Forum Post: Occupy Wall Street's Purpose

Posted 11 years ago on Dec. 20, 2012, 12:16 a.m. EST by TrevorMnemonic (5827)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Is not about supporting politicians that are giving billions of dollars to Goldman Sachs and trillions to the rest of Wall Street.

I'm getting sick of the co-opt on this forum.

No the bailouts were not a solution. A solution to the problems in our economy does not entail giving money to Wall Street. No, monetary policy giving unlimited resources to Wall Street is not acceptable. Wall Street and many huge corporations have corrupted the government and are destroying the voice of the people they've exploited.

To the co-opters, go ahead and downvote me all over the forum like you have been... your lack of a response where you downvote just shows you have no argument.

To the rest of you, good night! One day we will have true peace.

I agree with the OWS list of grievances.

Here are a few issues I find to be very important. This is a brief summation.

Constitutional Amendment banning large and corporate/business campaign contributions. Full public financing of elections to help remove corruption from political campaigns. Constitutional amendment to boot the electoral college as well. Equal exposure for candidates. Overall political reform. Etc.

Monetary reform similar to HR 2990, The NEED Act. Stop giving unlimited resources to Wall Street and focus it on main street. We're talking trillions of dollars here.

End the wars now and use the future tax revenue for education and healthcare purposes. We're talking trillions of dollars here.

Reform trade laws and ban imports which exploit workers for CEO profits. This would mean if you want to sell goods in this country, American labor standards would apply to imports and you have to be able to prove your workers overseas are not being exploited. It'd be like applying for a permit and it would need to be renewed every year. It is illegal to bring heroin to the states from a foreign country. It should be illegal to bring in goods which exploit human beings. This would help bring back our manufacturing base and remove it from the growing full embrace of China. As well as bring back jobs stolen through NAFTA and other horrible trade policies that have been manipulated by corporate interests.

Seek a criminal prosecution of the big banks for millions of acts of fraud, unlike our current system which is giving the men doing it a free pass.

OH and the most important. A living wage law.

Those are a few simple solutions to some of the many problems.

Saying the wars are because of fighting an enemy is a lie first of all. Iraq had nothing to do with fighting Al Qaeda. The government has us at war in Afghanistan for trillions in resources, "that's trillions with an S." - David Petraeus. They're killing more civilians in Pakistan than they are killing people who pose an actual threat to citizens in the USA says Stanford Law and the NYU School of Law.

If you look at Cheney's pentagon policies dating back to 1992 you will better understand the reasons they took the USA to war in these places.

There is no secret underground state of the art cave.

If we withdrew from the countries the USA is in and reformed our trade laws, we would drastically decrease the number of foreigners that hate the USA.

I do not support any policy that finds exploiting people acceptable. Slave labor kept goods cheap back in the day, that was not an excuse to allow slavery. I find your remark about cost of goods insulting as a justification for the current forms of sweat shop labor overseas.

Sorry under a system I'm talking about, there would not be a 1%.

In our current system, you can't trust the banks.

Sorry, there is no excuse or justification to continue to outsource all of our manufacturing to places that exploit human beings so CEO's can pocket more money.

Why aren't the Nike's made in China cheaper than my shoes made in the USA? Of course this does not apply to all products made overseas, but it should put a point across.

Monetary reform will also increase the purchasing power of the dollar as well as provide for more employment which puts more consumers in our consumer based economy.

Iraq is fucked = fact. The Iraq war is one of the biggest blights in American history in my opinion. Hundreds of thousands of innocent people dead and the country is still in turmoil. That was not a solution to the Saddam problem.

The most ironic part of it all was the oil contracts got outbid by the Chinese, so they didnt even get what they went in for.

Inflation is kicking the consumers ass. They're paying way more money now for manufactured Chinese toys than they were back in 60's.

Not to forget that the loss of manufacturing jobs took consumers out of the economy which means less money going into it.

Iraq was not about democracy. It's about re-establishing a government that will get us better oil prices and don't threaten the dollar. Cheney policy dating back over 20 years.

If it was ever about saving civilians or establishing democracy, why not help the millions who have died over the years in Congo? Why not fight against those corrupting and hijacking democracy here in the states?

Go research it online. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Iran have nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. Like I said David Petraeus full on said we are still in Afghanistan because of trillions in resources.

Destabilization often causes radicalization.

Hillary Clinton even said "you have to remember, we're fighting the same people the government funded 20 years ago."

A "crusade" is not the way to respond to the 9/11 attacks. Which evidence suggests the administration had prior knowledge of

It was disgruntled men who took their anger and madness out on innocent civilians.

Killing innocent people in pursuit of a political agenda makes you a terrorist in my opinion.

Also again I must point out, I have no problem with the "seize the bad guys." That's not what they're doing though. They're in these countries for ulterior motives, like oil and money.

Later. I'm done talking with trolls trying to impose internet twist tactics. I've had enough. I thought we were having a legit conversation at first.

You cough it up. I believe warmonger chicken hawks have their own forum where they preach for a crusade. You should preach it there.

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

The reason they gave for their actions did not make logical sense. Killing innocent civilians is not acceptable behavior. You won't even answer your own question even though you have your own answer.

Here is a fact check in regards to your constant support of the Iraq war

IT WAS BASED ON LIES

And so is Afghanistan.

If it were ever about saving civilians they would have done something about the millions dying in Congo.

In regards to you comment below.

You think I deny 9/11?

What the fuck does that even mean?

9/11 was real. I can't explain to you why people would want to kill innocent civilians outside of taking their anger out on the wrong people. There was no justification for their actions. Saying there is a justification for what they did is an insult to all the people they killed.

So when you asked "What was the reason for 9/11?" - I don't have an answer for you. There is nothing to justify killing innocent civilians. So you got the answer I gave you.

What was the reason for 9/11?

No Cheney lies on the forum please.

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

Again, this perpetual war is not about stopping terrorism. It's been about trillions in Afghanistan, oil in Iraq, and the threat to the dollar in Iran.

The corrupt use the terrorism as a mask. There is no praising Cheney policy here.

the reason for 9/11 was clintons response to the feb. 1993 bombing of the wtc by muslims. his response was weakeness.

How do you end the war if enemy keeps fighting?

Vadal Gore illuminates below.

perpetual war is the greatest enemy.

We got osama. We got the terrorists.

There will always be Rogue-individuals, or groups that hate.

Please take the time to read through this idea, all posts/replies with an open mind. It might seem a little complicated, but I truly believe it can be the cure to these issues and more.
