Our One Demand

We should compose a contract, simply called THE PEOPLE'S CONTRACT. Present it as a legal document and expose it to the public. Then find an intelligent, willing and suitable candidate to run for office on that contract that will step up, sign it, campaign on it and they will probably have the backing of the masses.

THE PEOPLE'S CONTRACT will contain a list of REPEALS the people DEMAND:

1.the Reagan income tax cut of 1981 that benefitted the rich, but made it necessary to sharply raise all other federal taxes, paid mostly by the poor and the middle class, to finance that tax cut.

2.Unenforced antitrust laws, leading to mergers among large and profitable firms, but killing high-paying jobs in numerous industries.

3.Permitting the oil industry mergers in the 1990s that are now preventing oil prices from falling in the worst slump since the 1930s.

4.Permitting relentless mergers among pharmaceuticals and health insurance companies, so that America, far more than any other nation, now spends almost 15 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) on health care that is mediocre by European and Japanese standards.

5.Unchecked use of outsourcing that kills high-paying jobs in manufacturing and services.

6.Ignoring the growth of the trade deficit that has destroyed our manufacturing base.

7.The 1999 repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act under President Clinton that led to reckless lending by bands and an unprecedented housing bubble, which collapsed in 2007 to trigger the ongoing slump.

8.The Bush tax cuts and bailouts that further benefitted the rich while nearly doubling the government debt.

9.The decimation of the real minimum wage by President Reagan and other Republicans. (In 1981, the hourly minimum wage bought $8 worth of goods compared to $6 by the end of Reagan's presidency in 1988, and to a mere $5.15 in 2006 under Bush.)

In addition to the above repeals, new laws will be enacted with some amended to the Constitution:

1.No person, corporation or business entity of any type, domestic or foreign, shall be allowed to contribute money, directly or indirectly, to any candidate for Federal office or to contribute money on behalf of or opposed to any type of campaign for Federal office. getmoneyout.com

2.All work conducted within our government shall be made transparent to the public.

3.All Federal laws shall be enforced and must be investigated should problems arise. There will be no exemptions. No time limits shall be set for previous conduct within the banking industry and Wall Street.

4.Personhood shall be withdrawn as a legal status for corporations.

5.Citizens United shall be considered unlawful and will be abolished.

  1. Signatory process shall begin enactment of this contract upon winning election.

This legal contract will be begin the process of enactment into law immediately upon election of this candidate!

This will be revised and rewritten several times, hopefully with more of your ideas, until it can be sent to a law firm for editing in legal term, that is, if consensus wants to use this idea. I put this together after reading an articulate and informative article (above) by an economist, Ravi Batra, who explains in layman's term how we got into this plummeting economic situation. He suggested presenting his list of repeals to Obama as an agenda, which gave me the idea to, instead, make it a legal contract and select an outside candidate who is not tarnished within the government establishment. The legal contract idea came from Grover Norquist; so kudos to him! I put it on the forum earlier and received more fabulous suggestions of what may be included.

Please feel free to list more WITHOUT REDUNDANCY, please.

Sasha, someone with more ideas on this forum, mentioned to me a brilliant lawyer who has exposed the corruption within the banking debacle, but cannot proceed with any investigation because the people who committed those crimes have been allowed to stay in their positions. His name is William K. Black (google him), and wouldn't it be great if he would devise this contract when it is complete.

We can have a unified cause to protest on!

This is our demand:

THE PEOPLE'S CONTRACT

My frustration is that it seems like elected officials are not doing what the majority of Americans want them to do. I'm really interested in knowing American's opinions of issues. Is there a good polling site that clearly shows the top 10 issues based on poll respondents and the poll results of the top 10 issues (e.g., foreign wars, social security, campaign finance, etc.)? Seems to me we should be using (and making the media) use the results of such a polling site to put pressure on elected representatives by comparing their voting records with the majority of American's preferences. This would highlight when an Elected representative is influenced by something other than the majority of Americans and they should be made to explain why. I think we have the best system in the world but we need ways to make it clear how most American's feel on their most important issues and to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions.

