There has been far less police brutality lately than at the beginning. When people are running around in the streets, blocking traffic, making physical contact with police, what do you want them to do?
Remember who was there during 9/11? Remember how everyone held them in regard of heroes? What happened? There are a few incidents where they are keeping hippies under control and all of the sudden they are the bad guys.
Half of these people are asking to get arrested. All they are is doing their job. This is not police brutality. When you fight police, getting arrested is what happens. Welcome to America.
That is why one of them got in trouble for using "excessive force"

Not saying all cops are bad or that all protesters are good. In general both are good people on both sides. But both sides has its bad people.
On the protester side these people are removed from the camp and should be punished. On the police side they should be removed from protester duty at least and punished.
Also civil disobedience is a way of protesting. Though some take it a little far.
I respect that they're doing their jobs. They don't decide who gets to march and who has to stay quiet and move along. I pay taxes, I pay police salaries. Don't worry, it's 1.4 mil or so in overtime- JP Morgan just donated 4 million to...show their support... ?

The police are NOT paid to serve and protect the coddled elites.
They are paid to serve THE STATE and the state is WE THE PEOPLE.
Failing to abide by that basic rule puts the police in a situation of ILLEGALITY and, of course, total MORAL ILLEGITIMACY.
The Roman soldiers who crucified Jesus were also just "doin' their job"...
And Nazi mass-murderer Adolf Eichmann contended that he was just "following his superiors' orders"... The tribunal did NOT buy that and sentenced him to death.
This is nothing like Jesus and the Roman Soldiers.
If you had been a CNN reporter interviewing one of those legionnaires, he probably would have told you : "You know, Ohio44048, crucifixions are not really my thing... but I'm just "doin' my job".
Those who are Protesting on public property are causing problems, trash building up. disrupting business, disrupting peoples lives. If the police need to control them that is their jobs. I see this as becoming more violent. There will be someone or some people who want it to be violent and they will come into the protesters and riots will begin, just like the 60's.

If an order is IMMORAL, the policeman or the soldier MUST obey his conscience as opposed to his superiors. That is the new thinking and I APPLAUD IT. GOD'S LAW trumps MAN'S LAW - as it should.

sorry, no. The simple fact is that they are NOT doing their job, they are not serving and protecting the people they are serving and protecting the elites. Assorted assaults and batteries exist and have happened because the police are NOT doing their job.. the macing of the girls is only one fine example of easily dozens of examples. Doing their JOB would be aiding the protesters in arresting the criminals of wall street.
Doing their job would be facilitating a citizens arrest of such criminals.
They ARE NOT doing their job- they are siding on the wrong side and employing assorted illegal tactics.

The police are proving every day that they are evil bottom feeding social parasites who don't serve and protect- proving every day that they are bullies, that they are lawless, and above the law, that they will lie and assualt others and lie about assaulting others and assault you for pointing out that they are lying about assaulting others.
