Forum Post: Occupy Wall Street must Fight the Build-up to WWIII

Posted 12 years ago on Dec. 25, 2011, 9:47 p.m. EST by riethc (1149)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

As bad as things are now, they can get worse. A new war is brewing in the Middle East, as Syria and Iran are threatened with an attack by US/NATO forces. A war of this kind will likely drag Russia and China in as they are already positioning their militaries against further Western encroachment in Asia.

This war is the greatest threat to us all. Regardless of ideology or alliances, please heed these words. We must inform ourselves and inform others to this threat. World war must be prevented.

Re. "Fight the Build-up to WWIII" and re. Iran : Some hard facts may bring some 'Light' to matters, rather than all the unpleasant 'Heat' being generated by the constant fear and loathing :

a) Iran has The World's 3rd Largest known 'Total' & 2nd Largest 'Liquid' Oil Reserves : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_reserves_in_Iran ,

b) Iran has The Worlds 2nd Largest known Gas Reserves : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_gas_reserves_in_Iran

c) Further consider and cogitate upon the fact that in Feb. 2008, Iran opened a Hydro-Carbon Bourse at The Kish Mercantile Exchange (see http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article11613.htm and also http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article28646.htm ) - trading in a basket of currencies, including Euros, Roubles, Yuan and Iranian Rial BUT NOT in U$ Dollar$ and thereby challenging both Reserve Currency, Dollar "HegeMoney" as well as the Monopoly of the existing Oil and Petroleum Bourses.

d) The Iranian Central Bank is State Controlled & Entirely Government Owned and NOT Privately Owned [ http://blogs.wsj.com/corruption-currents/2011/12/15/senate-passes-sanctions-on-irans-central-bank/?mod=google_news_blog & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Bank_of_the_Islamic_Republic_of_Iran ] . Thus do 'a-d' here actually constitute the Real "Casus Belli" ?!

e) The same NeoCon, Neo-Colonial, Paleo-Imperial WARMONGERS who beat the drums for The Unconscionable, Illegal & Immoral WAR on Iraq (where The Only "WMD" = Words of Mass Deception !!) are now beating the Drums of War and this time Iran is in the Imperial crosshairs. Pls. Research PNAC (eg http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article1665.htm & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PNAC etc.)

Why no comments? Is no one checking this out?

What he is talking about as WW3 is an exchange of nuclear missiles between the US vs. Russia and China. Such a war would start and be over in about a day.

[-] 2 points by hymie (391) 12 years ago

The western financial oligarchs intention behind such a war is population reduction. They would like to see world population reduced to about a billion people. Now, there are too many people for them to control, especially while their financial system crumbles.

They plan to hide out in their bunkers until it is over, then reclaim the earth. At least, this is the way it has been explained to me.

Glad to see you are open minded on an issue as critical as this. Look up "Iran WW3" at google or youtube to find out more.

I've following this for some time now. Personally, I don't think a world war is possible due to the interconnectedness of finance and energy.

Just the start of serious war would plunge the whole world into civil unrest. All the elite know this.

I think we should reject all war regardless of size

[-] 0 points by mikePac (52) 12 years ago

The World is already creeping slowly towards social unrest.

[-] 1 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

Egg-zactly! More of a reason for restraint. The financial system is extremely fragile and we've past peak oil(the two are interrelated - neoclassical economics meet thermodynamics) Really we have a situation that normally(historically speaking) would prime for serious conflict over the next decade if it wasn't for the technical difficulty of keeping it together.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

Bingo. No one would have predicted WWI or II either.

[-] 1 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

Oh, I think the impulse will arise as economic conditions deteriorate (and they will) but it would be hard to do on a technical level because of the aforementioned dynamics.

[-] -1 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 12 years ago

This is not a threat to the movement. Better for OWS to streamline their positions to live minimally and gather with whatever collapse may occur.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Are you seriously thinking this movement will amount to anything if there were a societal collapse?

[-] 1 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 12 years ago

The pont is not to have a movement (in such a case), but to preserve whatever ideals and values remain if one should occur.

