John Iacovelli An occupation suggestion for everyone's consideration. In Florida, an 1869 statute allows for adverse possession of abandoned property if the rightful owner does not contest an open, adverse, and continuous claim by someone else for seven years. If we find that occupying a park is not the right thing to do, taking over and establishing a group home in a foreclosed property near a major bank headquarters could be a possibility. It might be inspiration to other #occupy groups -- something that groups in the North might be able to use as a suggestion in the coming, colder months. It would be a visibly active action against the banks, the prime movers in foreclosure. With the right media strategy, it could even bring in more attention than an occupation of a park next to an art museum.

Does this go for all counties in Florida? This could prove to be quite useful.

I like it. Lots of foreclosures, unfortunately. But we could certainly make use of them.

fyi: Right now occupyfortlauderdale is in a park next to the art museum and we go home every night. Yes we camp could happen here more comfortably because it is warm enough.
