Forum Post: No President Nader fantasies this time, please. Change starts locally. Run progressives in primaries, vote in local and congressional elections.

When the time comes for political action: Recall that the Tea Party was effective because they worked within the political structure and swung the government to the right through running right-wingers in Republican primaries and TURNING UP TO VOTE in congressional elections. This is the way to do it. Change has to start locally. Endorse candidates you believe in for Democratic primaries. In a local or special situation, perhaps a third-party or independent candidate is viable. But please be serious. An election is not a time to protest or demonstrate the purity of your ideals. It is too late by election time: you must choose the lesser evil at that point (that's probably the Democrat, okay?). And do so with conviction! It's literally the only right thing to do! No silly protest votes. No President Nader 2012 or whatever. Get involved at the local level, do all you can, and when the election comes, vote for the one who is less evil. This is how it works. Keep up the momentum!

What is your plan, then?

Electing more big government Democrats is the plan. Socialize the banks. Write down all debt. Sunshine and rainbows.

But how will we get the next release of call of duty for our xbox if we smash it all down?

How about we just fix things and bring america back to the goals set in the preamble to the constitution to protect and promote the general welfare by realizing the movements goals. We have an entire toolkit already in place (the constitution) to correct whats going on.

And realize that no matter what; to get to the 99% we have to realize that people are going to be stumbling across code words all over the place... time to get over it or re-factor things back down to a "we are the 3%" and get ready for a long cold winter. Its about finding common ground hombre.

I support primary challenges on the far right and far left because the truth is people like Paul and Kucinich are a lot closer to one another than people in their own parties.

Is there a political process working group. I realize the movement is not political, but if there is a working group that can spawn activists from both parties into the primary processes of this and future elections, that becomes a very specific tool for the the general working groups to leverage. Also, is there a legal working group?

Not that I'm aware of. This would be a great website-based component--a database of elections in which people could organize around their local jurisdictions, and perhaps a legal action group, with an ad on the front page seeking lawyers etc.
