Forum Post: Laundry Brigade?

I wish this site had a menu for ongoing practical OWS issues, so people in NYC who have only finite resources could easily pick a task and accomplish it without spending quantities of time searching for how to be useful. Last night I succeeded in bearing off some laundry and would like to offer feedback about it to others (example: "make sure there are no cashmere sweaters hidden in among the polyester blankets") who might be able to do some too. Posting in an all-issues forum is not efficient at all; it'll just get lost.

Cheers.

More details about laundry: The Outreach table (not marked) is just in from the BASIC FIRST AID section. There are black garbage bags there marked "dirty laundry." Each weighs about 20-30 lbs. There are two there right now waiting to be done. I'm going to scout out a local laundromat and post it here.

The movement in NY should take some of the supposedly 500K donated and rent a few local apts. and use them so people can shower, have toilets and also do laundry. These places could also be used for a command center for communications and planning. Being barricaded in a park surrounded by police all winter makes NO sense. This isn't about putting people in harms way.
