this is a formal, online petition to pass a constitutional amendment to get money out of political campaigns, thereby ending the plutocracy. sign it and spread the word :)
Exactly. I started to sign, then I realized; no money? zero? politicians have to have some money to campaign -- the problem is the obscene amounts of money. Should be limited to $100 or $1000 or something like that. I couldn't sign it.
Kick the corporations to the curb, but I'm not sure that NO money from individuals is a good idea. Why not allow small contributions up to the maximum of an equivalent of $2,300 in 2012 dollars? I don't send much, but I'd like to be able to send a hundred bucks to someone that I support.
Why not include a prohibition on lobbying? It seems that as long as they don't take the money for campaigns they can still take money.
I love the idea. I just think it needs a bit of tweaking.
Won't this just make it so you have to be rich to be a president? It seems to me if you aren't allowed to take money from other people in order to campaign, it will leave only the people that already have lots of money to will all elections. Go after Goldman Sachs! Just my opinion on it.
