You forgot to paste the link to your forum post. Could be a little confusing with out it.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 8 years ago

Now you have the link to your post. Do you think you might want to edit the comment to include your question as to what the link is about?

[-] 1 points by turbocharger (1756) 8 years ago

I'm sure the circus will continue unabated :)

[-] 3 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 8 years ago

Circuses are entertaining!

[-] 1 points by lugano (1221) 8 years ago

Yes but in ''the circus'' - many good points, news and information was, is and can be .. conveyed, exchanged and disseminated! Don't give up or be despondent. This is still a vital forum. Solidarity!

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

thanks

[-] 0 points by Renneye (3874) 8 years ago

Thanks jart.

Does this mean anything other than a new server? Is the forum still yours or have you handed it over to someone else?

Would you reconsider putting the point system back?

I, as well as others that can only check in once every day, or so, find it difficult finding good conversations in line with OWS' core values when the point system doesn't allow for the best comments to function the way it did...as now, one has to sift through the incessant comments of the two people here that dominate the forum by virtue of the fact that they have far more time than the more traditional forum members have, and chooses to put more importance and indeed preference in bellicose bickering than true opinions for the betterment for humanity.

It is beyond time consuming. Please consider putting the point system back in place.

Also... please open the sign up page.

[-] 2 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 8 years ago

I guess we could try putting it back. Activity seems to have died down a lot since I removed it. Perhaps tomorrow I'll do that?

[-] 2 points by beautifulworld (23772) 8 years ago

Jart, that would be fabulous. Thank you so much for all that you do. :)

[-] 2 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 8 years ago

Also I didn't mention this before, but the comments I read in the thread five months ago really touched my heart, and made me decide to remain committed to ensuring this forum stays online.

[-] 2 points by windyacres (1197) 8 years ago

I want to touch your heart with this. Assuming neither God, Allah, Jesus, or Mohammad is going to show up to help us, the time is now for Humanity to choose to live in a different, but better way. Together it can be done. We must Love one another!

We in the spirit of the Occupy movement felt good because we knew we were in the right. We were calling out unfairness and insisting it be stopped. Much of that happened on this forum, so a personal, thank you, from me.

[-] 2 points by beautifulworld (23772) 8 years ago

Well, you touched our hearts too, with your creation of this epic site and forum and we'll never forget you for doing so. We would love more than anything to get it back to it's former glory, or some version thereof.

World events show that the Occupy movement did in fact plant seeds of change that will take time to come to full fruition, but visionary revolutionaries never give up, and they wait in patience and they make sacrifices for something that is bigger than themselves.

So, much much appreciation and love to you for all that you do. Thanks, again.

[-] 3 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 8 years ago

Yeah I'd like to help you guys restore things. It's my pleasure to serve you all.

[-] 1 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 8 years ago

No problem :) Just doing what I can.

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

we lost a physical reference flag namely occupy wall street

memories White flag - dido (MMV V for vendetta)

[-] 1 points by lugano (1221) 8 years ago

How about removing the ''stinkle'' option jart? Thanks for (hopefully) restoring this still important forum to its original state .. when shilling for The Democratic Party, was once frowned on! 99% Solidarity to you!

[-] 3 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 8 years ago

Hmm I think I might do that. Give me some more time to think about it.

[-] 2 points by lugano (1221) 8 years ago

Some things still a bit glitchy around here jart. It does come up ''Internal Server Error'' - quite often but refreshing reconnects. Thanks for reinstating points/voting but it doesn't quite seem to be equally and universally applied. Please do keep cogitating on removing the ''stinkle'' though + 99% Solidarity @ U!

[-] 1 points by Renneye (3874) 8 years ago

Yep. I can report the same thing from Canada.

I have to refresh the page several times before it reconnects.

[-] 2 points by lugano (1221) 8 years ago

New Server and updates and tweaks, still need tweaking it seems. At this time of a Neoliberal Bankers' Coup in Greece - it is important that we can post easily here and show our Solidarity With Greece now on this OWS Forum. Re. Greece, also fyi.... http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article42368.htm It's also difficult to ''edit'' comments like I just did so as to add the link to Yannis Varoufakis' ^interview^.

