This is a proposal for the general assemblies of the Occupy movement.

On October 29, on the eve of the G20 Leaders Summit in France, let's the people of the world rise up and demand that our G20 leaders immediately impose a 1% #ROBINHOOD tax on all financial transactions and currency trades. Let's send them a clear message: We want you to slow down some of that $1.3-trillion easy money that's sloshing around the global casino each day – enough cash to fund every social program and environmental initiative in the world.

Take this idea to your local general assembly and join your comrades in the streets on October 29.

This is a fantastic idea. Working on healing the environment that has been raped and pilaged by the super rich, and helping the poorest of the poor first, would be two great big steps in the right direction. There are many huge and important issues, but please let's think about the 30,000 who die everyday of hunger, not because of any food shortage, but because they have no money. Wall street speculators are screwing the poorest of the poor too. Our hearts are designed to do much more than pump blood. Let's please get behind this!

Agreed! This is a brilliant idea that 99% of the world can rally behind. If Occupy Wall Street helps win such a victory the movement will grow as popular as Robinhood in a woods full of starving peasants. At some point OWS will have to move beyond camping out and show that we can turn outrage into life supporting change and justice. And as icing on the cake, this tax on rampant speculative trades may just slow down the rampant gambling in the financial casinos.
