The Occupy movement is at a pivotal moment. If we remain on the current trajectory, the Police will begin shutting down occupations faster than you can imagine. We need the support of police, military, and ex-military. We need to learn from Egypt and take the power from within. We are the 99%, and we will fight as the 99%. Operation Occupy the Police should be our sole focus until we are successful.

How do you think we could succeed in occupying the police?

You need to win their hearts and minds. The police are part of the 99% and aren't that much different from the OWS people. They want to keep their jobs so they can keep a roof over their heads. Most of them probably have families and kids.

We need to reach out to them, talk to them. They don't want their kids and grandkids to live in the hellish world that is being created right now.

The police need to be AWAKENED - just like many other members of the 99%.

Yes.

Follow them, gently plead with them to help us. It's not illegal to talk with them! Encourage them to leak docs and info. about these crackdowns.

Even if it doesn't work, their superiors will be less likely to send them into action against protesters like this!!

If you interact with police, calmly discuss their opinion on the movement. Try to offer ideas how the movement might appeal to them. Remain calm and polite. Appreciate that these are the men who signed up to protect and serve the people. Understand that the police force is our key to victory.

I asked radio host "Normangoldman" to explain this situation to me of no avail. First, the unionized police, fire, first-responders embraced as a key entity dismissed by the 1 percent- think Madison, Wisconsin. Now, through some strange vortex, the police/keepers of order have become "boots on the ground".  Yet, there is no empathy to the fact that local budgets and resources are being stretched to keep the OWS encampments safe. Likewise, the local business entities and people which reside in these zones have been rather giving. I in no way condone brutality in any guise or form.  When resources are being diverted from accidents, homicides, and other unseemly local events in order to placate the needs of OWS......stress is mounting. Just another vantage point.

NYC cops are the best. There is no more congenial yet efficient force anywhere in the free world. They are the example. So I think a little more homage here would be prudent especially in light of the fact that you are quite obviously "misbehaved" persons.

Why occupy the police when it could be possible to have them join in? If there was leadership in OWS, it would be smart on their part to talk with the police and try to get them to join the movement.

Occupying the police means garnering their support.

Why struggle when we could leave? Let’s go overseas places like; Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc. People are already leaving this country; there is too much corruption here, why fight; let the system implode in its own mass. More to the point this country’s economy is already history.

What we, the supporters of OWS need to understand is the severity of our actions. We're going up against the most powerful individuals on the planet, and they're ready for us. They're ready to take down an angry mob, and they're ready to sell the movement as an extremist organization through their media machines. We can't fall for the trap. It's too easy to get mad, and if it's easy it's wrong. Find the strength within yourself to remain calm and lure outsiders into the movement.

We need to police. We need non-violence. We need to remain calm and continue spreading awareness.

We need to defend ourselves from the police. Organized group members consisting of the strongest and fastest of us should be equipped with gas masks, armor and shields to defend peaceful protesters from police aggression. I want to organize this group of protectors.

You sound like a provocateur.

[-] 1 points by RastafariAmerican (141) from Yonkers, NY 12 years ago

No! We will not succeed fighting force with force! We must remain non-violent and utilize the Police for their protection. Please understand this is a game of chess, and we will only win if we play a defensive game.

[-] 1 points by nuclearradio (227) 12 years ago

That's what I'm talking about! Defense. I don't mean aggression, but defense against the police. No one in my force of protectors would attack a cop, just defend the protestors from them.

[-] 1 points by RastafariAmerican (141) from Yonkers, NY 12 years ago

If the police want to arrest peaceful protesters, let them do it. The minute you start fighting back against police you're wrong in the public eye.

[-] 1 points by nuclearradio (227) 12 years ago

I'm not talking about arrests. I'm talking about brutality. There will be a limit to how much sitting down and getting beaten and arrested will do.

Now they have come to the place where their faith can no longer feed on the bread of repression and violence. They ask for the bread of liberty, of public equality, and public responsibility. It must not be denied them.

All in good time, roloff. All in good time.

Not everyone is awake yet.

There is still food on the grocery store shelves.