I think you have a valid point but most polls are skewed and elected representatives are hindered by big business's influence! This is yet another reason to getmoneyout.com

Many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

http://getsatisfaction.com/americanselect/topics/on_strategic_legal_policy_organizational_operational_structures_tactical_investment_procedures

Join

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/StrategicInternationalSystems/

because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org to support a Presidential Candidate -- such as any given political opportunist you'd like to draft -- in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Congress replacing the "old" Congress according to your current Occupation & Generation, called a Focused Direct Democracy.

Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet; it's the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under, in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing & Group Investment Power, that's important. In this, sequence is key.

Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.

The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.

Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupation & Generation.

So please JOIN the 2nd link so we can make our support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for, at exactly the right time, by an e-mail from that group, in support of the above the bank-focused platform. If so, then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the above strategy as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your current Occupation & Generation.

WHEN will "atki4564 " stop spamming the site by posting this SAME comment all over the place?

[-] 1 points by atki4564 (1259) from Lake Placid, FL 12 years ago

First, everyone has the right to reply -- once -- to a new thread, and then again to anyone who responds therein again. That's called free speech; to do otherwise is to walk down the slippery slope toward dictatorship. Is dictatorship what you really want?

Second, put yourself in my shoes, it's very tough when you need to get 100,000 people to join a group web site so that, at exactly the right time, you can email them to give 100,000 support clicks at AmericansElect.org in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Third, OWS needs to be about ACTIONS that WORK, not mere words, like so many other groups in the past, or it will fail, like so many other groups in the past.

[-] 1 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

But don't you realize that by spamming you are probably TURNING OFF more people than you are attracting to your cause? Your method is thus a double-edged sword.

[-] 1 points by atki4564 (1259) from Lake Placid, FL 12 years ago

You obviously didn't read the second point, MORE people are joining. Besides, what you propose is a failed solution of the past, and will therefore fail again, so propose "new" ACTIONS that WORK -- EVERYWHERE YOU CAN.

We already have a peoples contract. We need to amend it. The US constitution.

We need an Article V convention.

Congress is very afraid of it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Convention_to_propose_amendments_to_the_United_States_Constitution "Congress acted preemptively to propose the amendments instead. At least four amendments (the Seventeenth, Twenty-First, Twenty-Second, and Twenty-Fifth Amendments) have been identified as being proposed by Congress at least partly in response to the threat of an Article V convention."

Our first right in our contract is Article V, the right to have congress convene delgates when 2/3 of the states have applied for an amendatory convention.

Article. V.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.END

Lots of facts here about Article V. http://algoxy.com/poly/article_v_convention.html

[-] 1 points by Gylliwynn (56) 12 years ago

I understand what you're saying here with the amendments. But how many citizens do you think will educate themselves to reading this and understand it. If you put something out to the masses as a concise list of proposals, written in layman's term (but in legal form for ratifying, at least for a candidate to have to legally adhere to so the process has a chance to come to fruition), then you may have the support to make it happen.

[-] 1 points by ChristopherABrown (550) from Santa Barbara, CA 12 years ago

Free speech is abridged, so there is no way to "put something out to the masses". The internet is over information, "how many citizens do you think will educate themselves"?

It is time for citizens to start putting pressure on each other to read, or shgut up. Because when they participate in confusion, they are by default working against the constitution. Such was the design of the nwo and you can see it working on this forum.

[-] 1 points by Gylliwynn (56) 12 years ago

Yes, I agree, and I have been seeing it on this forum. I'm only putting out an idea to implement a process.

[-] 1 points by ChristopherABrown (550) from Santa Barbara, CA 12 years ago

What needs to manifest, starting small, is citizens social pressure on citizens to give their opinion on Article V and its implimentation. If people don't know, then pressure them to educate themselves.

No complaining without educating themselves into soution to the problems they complain about. Their complaints are actually impeding the support and defence of the constitution. At some point, it is completely justified that citizens get angry at other citizens for being ignorant and compulsively involving themselves with useless complaints that have no solution and no strategy articulated.
