Here;s something conservatives and OWS;ers should unite to fight. It's in development.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2087996/NYPD-developing-body-scanner-detect-guns-suspects-street.html

excerpt: The New York Post reported that the device has been undergoing development for the past three years for the streets of New York City.

The device will be mounted on the top of NYPD vans and will shoot rays at a suspect or scan the streets for weapons.

Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said it currently only works at a short range – from around three to four feet away from a person.

'This can be done from a short range,' Kelly said. 'We want a distance of at least 25 meters.'

Kelly said the department is working with the U.S. Department of Defense to develop the device.

The gadget would mean the NYPD would no longer have to stop and frisk those suspected of carrying weapons - a practice which rocketed by 13 per cent last year.

Yet there are also concerns that the gadget could be an invasion of privacy as they show an outline of a suspect's body - similar to 'naked' body scanners used in airports.

If It's infared then what's the problem? Only your outline will be shown, it's not that big of a deal.

oh come on !it is not about the technology method it is about the continuous and endless introduction on a weekly basis almost of Big Brother like legislation and law enforcement methods. You are not getting the big picture at all at your peril

No I'm not, it really doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to me, but whatever

history is repeating itself perfectly.you need to read this book

" Without drawing too fine a distinction, it is difficult to miss the many parallels between contemporary American society and 1933-1939 German society. "

I guess this got hardly any serious comments is because of 'guns' in the title? This is a serious privacy issue!!!

and they wonder about the increase in cancer! lets get all the thugs to hang out on wall street! they can shoot their little rays at the 1%.

It's similar to TSA scans at airport. The scanning for GUNS statement is smoke to hide the fact they will see EVERYTHING.

We've already accepted being on camera everywhere we go, guess no one will mind this further intrusion since it's "only for guns".

Honestly, what is the big issue with seeing a human body? It's not like we are all stunningly gorgeous (well, I know I am) rolls eyes

It's not about the body!! It's about the cops driving around with these scanners checking out what you have on your person!!! There will come a day when people wonder why we as a generation let them installl cameras on every corner, NSA intercepts on cell and email, and virtual frisks on the city streets/

I am very concerned about the frisks on the streets. Surprised that people put up with it. Do women get frisked by women? And vise versa?

Intercepts on cell phones is a given. That's why we all went digital. Analogue phones can't be hacked. The cops and military now have the analogue frequencies for their own use.

Just use your cell phone for emergency shit. If you want to talk personal, jump in a phone box.
