It would take 5.5 million square feet (over 100 football fields) to have enough solar energy to do the same.

Solar and wind are a joke. Did anyone plead for more windmills/solar panels following Sandy? No, they needed gasoline to run generators. OIL.

It aint going away.

How do you think the hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel was made? By 5.5 million square feet of plants, absorbing the solar energy, and storing that energy deep in the earth a few million years ago.

Something tells me a leech like you would be screaming for a fossil fuel generator if you lost electricity. Hilarious!

I would prefer a liquid Hydrogen Generator - but shucks - there aren't any on the market at this point in time.

Hey, you can make your own - just go to youtube and type in "hydrogen generation" and you can find all the info you need and so can othe people.

But they are just too lazy to do so.

You forgot to mention that to maintain those solar panels only require one person so can't expect economic growth doing that.

Diesel fuel saved lives. Where was wind and solar? Nowhere to be seen.

It was only because people did not prepare for Sandy although Irene should have set off the alarm last year. Solar-powered chargers for cellular phones, transistor radios, flashlights, etc. could have kept people informed of where help was available. Also Katrina-Rita in New Orleans should have also set off alarms years ago about the problems that massive flooding can bring to any city. Some feel that it was black vs. white that made restoration slow but really mother nature is very much color-blind with her fury. Beware, all who are not prepared have prepared for their suffering.
