Forum Post: Occupy Protester from Zuccotti Park Lands Wall Street Job

Posted 12 years ago on Dec. 6, 2011, 9:42 p.m. EST by VoterMarch (34) from New York, NY
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

It is going viral around the Internet how an OWS Occupier landed a job with a Wall Street firm as a financial analyst. See How an Occupy Wall Street Protestor Took Gingrich's Advice and Got a Job, Yahoo News, http://news.yahoo.com/occupy-wall-street-protestor-took-gingrichs-advice-got-213800809.html Some people are accusing Tracy of being a traitor to the cause.

FYI, Tracy Postert (formerly Tracy Blevins) is a long-time activist. See VoterMarch video of her at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_M-ef_SMZo She put herself through college and graduate school and got a PhD. She just went through a divorce and has no money. Like many well educated of the 99%, she simply needed a job to survive.

What Gingrich said wasn't advice, it was an insult.

Good luck to Tracy. Wall Street can use a few good people.

[-] 2 points by VoterMarch (34) from New York, NY 12 years ago

Gingrich told the Occupiers to take a bath and get a job. Agreed, what an insult!

[-] 4 points by judy (61) 12 years ago

Good for her! Glad her 'looking for employment' sign worked for her.The job market is terrible. Maybe there could be an 'occupy jobs' rally where everyone has signs and resumes, just like she did. Much better to have liked-minded people working on Wall Street. The article said she started at a low pay, and it could go to three figures. I don't have a problem with that. It is the few people on the very top that are corrupt that are the issue, not the worker bees even if they are well-paid.

[-] 2 points by Marlow (1141) 12 years ago

This is great.. and i agree with Judy. Trying to press our buttons, not gonna work. Some just dont get it! Dont understand why Occupy, and 99%!

... Really, Good For Tracy, and Best to the Rest!

[-] 3 points by judy (61) 12 years ago

Marlow, yes, maybe the slogan could be the 99.9%. There are those with low/mid to high six figure incomes who have lost money, pensions, savings, homes, jobs, health plans and/or have had more responsibilities at work piled on due to downsizing. All sorts of professionals, managers, etc. They empathize with OWS but are in the lower end of the top 1% and with OWS's 99% slogan, wonder where they fit in. In my opinion, I would think OWS would want to welcome them with open arms.

[-] 1 points by Marlow (1141) 12 years ago

We have only to announce ONE Thing... and we All know what that is, yet we think we have to hide behind it with facsimiles and 'Other Notions'...

Watch for my Topic.. About ONE Thing missing in the equation that not only brought us All together... but is EVERYTHING ..behind the need to 'Fix' the Situation .

... wait for it.. One Word in Quotes.

Has Tracy Postert aka Dr. Tracy Blevins aka Medical Marijuana Barbie aka Dr. Babs read WHERE DID THE TOWERS GO? by Dr. Judy Wood???

WHERE DID THE TOWERS GO? by Dr. Judy Wood is neither a political nor conspiratorial work. This 500 page full-color hardcover textbook is a forensic scientific investigation into the events of 9/11. Because of Dr. Judy Wood and her 10 years of forensic scientific research into the "dustification" of the World Trade Center complex readers of WHERE DID THE TOWERS GO? will now know what forensic evidence "magnetic-electrogravitic-nuclear reactions" leave behind when this technology is used again on unsuspecting and innocent victims for the sake of oil industry interests.

WHERE DID THE TOWERS GO? ISBN-13: 978-0-615-41256-6 ISBN-10: 0615412564 Library of Congress Control Number: 2010916516 http://wheredidthetowersgo.com/buy/

On 9/11 over a half mile of vertical building height, containing nearly 150 football fields of floor space, was reduced to a near-level field of dust and debris, where rescue workers walked horizontally or rappelled into empty caverns to look for survivors. How was this possible given the standard laws of engineering and physics? The 9/11 Commission Report bypassed this central issue, as did the report of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Contrary to its stated objective of determining 'why and how WTC 1 and WTC 2 collapsed,' the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) made the stunning admission that it did not investigate how the towers fell. Neither the standard view that the Twin Towers collapsed from fire nor the standard opposition view that they were intentionally detonated by thermite explosives explains the evidence, nor do they follow the laws of engineering and physics. Dr. Wood left Clemson to research the 9/11 conundrum full time, and she has focused her research strictly on physical evidence and scientific principles. WHERE DID THE TOWERS GO? provides an understandable, credible, and photo-enhanced summary of Dr. Wood's disturbing findings, which resulted in her lawsuit against the contractors of the NIST report.

