigarette smoke doesn't cause cancer. Otherwise all of those 97 year old smokers would have cancer. But anyway that's another conversation. Still it is a true analogy. I agree that fifty cent hammers killing us. I am for open trade except when the seller employs child labor and controls the value of their currency. We must stop trading with China until they capitulate and embrace a true free system.
Cigs cause cancer or emphysema, also addiction to nicotine. Its very rare for one after a lifetime of smoking to to have illness from it
Cigarettes are definitely bad for us and they pave the way for a myriad of illnesses, you are correct. In and of themselves they do not cause cancer, though. There are parts of the world where 5 year olds start smoking and live long and healthy lives. There are also people that have lung cancer that have never smoked or breathed second hand smoke. Cigarettes are one of the contributing factors, of which food is the number one contributor.
Lets collect money and send more people to egypt!
I think that this plan is as ridiculous as believing that getting rid of Mubarak was getting rid of the army that employed him. A total waste of donations and man hours. It also works as a negative with respect to the media coverage. Why would disgruntled Americans presume to have the ability and fortitude to oversee anything in Egypt.
arrogance?
And now exactly what we thought would happen, happened. Occupy Wall St getting evicted with violence excuse.
Giving more money to the banks is not a constructive action.
i'm open
Iceland defaulted (bankruptcy). Argentina defaulted. This is how to deal with a corrupt economic system that has leveraged every square inch of the planet and all the people on it. Stop paying them.
Starting a charity to help people sounds like a lot better idea than sitting in parks complaining. I think it's a great idea. Obviously, some paperwork and bureaucracy involved, but no reason such an effort couldn't be made.
It would require some seed money (to establish acceptable procedures for collecting and receipting money, and establishing a 501 C 3, etc). Maybe ows could share some of it's bankroll to get it started.
That's the idea.
No way. Then you'd be helping the banks that caused that mess.
How? They can have the money we signed for. But we will teach all of our kids to sign with someone else. They will know we're right because we didn't let them foreclose on our house.
Call it "Money for the People"
Just send it to me. I'l take care of it. Don't worry.
Its broad based so i am for it. Thatbis why it works

How do you keep it out of the hands of the Spokes Council who is hell bent on embezzling it toward the marxist radicals behind the movement?