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

yep connection error bad gateway

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

mostly used to favor ideas and posts I like

[-] 1 points by lugano (1221) 8 years ago

Would you be interested in being a ''mod'' here, Matt?

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

yes

actually, I'm not interested in anyone that supports airstrikes so we got a lot of politicians on other subjects which I'm not interested in reading about to properly moderate

I am certainly tired of the two party "debate"

[-] 1 points by lugano (1221) 8 years ago

You don't have to be interested in every single subject matter that arises here, Matt - you just have to be impartial and attentive to the 'Posting Rules' on this forum and just show no fear or favour and be mindful to basic manners and decency. With you not having any paRDisan bias, I think that you would make an excellent mod here. Would you mind if I was to canvas the opinion of other posters here on this matter?

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

OK i can moderate

[-] 1 points by lugano (1221) 8 years ago

If you're willing to moderate this forum Matt, well - you get my vote. It's now up to others to either agree or disagree with that before we submit that to jart for consideration. + I would suggest that you consider going through "Read Rules Before Posting'' but more interestingly per your Anti-War interests, I strongly recommend this item to you : http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article42333.htm Solidarity Matt, we'll see what happens as we go forward.

Before the point system was removed, many complained about "the twinkle team" when the system was remove it is the same people that are complaining. Renneye posts far more about twinkle team and sign up page than she does about wealth inequality or money in politics. There are those who seek to use the point system as a way to shut down any actual debate on the issues or any effective manner to address them. Unless you are willing to set back and let the GOP win all your comments are automatically downvoted by certain people. I have suggested post a number refelting total number of posts and or comments for individuals and ranking posts by the activity they generate. I believe this setting around and talking about the problem is something we can no longer afford, we must act and suggesting action results in automatic downvotes. If you need "evidence" of look at the forum renneye complains about me and DK, because we refuse to think that it is OK for the GOP to win, yet lugano makes far more comment than either of us but since all his stuff is about hating on Dems he gets a pass, of course he has been banned under Shadz long ago and other times too i think, but if you hate the Dems you can even be a tax cutting con like turbo and get a pass with this bunch, just so long as you hate the dems that's all they care about. Hating the dems is what gave us W Bush, do you really want it to give us Jeb!? Anyway I did read your wiki, so i guess you understand numbers a bit, i once ran a nuclear power plant so I do too a bit, I also understand generations, or processes that repeat, and how systems can fail when unbalanced, our system became unbalanced in the 1980's, I noticed it then and started talking about it now it has gotten bad enough that more people are noticing, but the forces that brought us here have not changed, it's about to get much worse.

[-] 3 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 8 years ago

To be honest, I don't particularly care for the dems or the GOP. They both seem to want the same thing, with the exception of Bernie and Trump, who actually express real opinions. But I doubt they'll even make it to the presidential race. I'd be shocked if it isn't Hillary vs. Bush with Hillary winning.

[-] 2 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

I know a lot of people that don't particularly like to discuss politics at all, most the people I know just don't want to get involved.

That could very well be, Hillary v Jeb! but I think Jeb! has a much better chance than people give him credit for, nobody thought his brother could win but Nader changed the game and America got W Bush a lot of people were shocked.

I do wonder at people who see things like TPP passing with 4 to 1 support of the GOP and 5 to 1 opposition from the Dems and they say yeah but Obama and ignore the numbers, ignoring the numbers is what has led to the top 1% owning 95% of the country. I can kind of understand because our political system requires our elected leaders to go on bended knee to the wealthy to be able to run, I guess for the totally blind they might not see the tremendous difference the opposing "right to work" laws and supporting them I guess learning stuff is hard and a lot of people just don't want to. But hey it's all working for the 1%, today Scott Walker is announcing after busting the public unions he got "right to work" passed, I guess he's not much different than Hillary to a lot of people, Hillary is richer.

I think that it is extremely obvious that the GOP has worked for decades to make the rich richer and money more powerful, the Dems are far from perfect but on this they are light years ahead of the GOP. As a nuclear operator I gained a great deal of respect for balanced systems, the US economic system is greatly unbalanced and the GOP will make it more so, I feel it is vital that this trend be reversed, so any wishy washy half measures to remove the GOP from power to me is completely unacceptable. of course there are those on the site who want a more unbalanced system, they think that will help to bring it down, a lot of people will lose everything before that happens, and it seems killing the GOP would be a safer way to bring down the system, after all the ladder of power will fall without one of its legs.