Dr. Judy Wood earned a Ph.D. Degree from Virginia Tech and is a former professor of mechanical engineering. She has research expertise in experimental stress analysis, structural mechanics, deformation analysis, materials characterization and materials engineering science. Her research has involved testing materials, including complex-material systems, in the area of photomechanics, or the use of optical and image-analysis methods to determine physical properties of materials and measure how materials respond to forces placed on them. Her area of expertise involves interferometry.

She taught graduate and undergraduate engineering classes and has authored or co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed papers in her areas of expertise.

In the time since 9/11/01, she has applied her expertise in materials science, image analysis and interferometry, to a forensic study of over 40,000 images, hundreds of video clips and a large volume of witness testimony pertaining to the destruction of the WTC complex. Dr. Wood has conducted a comprehensive forensic investigation of what physically happened to the World Trade Center site on 9/11. And, based on her analysis of the evidence she gathered, in 2007, she filed a federal qui tam case for science fraud against the contractors who contributed to the official NIST report about the destruction of the WTC. This case was filed in the US Supreme Court in Dec 2009. To this day, Dr. Wood's investigation is the only comprehensive forensic investigation in the public domain.

It's not about where you work but about what you do with your money. It's not my call to judge that, though. It's not as if she will stop becoming an activist while working at Wall Street. It would be really amazing if she started using the money Wall Street paid her to fight against Wall Street. I wonder if Wall Street would fire her. That would really cause a disruption, I think. It think.

[-] 1 points by VoterMarch (34) from New York, NY 12 years ago

She will surely continue working as an activist. Apparently, she believes that beam weapons destroyed the World Trade Center. See video at http://www.youtube.com/user/the911fairy?feature=watch#p/u/4/dN1AhpWOiu0

[-] 1 points by aeturnus (231) from Robbinsville, NC 12 years ago

People come up with all sorts of things, when we are living in a nation rife with conspiracy theory entertainment. I can't say that beam weapons were behind the downfall of the towers or not, because I don't know. I doubt that can be proven with any degree of certainty. We need to be focusing on things at hand that are having a direct impact on our lives, things that we can change.

How she becomes an activist is up to her, and I don't believe OWS is trying to support a beam theory. That was her little pet peeve, I guess. What I was simply saying is that if somebody finds a job, fine. Sorry to find out that she is going to be wasting her resources on paranoia and speculation.

JEEPERS! It appears that Tracy Postert's new boss,Tommy Belecis, is noting but a criminal in a monkey suit! But then Wall Street is full of them, thus the protest.

Subject: This letter was written to Cynthia Fagen from an anonymous source about John Thomas Financial*

Dear Ms. Fagen,

I am deeply disheartened by an article you wrote earlier this week. I have been contemplating sending you this email, but ultimately decided I must. I just feel you should know all of the info on the subjects of your articles, especially when you show them in such a positive light.

Sure, Tommy might have given an occupier a job, but I can assure you it was solely to get the positive press he so used you to generate on his behalf. If you do some homework on Mr. Belecis, you will find he is a documented criminal - and a major one.

He was most recently a federal witness to a triple murder of which he was an accomplice. Mr. Belecis turned federal informant against Chritstian Tarantino in Federal court of Suffolk County before The Honorable Judge Seibert. He did this to not only preserve his freedom, but also his brokerage license by confessing to his own involvement and testifying to that of his associates. He took the stand and confessed to his involvement in the murders as well as his years as a major drug trafficker. It is all documented and easy to find. We are not talking petty crimes here, we are talking MURDER!

