Hello,

I am a huge supporter of OWS. At this critical point in the movement, I think it would make a huge statement if those OWS advocates in NYC who have access to hundreds of thousand of dollars of donations used that money for a large, all or nothing purpose. I believe you should spend a large part of that money to charter buses and bring OWS supporters from all around the country to NYC in order to organize a massive march and occupy of Wall St. This would magnify your message and make such a dramatic showing at once that people would be forced to pay attention once again. The trouble now is that the public begins to grow accustomed to the movement as a constant in our daily lives. Something big needs to happen, and I believe this event would be perfect.

Good luck to you all.

That idea is extremely flawed.

Nothing is ever going to be accomplished by "occupying" NY or any other city.

The only way any change will come about is if every member of this movement went to Washington D.C. and "occupied" the National Mall.

If you got hundreds of thousands of people down there, you would get all the media attention you need and public sympathy may turn in your favor.

You need to be protesting at the seat of power. Wall Street can't pass any laws or make any changes. Only the political process can do that.

Unless you directly protest the seat of power, nothing is ever going to happen and the public is just going to get very tired of this movement. More so than it already is.

This is a very good point. As soon as I posted my original comment it occurred to me that perhaps DC would be a better place to gather. However there are some considerations:

1) The government already passed some baking regulatory laws which have not been enforced because of how much the politicians are in the pockets of the banks.

2) The root of the corruption is in NYC. Protesting there, directly on the doorstep of the people who did this, brings home to those people directly the arrogance and belligerence of their actions, and would hopefully shame them enough through massive popular anger into changing their ways.

Perhaps going from NYC on a trek to DC would be what to do. A migration of sorts, to start at the root of the greed and end at the seat of power and emphasize that the connection between these two places needs to be altered in a fundamental way.

The root of the corruption is in D.C.

The corruption could not exist without the willing participation and acceptance of government and those that comprise government.

It is an absolute waste of time to protest on Wall Street. It always has and always will be.

The entire Occupy movement should come down to DC and camp in Anacostia Park, site of the original Bonus March Encampment in 1932. Do what the Bonus Marchers did. Set up a clean, formal encampment. I'm sure there are enough sponsors who will pay for potties and showers.

Then, every day, all those at the encampment should get up at 6:30 a.m. and march down Maryland Avenue to the Capitol and spend the day visiting their Senators and Representatives. Every day until they get something done, like a nationwide Section 8 subsidy program so that everyone pays 1/3 of their monthly income for housing.

Let's get organized, Fellow Workers!

I've posted this elsewhere, and I hope you'll give me some leeway. I think this is a suggestion worth considering:

I like the idea of chartering buses but the destination should be DC.

Sounds like someone who wants to see OWS toss money away irresponsibly. Especially when someone says gee, only voting and politics make a dif!erence. The misdirection is not necessary as we are only pointing and laughing at you.

the seeds of the National General Assembly have been sown. All roads lead to Philadelphia, where history was made long ago. Can each local GA not reach consensus within themselves that a NGA is a logical next step, inform NYCGA, and throw the required CHUMP CHANGE at it to get everyone to learn why Philadelphia matters? OWS has to stop shooting itself in the foot! Do we have to occupy #OWS??? https://sites.google.com/site/the99percentdeclaration/
