November 26, 2011 (New York, NY) —Rev. Al Sharpton and National Action Network (NAN), along with partners in labor, civil rights, and clergy from across the country, will hold a rally in over 25-cities on December 9th, 2011 as a follow-up to the mass march for jobs and justice that NAN held October 15, 2011, the weekend of the unveiling of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial on the National Mall. The 25-city rallies will call attention to key issues that have not been remedied in this country. As working Americans struggle to gain employment and livable wages, we continue to watch rampant attacks on workers rights and increasing joblessness across the country. The rallies will be held in cities that are most impacted by the joblessness and attacks on workers rights including, but not limited to: Cleveland, OH, Columbus, OH, Richmond, VA, Miami, FL, Jacksonville, FL, Las Vegas, NV, Milwaukee, WI, Indianapolis, IN, Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, Columbia, SC, Memphis, TN, Houston, TX, Dallas, TX, Montgomery, AL, Shreveport, LA, Detroit, MI, Philadelphia, PA, New York City, Boston, MA, New Haven, CT, Chicago, IL, and Baltimore, MD.

Among the unions partnering with NAN on the 25-city rally are the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), with whom NAN has aligned with to call attention to key issues impacting unions.

In recent years, too many American families have lost economic ground. Over the decade ending in 2009, median family income fell by $3,800. And the gap between the wealthiest Americans and those with the least is growing every day, making it tougher to enter into the middle class. With African American unemployment at an unacceptable 15%, this is a clear sign that we need action-inaction is not an option.

The march and rally NAN held on October 15th included Co-Hosts Rev. Al Sharpton and Tom Joyner, and co-sponsors for the event were: Randi Weingarten, President of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) and Lee Saunders, Secretary-Treasurer of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). The event Co-Chairs were: Richard L. Trumka, President of American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson, Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church & Chairman of National Action Network, Dennis Van Roekel, President of National Education Association (NEA), Larry Cohen, President of Communications Workers of America (CWA), George Gresham, President of 1199 SEIU Healthcare Workers East, Marc Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League, Wade Henderson, President and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights (LCCHR) and Norman Seabrook- President of Correction Officers Benevolent Association (COBA). Michael Baisden, host of the Michael Baisden show was a March partner. The National Clergy Director was Reverend Willie F. Wilson from Union Temple Baptist Church.

I have to agree! Rev. Sharpton is openly joining in to get publicity. The guy is a big joke and a person who committed tax evasion. Don't let him represent us the People!

sharpton set race relations in NYC back 20 years with his horrible tawana brawley hoax. he then fanned the flames of racial tension that led to the freddy's fashion mart murders. the man is a cancer. a despicable racial ambulance chaser and greedy scumbag who wouldn't know work if it landed on him.

he is poison. so, naturally, the left loves him. the left praises him. he is seen on stage with former democratic party presidents hand in hand.

how sickening. he cannot be defended and if the left had any decency it would shun him forever. instead the left embraces this scumbag fraud. disgraceful!
