Hi there, I am a writer based in Spain. I wonder how much inspiration OWS got from the Pl de Sol and Pl Catalunya protests held here in May 2011? I noted that on the website the Arab Spring as an inspiration is mentioned, but nothing on Spain, which was very similar to OWS camp movements all over the US, and worldwide. Thoughts? Thanks.

Hi, yes, perhaps it's just that there's a lack of media coverage on the Spanish movement. What I was looking for was some reporting onthe connection between the M15 movement and OWS. The similarities are impressive, in that OWS is doing the same thing, using the same tactic, that was used in Madrid and BCN back in May 2011. I find it interesting that the inspiration was linked to Arab Spring and not to Spain. Anyway, Spain was inspired by northern Africa so I guess it's all connected. If anyone has seen anything, video or print, on a connection between the M15 protests and OWS, I'd love to see them! Thanks.
I know we were just speaking on Spain in our Politics Course at Baruch College, as a part of the #Occupy, and specifically on the youth unemployment rate in Spain. I personally saw a clip about Spain off earlier postings on #Occupy Wall Street or the Global Revolution Site.
news about protests anywhere in the world, are mostly blocked, within the boarders of the usa, their media is fully controled , their people are conditioned and behave like robots , they can only see news , that the corrupt government allows them to see. almost no coverage of the world- if its covered, its edited.
the us people didn't win the cold war - its them that now live behind the " iron curtain".
anyone who follows the worldwide protests, against injustice, knows about the 15-M movement. Please notice that the ows protests, are very simular to the spanish ones. The Puerta del Sol square-- Zucati park -----------see the simularties here!

i guess it just was not reported on as well as the Arab Spring. kinda shows the bias of our media. Why would Spain be disgruntled? They are part of the Western World View. you see my point?
I don't think spain cares either way, I am just looking for the connection in print for something I am writing. I see the connection, it's just weird that there's not more awareness about it on the OWS site, that's all.
