All the rabid haters, the ones who arent concerned with building consensus (some openly state they would continually attack fellow anarchists and libertarians and communists at an occupation) should be thrilled with tonights State of the Union address. They should be screaming "We love you Rand Paul"....and here's why:
Rubio is giving the official response. Rand is giving his own response. The split in the Republican Party is obviously far from over, and Rand giving his own response is only furthering that.
I personally think its a waste of time to attempt to rebuild either of these parties when considering the length of their existence, their current 9% approval rating of the general public combined, and their reluctance to speak on even the most harmless of issues in any meaningful manner.
100+ years of corruption is going to take decades to turn around, at the best. At the worst, its just falling for the same stick and carrot tricks of the last 100 years.
Creating something that appeals to the broad base of Americans who have lost hope altogether, lost hope in a particular party, or have been waiting for a real alternative would be the easiest route, and the route that would last the longest without becoming corrupted (all positions of power become corrupted sooner or later).
Plus it would be a hell of a lot more fun, allow for the real truth to be discussed, and would be something that everyone could be proud of and feel a real level of acceptance. Working for the machine simply doesnt provide that. And that feeling is what makes big things happen.
So, with all that being said, its going to be very tough to change the attacking emotional responses that we see all over TV, internet chatrooms and bars and country clubs from one side of this country to another. The Nader complex wants only one thing- to destroy the other side. There is no accountability, no real idea speak, nothing accept attack and win. Win at all costs. Each side has a substantial amount of it in the their real base (only about 20% of the total eligible voters), but the good thing is it is shrinking.
The awakening of creating something back to the people is increasing. Its not happening fast enough or with enough vigor, but is at least there for the time being. So while we are going to see the same lame one-half-claps-while-the-other-side-sits nonsense tonight, do not become discouraged. Realizing what is going on is the main part. Like realizing Santa isnt real.
Once you are there, you cannot go back.
