The National Campaign to End Corporate Personhood and Demand Real Democracy! Move to Amend
Dear Dan,
Move to Amend is barnstorming across the Midwest, and we're coming to a town near you! Catch a talk in your area, and learn how you can get involved in the campaign to end corporate personhood and demand real democracy!
David Cobb, a fiery speaker and former Green Party presidential candidate, is touring the country giving his talk "Creating Democracy & Challenging Corporate Rule." This presentation is part history lesson and part heart-felt call-to-action! David gives a rousing one hour talk telling the story of the American creation myth and the Constitution as it pertains to Corporate Personhood and illegitimate but legal corporate constitutional rights, followed by about an hour of facilitated discussion. All events are open to the general public. We appreciate your donations to help us finance these tours, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.
9/14/2012 support for overturning Citizens United:
So far this cycle, my race in Ohio has been the #1 Senate target for far-right special interest groups, which have spent more than $17 million against me with more coming.
It's an unprecedented amount of spending, and we all know why it's happening this year -- the Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United has unleashed a torrent of special interest cash, and brought the corruptive influence of corporate money down on our democracy.
That's why I've teamed up with the DSCC and Democrats across the country to overturn the effects of this decision by building momentum to pass a constitutional amendment.
471,685 of you have joined the fight to end Citizens United by signing our petition. But we need to keep that momentum going strong. And since we're only about 7 weeks away from Election Day, I want to add 7,000 more signers to our effort right now.

The process of passing a constitutional amendment is painstakingly slow, and requires that we continue to apply strong pressure.

Yeah I used to have a fb account - I chucked that when they were going public.
Well, as you probably know, your account is still there and any info you ever put on that site is now Zuck's property, pictures, personal info, etc. Did you see that article about FB's ad scam? Apparently up to 80% of the clicks are from bots. I'm thinking their IPO was their apex. It's gonna be all downhill from here.

Yeah electronic scam crap really pisses me off. If they keep My information I could sue them as I opted out with the destroy/delete all information option.
Ah, but you agreed to all that in their 'Terms of Agreement.' They knew the overwhelming majority of people never read that and they took advantage. That's devious, and says a lot about those guys.
There was already a court case and determination about that - the court said that they could not do that and had to get separate permissions/approvals - the only approval I ever gave was for them to send me message notices to my e-mail.
I like! Apparently there are a lot of people pissed off about that. Glad to hear it. But, the ways corporations are nowadays, a court case is no guarantee they won't try something sneaky and underhanded. Good luck on that.
Thanks - yeah - who knows someday I may see a notice for a group law suit - have you or a loved ones personal information been exposed on facebook - call this 800 number and see if you qualify for joining this lawsuit against FB.
That would be cool.
I have a feeling that attorneys are about the only ones who make out on those kinda deals - but who knows? Rather it did not come-up I guess. f'n sick and litigious society.

We’re excited to announce that the Stampede to Amend is launching in a few weeks!
Starting October 2, Move to Amend organizers will be touring the country with the “Amend-O-Matic," a giant machine/vehicle that will serve as a public art spectacle, information center, and money stamping machine.
People can insert their dollar bills and receive them back imprinted with messages of "A Corporation is Not a Person. Money Is Not Speech." and "Not to Be Used for Bribing Politicians" and, "The System Isn't Broken, It's Fixed."
Our organizers will also be holding community workshops on how to build the movement to abolish Corporate Personhood. This will be a great opportunity to get more involved in this rapidly growing national movement!

The Supreme Court made a mess when it issued the Citizens United decision. And now progressives like you and me have a chance to clean it up.
After all, we do big things -- like fighting to protect Medicare and Social Security, demanding that the wealthy pay their fair share to solve our deficit problem, and rebuilding a battered manufacturing sector and a struggling middle class.