These were not Mr. Belecis' only indiscretions. He was also involved in a fraudulent stock deal where he promoted and sold a non existing stock to unsuspecting investors that lost millions. The stock was for a product related to Amber Alert, the great system our government has put in place to protect and help find missing children. The fact that he would prey upon people with a stock subject that does so much good goes to show you the extent of his greed and amoral behavior. Mr. Belecis ended up testifying against his accomplices in this case with the SEC to save his precious brokerage license. He then went on continuing to rip off the unsuspecting and trusting public.

It is just very disheartening to see a puff piece written about such a person when the rest of the good, hardworking, and honest Americans struggle to get by every day while this known criminal gets a free pass on felony murder, drug trafficking, and stock fraud charges while he continues to prey upon unsuspecting investors.

It sure would be nice to see someone actually dig for the truth about this person and put THAT out in the world.

Feel free to do some research and you will easily find EVERYTHING I wrote above is 100% true and accurate.

All my best, Anonymous

P.S. I am sure you are a credible reporter and would prefer to always report factual information. So, please let me know if you intend to print a retraction or a new article. In absence of that, I am compelled to send this email to the other reporters at your paper so that someone can report the truth about Thomas Belecis already http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-212-299-7859

I didn't come from the middle class. I came from the lower class, and I've never had a high paying job. Ever. My degrees didn't matter. Science didn't have room for me. All I could find were part time and temporary jobs. I'm not the type of person who can afford to not work. Yeah, I was going to Zuccotti Park as often as I could, but I was also looking for work.

[-] 1 points by TracyPostert (7) 12 years ago

I'd like to reply to some of the comments here. Am I going to be allowed to do this?

[-] 1 points by TracyPostert (7) 12 years ago

By the way, "knothole" is not spelled k-n-o-t-e-h-o-l-e in case you wondered. Darn it!

[-] 1 points by TracyPostert (7) 12 years ago

I have a Jewish friend from elementary school who is still my friend. I chat with her on Facebook every now and then. I made the Mathletics team, but she beat me in our school spelling bee. But all I really knew about her Jewishness was that Hannukah didn't match up exactly with Christmas. Other than that, I didn't know any Jewish people until I went to college. I was raised Southern Baptist.

P.S. "She just went through a divorce and has no money" is absolutely no excuse, and actually makes me lose much of the respect I might have had for the movement if this is the dominant view.

Many people out there are in far worse situations than hers, and some, like Professor Zizek, are risking their "better" positions. So really, there is no excuse bar some real urgent and immediate emergency.

[-] 1 points by 99time (92) 12 years ago

It looks to me like Tracy Postert was quite a trouble maker in the 911 movement -- not just with her 'space beam theory' but also with her personal attacks on 'truthers.'

http://911scholars.ning.com/profiles/blog/show?id=3488444%3ABlogPost%3A4426&commentId=3488444%3AComment%3A4432

I wonder why. I hate to be suspicious, but this one is screaming at me. A space beam weapons, trouble making truther joins Occupy for two weeks with a sign indicating she needs a job, and Wall Street hires her? With all the bright, young minds at OWS, this older person with her type of past is desirable in the current employment environment? Come on now.

Did Wall Street check her twitter page? DR. BABSIE? "I am researching what destroyed the World Trade Center. Open message to Jones and Harrit: Debate me on thermite." http://twitter.com/drbabsie

Where are some of her writings on the web? It looks like she deleted lots of her articles.

James Fetzer (if you don't already know) has caused no end to trouble in the 9/11 movement.

Tracy Blevins, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the prestigious Rice Univ. in Texas. http://grandegroup.blogs.rice.edu/people/alumni/ She had to settle for a job in Wall Street.

[-] 1 points by nichole (525) 12 years ago

She must clean up well, not a nasty tent ho, didn't help stock Zuccotti's "weapons cache" (as alleged by Fox News/ it included a kitchen knife and several other potentially-violent tools), didn't feel entitled like the rest of us, truly wanted a job ... WOW!!! What an inspiration, the system is just swell.

