I have an idea If you make less then 20,000 a year supporting your self or a family: NO TAX 20,001 to 35,000 10%............. 35,001-55,000 15%............... 55,001-70,000 20%............. 70,001-85,000 25%............ 85,001-100,000 30%.............. 100,001 and over 40%................ No tax breaks period!!! Deductions ,check with microscope. No BS will be tolerated. ....Only cost of doing business.....Made 100,000, cost for material, fuel costs, insurance paper ,tools: (You get the idea) would be acceptable. Everything else strait tax!!! Paying our fair share......This allows us to live at all levels....You still have classes of people. Just better spacing. tier 1 used cars,-tier 2 new car,-tier 3 new car every 5 years,-tier 4 new car every 3 -tier 5 new fancy cars--tier 6 get the best. This is only an example: .............................................. Everyone gets enough to live....The numbers above are after tax: you would have to earn the amount stated after being taxed ,IE 22,001-10% take home 20,001 if less scales slide

The only reason for my post is to expose the GREED.I can prove I'm worth my weight. I'm skilled enough to order, build, ship, bill and account. With the products that I build ,I can generate10.000 dollars a week.If I sold them at walmart. What can my bosses do?? Last I heard there was no big sale on Executives. And I don't get bonuses for just being good at my job. I just get to keep it. STOP THE BS I WON'T BE FLEECED AGAIN

[-] 1 points by kingscrossection (1203) 12 years ago

So 1890 a month? At 2200 a month that leaves 310 dollars a month left over. If you save the 300 and then take the 10 off for a couple months then you can afford to go out every once in a while. That is assuming I didn't miss anything in my math.

[-] 1 points by caughtya (32) from Elmer, NJ 12 years ago

The costs above are only the controlled costs. (paper bills). Even they can fluctuate, and are subject to change. I forgot to list the cost of a car. I pay the amount I stated to car pool to work. Public transportation is not available in the boondocks; where the rent is cheap. So add another 30.00 a week in gas, and don't forget about auto insurance costs. So 310 minus 120 for gas 98 for car insurance. That leaves about 100 a month, IF YOU STAY HEALTHY, and don't run into any UNFORTUNATE PROBLEMS . That's about 3 dollars a day. Remember you worked HARD all week for all of this. So if your TAKE HOME PAY is 13.75 an hour , you just make it. If you think its a joke, Man up and try it

No one was questioning you man hood, I was only trying to figure out where you wren't saving a lot of money every month.

The cost of living in real terms for new jersey. As a single male working a regular job you you need to take home 550.00 a week to survive. I mean only basics,150.00 a week for food,40.00 a week transportation,20.00 a week laundry. If you smoke ,quit ,you cant afford it. Internet access comes from the library. If you have health insurance great, remember copay, and prescriptions. Depressed yet.For entertainment get cable 40.00 a month or read when your at the library for free internet. Cheap rent 850.00 (565 sqr ft) 65.00 a month for electric 55.00 a month for gas and 40.00 a month phone. What ever is left you better save because Dr bills and emergencies always come up when you least expect it

In San Fransisco the minimum wage is $10.36 and hour.

[-] 2 points by TitusMoans (2451) from Boulder City, NV 12 years ago

That's true, but the average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in SF is nearly $2,000. The cheapest one-bedroom would probably still go for close to $1,500.

SF houses over 750,000 people in 49 square miles. Population density is over 17,000 per square mile. The only cheap place to live in SF is on the street.

Cost of living in SF is 158.3, while in the average American city cost of living is 100.

More or less, $10.36 an hour won't buy you much in SF.

Too true.

minimum wage gives you maximum effort(offer). Some good food(vegetables) you can find in dumpsters at Manhattan supermarkets. Some good clothes you'll find in second hand store. even shoes could be second handed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFMytMLlShM (Black PR commercial of second hand shoes store in Manhattan) . This is A m e r i c a ! ! !

Good!! You eat out of a trash bin after breaking your ass for 40 hrs doing hard labor. You get the point??...If not try it!!..Then tell us what you think!! If you don't practice ,Don't preach. If this is supposed to help Thank You!!.......... Otherwise don't hold a different standard for your self. Ware these shoes a while, only then will the problem be addressed quickly and corrected.

I must say, if you have to "live alone" and depend on "minimum wage" you are in a "world of hurt".

