So I got to see Mikey in person last night. Am I being paranoid? Or does something not seem right? I don't know - just thinking about how the tea party got Sarah Palin for a spokesperson unwillingly.

Also, how much has Mr. Moore donated to Occupy Wall St? He's a mega millionaire and If he truly cared - especially after the free advertisement he's been getting for the cause?

When he was on TV he should've wrote out a check for $10,000 to support the cause.

New rule: Millionaire celebrities don't get to speak on our behalf without a $10,000 donation to feed the true rebels.

And then because they donated so much money they will hold it over us. Not to mention we have no central leadership to hold that money

No. Nobody speaks on our behalf - speaking on behalf after giving donations? Um, that sounds an awful lot like the system we're protesting...

Ha. Good point. But yeah, I think most people in the movement are vary wary of being co-opted, rightly so. That doesn't mean that we don't use celebrities to gain momentum, though.

I agree, we can certainly use popular figures to gain momentum, but we should be wary of tying ourselves to them.

I like the slogan, "Anyone can join, but nobody gets to lead". Leadership is collective.

Nah, that was my Bill Maher bit. Don't take it literally, but you should get the point.

Were not in this for the money, your greedy way of thinking is exactly what we are against.

[-] 1 points by Truth (50) 12 years ago

You write that after I explain to not take it literally? And although I wasn't serious, I didn't say so we could buy an official "End the Fed" sportbike. I said to feed to people sleeping out there. Is that greed?

It's to illustrate the point that if you want to use the movement for a photo op and your heralded as a figure "for the common man" and you just so happen to have a multi-million dollar lifestyle, FEED the troops. Support the troops.

You children are so tragically ignorant. It's not wall st, but communists like you and your president who are the reason we have injustice and unfairness in this country. Read a history book that isn't written by the government controlled socialist school system you naive kids. For your culminating demonstration, please hold a mass suicide ritual to show us middle classers that you are really really serious about your cause. Then we will listen to you – we promise.

Self-promotion. That bugger doesn't care about anyone but himself.

They see something happening, they run out to the front of the parade and pretend to be leading it. And then the press has something they can really sink their teeth into.
