Clearly the Republicans AND the Democrats are beholden to their financial supporters (especially now that corporations have been deemed people!) - the United States needs more options than "worst" and "slightly better than worst" - we need a Green Party and other options that actually represent the common people's interests.

The system of election by districts like is done in the US and UK tends to move things towards a two party system. Ireland, France and Germany have different systems. www.fairvote.org is the organization in the US that is leading efforts to move the US towards a multiparty system.

Well, the two-party system certainly isn't working here; maybe we need to rethink our style of govt entirely.

they exist already. And they fail every election cycle. multiple parties work best with parliamentary-style governments...

Ireland is a little different system-and a very stable one. In Ireland folks rank candidates and their vote goes to the highest ranking person that can actually win. The system is called STV. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_transferable_vote
