Dear America, We stood up united against tyranny, oppression, and economic recession. We have accomplished so much in our short time on the face of this earth. We have gained civil rights and liberties to those in the minority, and we have created a place where individual freedoms reign supreme. Although so much has been done to make things good, we cannot overlook the bad that has also become such a common place. Our government is divided, our class system is off balance, and our economy is on life-support. In this time of struggle, the first thing we need to remember is the need for clarity and guidance. We need to understand the direction we want to go, and then support ideas and plans that help accomplish our goals. There are a lot of voices in the country all contributing ideas on how to fix the system, but they are lost in the sea of noise. The first thing we need to do is to clarify our language, in both writing and speech. We must sway away from metaphors, and double-speak. We also must hold all of those we elect to the same standards. In a world where we sugar coat phrases, and use political speak to bypass our questions, we need to set up new standards. We need to know what people are saying. We need to hear what their plan in. We cannot stand for a system that cannot figure out what it is trying to say. There are many problems without our government, but a mass of screaming people will not solve our problems. We need to organize, align, and do what it takes to make it work. We need to use “specific” language to express our demands, and we have to narrow our fight. Start the fight for change first with the fight to define change. We need to know the definition, the meaning, and the real effects of “change”. Rhetoric and double-speak has become a norm in the political system, and in the occupy movement. Today we need clarity, and direction. We need to demand it from both elected officials, and our own movement. Once we have a united and defined front, we can make a difference.

Rhetoric and double-speak is our culture. We are steeped in it. Think of all the advertising we consume.. I think this is why it is so hard to see it. But yes, I agree. How do you define "change"? What is the meaning of it and what are the real effects? These are very good places to start.

We are but cavemen. Your sophisticated, modern and common sense suggestions confuse and frighten us, therefore we shall shun them.