I do appreciate you setting up the forum, I came to OWS because I heard there were others who had noticed the the rich were too damn rich and I wanted to talk to them about what could be done. Unfortunately I found a lot of people with a bunch of conditions before they would act, people who could so clearly see what needed to be done they ruled it out before they started.

PS: Trump expresses real opinions, Sanders is expressing a lot of real facts, there is a difference.

[-] 1 points by Renneye (3874) 8 years ago

In recent memory, I have 'complained' about DK and a couple of other bellicose forum members, exactly 2 times....and, Never you by name. I've Never complained about or used the words 'twinkle team', EVER, to my recollection. What ARE you talking about???

You are a manipulator of 'facts'. And, may I say, an uncouth one, at that. Post patent lies about me, frf, and I Will set it straight.

Recently, on the rare occasion when I post...yes, my comments are most definitely carefully chosen to evoke the kind of policy that garners forum health. Strengthens the forum in such a manner that it grows the number of people who wish to sign up and contribute, and protects those people by embracing equality here. Their equal chance at being seen and heard. That's 'equality and fairness' on this forum.

Get it?!

This forum is so very important! Though I have posted much about 'A People's Society', Direct Participatory Democracy, naming and removing the oligarchs, and Love of Humanity, since October 2011, I haven't posted as much as I would like to lately. This is temporary. But, even as I am on posting hiatus, I want this forum to flourish, expand, and be even more than a forum. The potential is enormous. I want that for EVERYONE. This forum is a living historic document, evolving, changing with the times as the future's current events dictate. Eventually, I hope, to the point where it is the People's Society (via this website), that dictate on our collective behalf and not the ruling elite.

I want this forum to be here in evolutionary perpetuity, so that my kids can post here when they are old enough...and their kids after that.

I can see why growing the number of OWS like-minded people poses a problem for you, 'frf'.

'Evolution of Love' WILL happen. It will be two steps forward, and one step back...but, it will never be stopped.

Get on board, 'manipulator of facts', and hang on tight. Don't be afraid. Conservatives under all faux labels welcome. You're in for an amazing ride!

Oh jart! That's such incredibly good news!

Thank you!

I'm so gobsmacked, I'm almost speechless! Almost...lol!

If there's anything you need/want help with, please let me know.

You know, such as, the things I wrote about a while back about this forum and members becoming a world-wide humanity-loving co-operative, and such. Yes?

[-] 1 points by jart (1186) from New York, NY 8 years ago

It's my pleasure.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 8 years ago

Your request for the return of the point system - seems a little disingenuous. There are so few users on the site - that comments generally stay in sight for over 24 hours on just the regular comment board - comments on the best comment board were never on it longer than a day.

[-] 1 points by Renneye (3874) 8 years ago

Don't question my love for humanity, DK. No need to talk to me about disingenuous.

This is exactly the kind of comments I'm talking about, DK...though a little luke-warm compared to your typical dispute. I don't have time for it, and neither do most of the people here who have some semblance of a life in addition to the forum...whether they post or just check in to read.

Why don't you take a look at a good debate site. That seems to be what you enjoy doing. Wouldn't you get more satisfaction in that kind of deliberation and rebutting?

And no, you're wrong. If, you, for instance, are here for an hour, or all day like you often are and fill up the whole comment section...and I, for instance, who have gotten beyond tired of your argumentative nature and don't want to read your comments any more...then I have to go searching for the other members' comments. That takes precious time, that I don't have.

Also, certainly, if jart were to open the sign up page again, the amount of members and users would rejuvenate and fill up the comments section exponentially, and there again it would be difficult to find the comments that best exemplify OWS core values.

From a voter's point of view, it would seem to me, with the number of people here who have expressed their view on wanting the voting system and best comments system back in working order...that you're outvoted.

[-] 1 points by beautifulworld (23772) 8 years ago

Right. The voting is very important to the quality of the forum because it provides the ability to see pertinent and interesting comments quickly. And, of course, we all, except maybe DKA, want lots of people posting here and for their to be loads of comments, not just enough to fill up the screen for 24 hours, that is ridiculous. That is not okay.
