Orlando Florida conducted an Occupy Wall Street support event on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Orlando residents joined others from around the Central Florida region to assemble at the Chamber of Commerce at Lake Ivanhoe near downtown Orlando.

Supporters then marched to Orlando's City Hall in a demonstration of their collective grievances. All walks of life joined in the march. There were regular-seeming middle class folks, liberals, libertarians, Buddhists, Christians, union members and organizers, even anarchists and artists.

What is relevant to this movement taking place in Orlando, is that Orlando is typically not known for being a political hotspot. This suggests that if the movement is catching fire in a relatively politically sleepy city like Orlando, then the Occupy Wall Street movement can conceivably take-off anywhere.

Perhaps that statement might be an insult to small pockets activists representing one various political movements within the Central Florida region, but in contrast to other major US cities, Orlando tends to be a pretty quiet place.

You wrote "All the OWS people need to take a lesson in economics." What makes you think that the OWS people are uneducated or for that matter that all of the OWS people have never taken an economics course? Also, why do you feel that everyone in the movement is complaining about working long hours with little pay? It seems there are a lot of voices in this movement and that there might be a danger in drawing conclusions that there is one singular perspective.

All the OWS people need to take a lesson in economics. You all complain about working long hours for little pay, but it is better than no job at all. When government intervenes with price floors all it does is create shortages and more unemployment. Also the 5 dollar a month BOA fee that everyone was complaining about was only instated because of a irrational price control bill on banks. If the government never tried to step in then there would be no fee.