[-] 1 points by humanprogress (55) 12 years ago

this is just a promotion against what occupy is really fighting for. congrats to the person who found a job, she just signed into slavery. really, that's what it is.

[-] 1 points by CatLady2 (248) from New York, NY 12 years ago

I say Brava to her! I wish her well in her new position . She will be an asset to this firm and perhaps will introduce some new thinking and ideas in her workplace.

[-] 1 points by aahpat (1407) 12 years ago

Good luck to her.

I would rather have Americans who are sympathetic to OWS values working in Wall Street than the creep predators who predominate the place now.

[-] 1 points by economicallydiscardedcitizen (761) 12 years ago

Certainly as more OWS supporters return to work on Wall Street and farther away throughout the US, they can through working within the system SLOWLY but SURELY effect the necessary and desired change.

So, congratulations to Tracy and please make your work in 'the belly of The Beast' count towards positive change on Wall Street and local communities (ie:encourage charitable outreach to those who are still out of work or under-employed and private or public subsidy dependent!)

[-] 1 points by VoterMarch (34) from New York, NY 12 years ago

According to a new blog blost, Tracy Postert is also Medical Marijuana Barbie who stripped in London's Oxford Street to give attention to the medical marijuana cause. See http://vigilantsquirrelbrigade.blogspot.com/2011/12/update-who-is-real-tracy-blevins.html

[-] 0 points by economicallydiscardedcitizen (761) 12 years ago

VoterMarch:thanks for sharing! Postert is close enough in age to me, similar in body type (as Medical Marijuana Barbie) and I still get carded where drinks are served and flirted with by 20 & 30 something y/o guys. For her to lie about her age, changing it from 40's to 30's I'm thinking of having a copy of my driver's license to use for employers and change '64 to '84. PS:After reading about John Thomas' history with strippers and Tracy's history as one she's more than a perfect 'fit.'

[-] 1 points by economicallydiscardedcitizen (761) 12 years ago

Wall Street will never fire her, although she may leave if or when being in the corral with 'the big swinging dicks' gets to be too rough...

Does anyone remember John Thomas financial's founding of www.savewallstreet.org? check this out with videos that fleshes out more of who they are: http://www.dailyfinance.com/2010/02/11/revenge-of-the-wall-street-traders-the-fat-cats-strike-back/

..."Another editor, doubting the group's veracity but clearly hip to the British slang for "penis," wrote, "John Thomas Financial? Oy vey."

[-] 1 points by nucleus (3291) 12 years ago

Gingrich's advice? LOL. As if he was the first to scream "get a job" at a protester.

More corproate media BS, trying to create a false equivalency for the party that will be voted out of existence in the next election (assuming there is a next election ...).

Chief Market Analyst of John Thomas Financial Wayne Kaufman & Tracy Postert on Power & Money http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZfVt_XQ6gE

Tracy keeps repeating in her first business media interview/introduction that she wants to pay more taxes. What's wrong with saying 'I plan on giving back to the community?'

[-] 1 points by TracyPostert (7) 12 years ago

It was a snipe of sorts at the audience, mostly wealthy people who moan so loudly that they have to pay taxes and then insist that they call the shots because they do pay taxes.

[-] 0 points by economicallydiscardedcitizen (761) 12 years ago

Great sense of humor which is partly what I thought was going on with the remark and I'm sure it had to be a tad unnerving to be on a live set. Hey, I wish you all the best! If you can and with all your background you might want to seriously consider the San Francisco Bay Area-if you ever do, poking around big biotech in Santa Clara County, Contra Costa County and even Alameda Counties couldn't hurt and of course plenty of support for alt. med/medical marijuana. Ciao for now and have a great day!

