Michael Moore is a sensationalist prick who capitalizes off of people's general paranoia. Don't listen to a word he says because he's just as bad as Fox.

50 million...lol. The 1% of wealthiest Americans are worth 500+ million. Moore is a peasant. He's a wealthy peasant but still a peasant. The "poorest" person on Forbes 400 is worth 1.05 billion.

Since the 99% percentile point on the IRS income distribution is around $325,000... . I don't think you will find too many people making $325K who have a net worth of $500+ million. Remember that 1% represents 3.3 million Americans.

Income does not always reflect wealth. There's a lot of old money in the U.S. To me, the 1% represents the elite and Moore is certainly not in that category. To be honest, I never liked this 1% or 99% stuff, it just hides the fact that it's only a handful of people who are causing all these problems. A lot of wealthy people actually have nothing to do with Wall St.

Edit: Just to put in into perspective, Donald Trump's mansion in Palm Beach is worth $125 million. $50 million is just not that much.

I saw him on Olbermann last night. They both said that they are in the 1%.

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 12 years ago

i guess he got too much crap for denying it on Piers Morgan and decided to fess up. although his latest blog entry doesn't admit it

He also said something like when people ask him, as part of the 1%, how can you support OWS, isn't that against you? He said that's like asking how someone can support equal rights for gays just because they are not gay themselves.

if you base your career on exposing liars and hypocrites and how much they earn, you should be honest when asked about your own finances.

[-] 1 points by JackPulliam3rd (205) 12 years ago

and btw, his foundation owned Halliburton stock

[-] 1 points by kestrel (274) 12 years ago

There is no real problem with owning Halliburton stock because if you are worried by war money there, you aren't talking Halliburton but Brown & Root.

Then.. ask him to open a free Deli for the 99%'ers...

and a Penthouse Suit with Nannies for the Kids...

oooooh!..Wait, Wait!.. One more thing.. Ask him Stand in front of the Washington Monument Tomorrow .....and Wait for us!!

I am assuming you Can do that... as you just posted that you Talked to him... Right?

He didn't say that he says he is and doesn't mind paying more taxes! Do you have issues with your hearing?

[-] 0 points by kestrel (274) 12 years ago

Somehow, he would like to pay more taxes but seems to be unable to figure out how... heck, I can figure out how to pay more taxes every year, if I wanted. I spent way too many hours trying to figure out to pay less. I could have saved myself hours and paid more.

[-] 1 points by m11talic (9) 12 years ago

He figured out how, when he made his first movie he donated half his earnings to charity, but did not claim the deduction on his taxes that year

well, they don't really mean the 1%, they mean "the .01% with a motives that we don't agree with"...

otherwise, they would have issues with lots of actors, rappers, sport heros who they idolize

Don't worry, he recently said that he can't wait until he's unemployed.