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 12 years ago

Are you saying we should preserve ideals over people?

[-] 1 points by hymie (391) 12 years ago

He is talking about a nuclear war between the US vs. Russia and China. This is a threat to every person on earth.

[-] -1 points by jimmytoe (8) 12 years ago

The American economy needs economic stimulation !!!!! Every flay waving, red blooded American would gladly give a foreigner life - or million's of their life's for lots and lots of beautiful greed money- money money - we just love the site and feel of the all mighty dollar

[-] -1 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 12 years ago

Apparently not.

Then again, you are attempting to intrude into matters of foreign policy, and you are only looking at a few very select facts, when the reality is much more complex than these few links you have posted.

[-] 2 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

Please feel free to add some more "select facts" &/or links in order to better illuminate the "the reality (that) is much more complex". Thanx ;-)

[-] 0 points by ZenDogTroll (13032) from South Burlington, VT 12 years ago

common. You can find You-tube video of Ahmadinejad can't ya?

He didn't even win the election in Iran. And they are within one year of having nukes - once they make that decision to move forward from where they are now.

I'll take a look -

but I have a predisposition toward Israel - not that I like Netanyahu, I don't, Arafat made a huge mistake when he was at Camp David and both people are paying for it.

[-] 2 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

Well thanx for at least considering it ;-)

Kay - it's pretty one sided - and doesn't begin to consider how Iranian behavior fits into the considerations - which they must.

Ahmadinejad appeared before the U.N. a while ago, spoke for something like an hour, and I think most people left.

If my memory of that event is correct, then it stands as an indication of just how crazy he is.

I am getting old - so I dunno - my memory could be off. Hey.

Further, I don't think oil itself plays into this, except from the standpoint that it offers Iran the opportunity to pay for their own military ambitions.

The claim that Iran was complicit in the 9/11 attacks

That's a new one on me. There were claims early on under Bush that Iraq had involvement, later debunked, along with the WMD lie.

Blame Saddam for Incubator baby deaths and plots against Bush’s father; provoke him by slant drilling from Kuwait, then imply no objection if he takes action; blame him for 9/11 complicity, falsely tie him to Al Qaeda, claim he possesses WMDs and poses an imminent threat, misrepresent claims to make it seem that he did not destroy WMD stocks as ordered.. More here and here and here.

All those claims are accurate, as far as I know, and it should be noted, most of them took place under an occupant of the Oval Office who had previously served as CIA director . . . . that kinda gave him a different world view and skill set in approaching issues of foreign policy . . .

But it should be carefully noted:

Blame Saddam for Incubator baby deaths

  • his own behavior did indeed play a role, regardless of sanctions

plots against Bush’s father;

  • probably true - after dad had kicked him out of Kuwait. Empires and their emperors act like that

provoke him by slant drilling from Kuwait, then imply no objection if he takes action;

  • that's what you get when you elect a former CIA head as President

blame him for 9/11 complicity, falsely tie him to Al Qaeda, claim he possesses WMDs and poses an imminent threat, misrepresent claims to make it seem that he did not destroy WMD stocks as ordered..

  • neo-con subversion of the repelican party hard at work. They liked Bush I, and want to march ever further over the abyss . . .

Reading now:

A growing body of evidence points to a concerted campaign to prepare Americans and the world for war against Iran. This is not idle speculation. It fits a pattern that repeatedly preceded previous hostilities.

This much I believe is true - I think it is based on the conclusion that Iran will go forward at some point toward their nuclear ambitions - once they make that decision they are one year away, more or less.

I assume the U.S. is working in conjunction within other Nato countries on this, don't know.

[-] 0 points by timir (183) from Brooklyn, NY 12 years ago

working in conjunction within other Nato countries means cutting off oil pie. today i saw news about China taking advantage in africa, - they build infrastructure. yesterday strategy. they will get piece of pie.
this is not the news i been watched today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Gf3VYR2YO4

A select "few facts" coming from the President of Russia, a former Colonel that worked under Colin Powell, and an overall assessment from a well-known alternative media source.

Then again, you can bury your head in the sand.
