When it's said that it wasn't borrowing and spending on public works but the war that ended the great depression, they're really saying war is the only excuse to borrow and spend in order to jump start a dying economy. That is: they promote human sacrifice as the only legitimate means of appeasing the capitalist god. There's Friedman - Rand - Reagan for you.
Well, at least those who have their grubby little mitts involved in war.
It is really warped that half of our society really believes that the WPA sucked. Especially considering the number of people that it helped. It would almost be funny if it wasn't so damn sad watching people attempt to reinvent history.
