Forum Post: Moveon.org needs to go!

Posted 13 years ago on Oct. 18, 2011, 9:55 p.m. EST by moediggity (646) from Houston, TX
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

These guys have shown up at our sites,at our protests under the guise of unity and change. Since they have shown up,they have constantly been seen hocking pro-obama messages and speaking to the press on our behalf,WITHOUT OUR FORMAL PERMISSION. Furthermore, we have made it clear, since day one, that no one speaks for us except OWS. We have asked them time after time to refrain from doing this, but they refuse to listen. We caught them at our Las Vegas gatherings "speaking on our behalf" with a pro-re-elect obama message. We have caught them at other gatherings doing the exact same thing. Now we have caught them trying to,not only scam our movement, but scam our donations as well. Many of OWS were members of moveon.org because of the bush years. Many of us were on their mailing lists. So imagine my surprise when I open my email and see exactly this http://www.occupyr.com/News/thread.php?id=201

(I even have the email in my account. Screenshots will be put up if requested)

So in conclusion, I am asking you all to sign this petiton demanding that moveon.org leave our movement.(and yes,I made it thru their site because I'm a huge fan of irony and its a little bit of an extra slap in the face.) :D This is to save our movement. We are also being infiltrated by other pro obama groups as well. (operating from craigslist of all places)

Please take a moment to sign and share. http://signon.org/sign/formally-demand-that?source=c.url&r_b...

I so agree. The movement does not need to be aligned with any organization , let alone MoveOn.

I don't mind orgs. supporting or joining, they just need to know who speaks for us and who is in charge. If they respect that, the more the merrier I'll say. Moveon.org has over stepped their boundaries for the last time and this taking money from us is the last frigging straw.

Greaaaaaaaaaat...Now we need 200 signatures instead of the original 50 that was needed to submit this!

[-] 2 points by davidp (4) 13 years ago

We want to unify the 99%.
I agree with them most of the time, but there is a far left-wing stigma associated with moveon that will cost millions of supporters.

They are really dicking us over as far as I can tell. I mean honestly, showing up and taking to the press going "yay obama(thats extremely paraphrased)" and then leaving. These guys aren't doing jack for the movement.

Moveon does not seem too grass roots to me

http://moveon.org/about.html#political

Near the bottom right there is a clickable picture with a lot of stats. Average donation $43 and so forth.

It does have a very large volunteer network though the internet, and has worked on issues that concern OWS.

I didn't care for Moveon using OWS to raise money, but at least they were citing OWS as an opportunity for further action, not as the boogey man.

Well, we're in little Palm Coast, FL and we only have MoveOn! We fully support OWS and it's desire for independence. But, who in Palm Coast runs OWS? From whom do we get permission to protest on your behalf here? We ARE the 99%, too!

We need to get as many groups to support our ideas as we can.

You all need to put on your big (or girl) boy pants, and step into the real world...

Which organizations are involved? List needed.

[-] 1 points by Jay31 (60) 13 years ago

Thank you for the link.

The best solution for this matter is separation. In which the ows members will be able to be addressed as the OWS members.

Pick a clothing accessories everyone (meaning everyone in the ows from September 17th that has been present) feel comfortable wearing?

And this includes one of two accessories only.

example: hats and belts. NO OTHER ACCESSORIES. JUST ONE OF THOSE TWO FOR THE OCCUPIERS OF WALL STREET, THE EVENT THAT TOOK PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 17TH OF 2011.

This will bring a pause on who will be speaking on behalf of ows until further permission from ows members.

Thank you for your time.

How about MoveOn Fuck Off t-shirts?

No.

Good for OWS. As we all know there are the original Tea Partiers (possibly not that bad), and there is the co-opted Tea Party we have today, doing things the original rank and file where completely against.

Would hate to see the democrats try to do the same to OWS.

nd if you support this petition you won't see that happening. I even used their own site for a sense of irony and so they will "get it".

The just posted some propaganda on one of my posts thanking me for their support bla bla bla

I've signed that petition. I cannot say that moveon.org supports the US constitution and have tried to get them to dialogue in support of it for an Article 5 convention, to no avail. If they are doing what they are doing which you describe, then they gotta' go. A permanent virtual occupation of wall street can be achieved by an Article 5 convention. Amendments preventing any more manipulation of money markets by the corrupt corporations can be formally made via Article V. Dominate wall street is what it is.--

Efforts to get a skype conference on Article 5 are starting. http://www.articlevmeeting.info/

We need groups such as Move On to support a movement such as yours. You can not stand alone.

[-] 3 points by SanityScribe (452) 13 years ago

No. They don't need groups. What they do need, is the PEOPLE from those groups. The groups leaders and organizers are part of the brainwashing machine.

[-] 2 points by moediggity (646) from Houston, TX 13 years ago

They are doing more damage to us than anything. I mean really, wheres all of the help from them to combat the smears against us? Have they even showed up with any supplies to any of the rallies at all? So far, all that I have seen is them jumping on our movement and then started a "re-elect obama 2012" message, thus undermining our voice and our movement. Im cool with others joining and all of that jazz. but they don't seem to know who is in charge here.

[-] 1 points by LetsGetReal (1420) from Grants, NM 13 years ago

Why can't we stand alone?

[-] 0 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 13 years ago

Don't fall for this shit people. If you sign this petition you will be put on a MoveOn.org mailing list.

[-] 1 points by moediggity (646) from Houston, TX 13 years ago

The fuck are you talking about?

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 13 years ago

That's what happened to me buddy! I signed it and now I get shit in my inbox from them every morning. You tell me.

[-] 1 points by moediggity (646) from Houston, TX 13 years ago

so then unsubscribe you lazy ass!

[-] 1 points by gnomunny (6819) from St Louis, MO 13 years ago

That's not the fucking point. asshole. I sign something saying MoveOn get out, next thing I know they're saying, "Hello, MoveOn member." Sounds like a scam to me.

[-] 1 points by moediggity (646) from Houston, TX 13 years ago

You friggin paranoid nutball! go unsubscribe! goddamn I can't believe that there really are people this retarded and lazy. Not everything is a scam numbnuts!

[-] 0 points by booshington (397) 13 years ago

Shut the fuck up about MoveOn already. God damn.

Nobody is trying to STEAL A FUCKING PROTEST. OWS should be happy they're promoting the protests and the messages all over the damn place.

Go to their site and tell me what's wrong with it concerning OWS.

[-] 3 points by moediggity (646) from Houston, TX 13 years ago

Well for starters, they have imposed themselves as our public speakers at our protests, and now are trying to take donations away from the movement. stop trying to kiss their asses! Ever since they have shown up its been nothing but trouble with them since day one.

[-] 0 points by riethc (1149) 13 years ago

Soros run MoveOn.org, silly

[-] 1 points by booshington (397) 13 years ago

Again, who cares?

[-] 1 points by riethc (1149) 13 years ago

Why wouldn't you care? Soros made his billions currency speculating, collapsing whole countries' economies. He's a professional manipulator and he'll try to manipulate OWS to his purposes too.
