Forum Post: Nothing is Going to Change

As much as I wish it would, at this point I can say fairly confidently that the people in this country are simply not engaged enough to change the underlying structure of the nation.

There is no demand for a scrapping of the tax and trade codes.

Bernie Sanders got an audit of the fed that showed trillions being printed and lent to others besides us.

The country is going to endorse war, corrupted corporations/banks and bought politicians/parties all over again in 2012.

Nothing is changing. And at this point, I don't think the nation is smart enough to change it.

On one point, I have to disagree. There is, as of the last few years, a majority consensus on the issue of the negative effects of "free trade". Unfortunately, the voters have not elected those representatives who would oppose it, other than Obama, who made it sound like he would, (while campaigning) but once in office, did just the opposite. http://www.citizen.org/documents/polling-memo-july-2011.pdf

Throughout history, its been small groups of determined people who have made the major changes. Historically speaking, the people as a whole are generally not the ones who have gotten the job done.

I agree ! Ive always thought we should start huge communes to see if we could develop a better way to live together

but hey, we're just products of the establishment, probably not mature enough to do any better

Obviously it would be better if there were states with socialist majorities. And states that had libertarian majorities, etc. Then maybe a state just for Thugs.

Well really I mean a country on the sea, a biodome, a space station, or maybe a place like Costa Rica with social programs, capitalism, and liberal views. (not sure it exists, besides Costa Rica is not the cheapest place to live).

Fidel Castro began his campaign against the American-dominated Cuban government in 1947. First he tried the traditional way throught the political process, but Fulgencio Batista led a military coup to thwart any leftist takeover.

Fidel then turned to revolution, was imprisoned, and almost murdered, but he survived; fled to Mexico; and returned to lead his small army to victory over the oppressive forces of Batista.

Revolution is a part of political evolution, as Kropotkin pointed out, just a rapid spurt, perhaps, when most needed.

Things have already changed. In my life I've experienced being a total outcast and oddball for even discussing this - to this being common knowledge acceptable conversation. That didn't occur by itself - if nothing does change we won't go down in history as bystanders - we won't be the generation who let freedom slip away. And it will keep changing as long as we keep bringing it to the forefront. Don't post nothing will change...then it won't - post demand overhaul of the tax and trade codes.

I have. I have posted things like this for years in countless political forums.

The facts remain. Over half the country doesnt give a shit, and most of the other half is easily duped into one party or another through fear of the other.

Then run for office - Occupy the Elections - we will support you and get your name out - this is really what we need to do state by state - especially the younger generation who has absolutely no representation and continues to get kicked in the teeth daily - outsourcing, land, rental, housing monopoly, education costs, retirement age, taxes - you name it we come last - we are generation screwed and I would vote for you

I felt this way for a while. It seemed as though nothing would change. Then I noticed a few people on Fox News telling the truth, just amazing. Not all of them mind you but it was encouraging to hear any truth on that station. Then I also noticed that at a time we would all expect an equal force of trolls on the web as is par for the course when Occupy becomes highly active, the number of trolls has actually been a let down. This tells me that some of the would be trolls are beginning to see the truth and are overcoming the mind pollution and noise of the thought police. Then they fight you.... Then....