Minimum wage is for "high school" kids wanting to work "while they are in school".

Once a person graduates, a decision should be made on what he/she wants to do as far as their "occupation" is concerned.

Once that is determined, the next step is to "focus" on that and improve ones "skills in the art of their occupation" so that they can "increase their income'.

Once that has been accomplsihed, the next step is to have a "goal". A goal that will "continue to improve ones income".

Now, if you look at the "overall picture" you will see that "minimum wage" means "nothing" during a "persons lifetime" and "it shoudn't" for it is a "starting point".

So, if a person thinks it's wise to get married, have children all on a "nimum wage", that person needs to have his "nuts cut".

It is "riducilous" to think that it's ok to have a "family" making a "minimum wage".

You live in a very strange world.

Where is this place at?

[-] -2 points by Galt01 (55) 12 years ago

Minimum wage is not intended to live on. That's for kids. If you are 25 years old making minimum wage you need to figure out what you did wrong. Get a life.

I'm 48 . I was 3 years away from 20 yr retirement. For 25 years I built my skills and knowledge. I.m no dummy. Because I made my my bones the old fashion way by actually building the company up to where it is today. I did nothing wrong. It was the GREED. Thinking I might take their job, I m over qualified. The safe place for them. keep me down

huh?

[-] 1 points by caughtya (32) from Elmer, NJ 12 years ago

The owners got old and sold the business. The new owners embraced me, until they had a turn key operation and every thing was in place. Not caring for the fact I ran the place while in transition,or I the fact set it all up to what it is today. They felt the pay for a guy with out a degree,no matter his skills and capabilities, should not exceed 30,000 yr. . It's a shame to them! 180 million dollar business got rid of me to save a lousy buck and to quell the fears of the person above me. Knowing fully I actually did know the job better. After all ,-I taught him!!!! Do you really think I'll get a glowing reference? If I show up anywhere and give the competition the edge,He might loose his job for letting me go.

what's your point?

[-] 1 points by caughtya (32) from Elmer, NJ 12 years ago

Even though legal,is it right? FORD made the Model T: Came up with the concept, innovated the process and got all the credit and the money! Rightfully so Unless he took someones idea and by unscrupulous but LEGAL means and claimed it for himself. Only doing it for personal gain. If you think this OK being LEGAL but not MORAL Your the kind of guy I blog about! If not.... I hope this got the point across more clearly Think about it with your eyes closed: Would you want to be the guy who's idea it was?

Who says you should live on the minimum wage? See, the problems you cite aren't a reason for government, they're a reason for you to get off your ass. It should be great motivation to stay in school, not get a criminal record, not get knocked up, not take drugs, and to take any job as a start. But it isn't because government will take care of you anyways.

it should also be some motivation to close the fucking border. Liberals do weep for people with low incomes, but then wave-in masses of effectively 6th grade educated servants destined OBVIOUSLY to earn minimum wage OR LESS. Anyone opposed? Racists, of course. LOL.

[-] 1 points by caughtya (32) from Elmer, NJ 12 years ago

That's easy to say. I worked for 17 years at the same place. 13 of which I was in charge of production.I was laid off to bring in cheaper less experienced people. To get around it ;they say the job requires a degree, and I'm over qualified for other positions. Unless you walk in my shoes , don't judge. I'm not some kid I'm 48 and could probably do you job. The problem is GREED

[-] 0 points by Ninetyninenot (-57) 12 years ago

Greed? Sorry, it isn't. Let's see where you shop. Are you in the habit of over-paying for things? Ever feel proud of a deal you've gotten? Oh, I get it, it's OK when YOU do it. But if someone else does it and doesn't give you your way, then it's greed.

Well at least you had the brains to save along the way and to not borrow a bunch of money, right? Thankfully you weren't dumb enough to have a car note and credit card balances, right?

I'm not judging, I'm assessing.

And if you really are in need of working for minimum wage, unless that's what's become of your value and skills, you'll do better soon. I wish that for you. But if not, then call your congressman and demand that we enforce our immigration laws. The last thing you need is millions of imported peasants blowing the bottom off of the wage scales for unskilled labor.

Can you really say you earned the money you make,or---You deserve to make that???The difference is I can actually earn my money(hard work) I don't skim off the top saying I deserve it.