[-] 0 points by vothmr (82) from Harrisonburg, VA 12 years ago

this goes to show that the occupiers are bitching because they got screwed. if they get jobs then they stop complaining. i don't see any professionals out there complaining about making money

[-] 0 points by Okkupie (1) 12 years ago

She was never a protester:

She was either a planet: http://wiredobserver.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/the-postert-system/

or, on a more serious note, a selfish person: http://wiredobserver.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/lets-all-go-to-zuccotti-park/

[-] 1 points by VoterMarch (34) from New York, NY 12 years ago

These articles are unfair and just poking fun at her. She was a protestor at Zuccotti Park See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_M-ef_SMZo

[-] 0 points by economicallydiscardedcitizen (761) 12 years ago

I hate taking any job out of desperation and the links posted just below the Youtube video confirm my suspicions as to what Tracy may be in for as posted below my note here.

Where a position involves a more complete usage of my career background I equate the business relationship along the lines of choosing whom to go to bed with and try to find out as much as possible about a company prior to 'cold calling' them if the lead is not a referral.

It looks like Tracy has desperately chosen 'just anyone' opening herself to a much greater likelihood of being used, abused, chewed up and spit out within a short time even though by hiring her John Thomas Financial has garnered a beneficent publicity:

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/262492/20111206/tracy-postert-occupy-wall-street-protest-belesis.htm .............." Ironically, the last time Postert's firm was in the news was in February 2010, when the company's CEO Anastasios "Thomas" Belesis dedicated himself to a project called "Restore Wall Street," which aimed at cleaning up Wall Street's reputation in the wake of the financial crisis. Belesis has previously been accused of "churning, fraud, excessive trading, breach of contract," and was once the target of an insider trading scandal involving InterOil. Prior to founding John Thomas Financial, Belesis was fired from the S.W. Bach in 2005 for misrepresenting his identity to a customer.

In 1997, the Equal Opportunity Commission filed a federal suit against Belesis, calling his firm a "virtual hailstorm of sexual harassment" in a 50-page complaint. The suit accused the firm of regularly inviting lesbian strippers to the trading floor, and in one instance, a female dance was asked to remove her labio ring so a group of male employees could ask female employees to sniff it. On another occasion, the firm forced its brokers to mop up whipped cream and bodily fluids after a company executive enjoyed a "midday frolic with his secretary."

Among other complaints, "A female employee said that refusing a male superior's sexual demands was grounds for termination; men regularly wiped food covered hands on women's breasts; a junior partner was said to have sometimes picked his nose and then rammed his finger into female brokers' sandwiches."

The federal suit was settled for $1.75 million."

[-] 1 points by VoterMarch (34) from New York, NY 12 years ago

You have some good notes on the sordid past of Tracy's new Wall Street boss Belesis. Time will tell whether this is just a publicity stunt for this Wall Street firm, or whether they really want to give a job to a bright PhD. Like many of the 99%, Tracy was desperate for a job to pay her bills and we should not blame her for this.

[-] 0 points by economicallydiscardedcitizen (761) 12 years ago

I think it's both. Having been in straight commission work environments myself, any sales manager worth their salt will tell their reps to look for opportunity no matter where you are or what you are doing. OWS in a city such as NYC and with so many unemployed is a perfect "hunting ground" for seasoned, educated and more than ready workers at a discount (it's really an employer's market right now.)

[-] -2 points by patriot85 (5) 12 years ago

Somehow, when you look at the names in this article, it doesn't surprise me. Blevins (the woman hired) and Kaufman (the financial analyst who took her resume) - both jewish names....this is just more proof that this movement is not a genuine one and once again....the hidden jewish hand pulls all the strings...America....jewish folks worship the dollar.

[-] 1 points by mobius1ski (18) 12 years ago

stop calling yourself patriot. there's nothing patriotic about antisemitism and bigotry. also, as an anti-oppression movement there is zero room for hate groups in the occupy movement. finally, this is just one more example of nazis and white nationalists looking to infiltrate wherever people are outraged over the economic situation and steer their anger at wall street and the state towards the jews. it will not work.

[-] 0 points by VoterMarch (34) from New York, NY 12 years ago

Antisemitism and Jewish stereotypes have no place in this forum. Also, FYI, Tracy Blevins is a 5'10" Christian from Texas who never saw a Jew until she graduated high school.
