Forum Post: Negating the African-American Vote

Can someone tell me what the Democratic party is doing to prevent the disenfranchisement of African-American voters throughout the South by changing laws requiring identification that this group is hard-pressed to produce? In many Southern states citizens are required to have a driver's license in order to register to vote, but if they are unemployed they more than likely do not drive. Thus they are forced out of line and cannot vote. I live in New Jersey and would like to work with some local group to ensure we get the African-American voters to the polls on election day and keep the extreme Republican party out of the White House and also to gain control over the whole of Congress.

Well, just this week thousands are re-creating the march from Selma to Montgomery to draw attention to this issue.

That's a hell of a good question! You should go directly to the DNC and demand an answer!

you know in Indiana we have voter ID laws it helps the system be more efficient but you don't see us complaining about it. We are also not the only state that has it. If you read the proposal anyone who does not have an ID will be given a free one by a van that is going around printing them off. Read and then post.

How does it help the system be more"efficent"?Who exactly is"us"?What proposal written by who?Written for who?Given a free one?Can anyone get a "Free one"? How do you get a free one? What kind of Van drives into a neighborhood giving out free ones?

  1. how it helps by getting rid of voter fraud. 2. Indiana citizens do not complain about the law in place. 3 it was the governor of North Carolina or some Representative in that state proposed it. 4 for the citizens in that state. 5,6 yes given a free ID in the proposal i dont know the whole speculation on it so i assume anyone from the state. 7 you get a free one by doing paper work. 8 i assume that it will be a less exciting ice cream truck handing out ID's

This is a non issue. If you can't produce something as simple as ID then you are too fucked up to vote. Do you have any evidence that this would negate the entire black vote?
