Forum Post: Keep'n it real

I recently lost my mother to cancer. She worked two jobs most of her life and passed away a penniless renter. I refuse to just take it or sit back and accept that this is what awaits my kids. I would love if I had the means to tour the country for training courses or could join a group and feel I have done something, but I don't, I can't. I have made attempts to find serious minded people in this group but I don't feel I'm getting anywhere. Please jump here in if you feel there is something more we could be doing. I will be joining the solidarity protest on May1, hope other will too.

This is the post I just left on my local Occupy FB. To the trolls squashing this forum and slakdavist who use this forum to be spiteful at the cost of support for Occupy/99%, FUCK YOU! Too many people like me involved, to many of us have lived the lie, most of us are just too far fkd to turn back now. See you on the other side of the revolution :)

Chin up, Richard. May 1st will be here soon. And, I'm so very sorry about your Mom.

I offer consolation for for your loss. Your mom may have had little material wealth, but it sounds like she had loving child. That was probably worth a lot more to her.

My condolences. We should not strive to have the best of everything, rather, we should make the best of everything we have.

There can be no joy in living your life to have more, when everything you need is easily attainable.

I agree.... I'm all for protests but the main reason for protest is to be heard and most importantly get media coverage.... However last night and night before got ZERO coverage.

I SAY ENOUGH.... Time to get creative and get our coverage

IDK about that. This post is an expression of my motivation and staying power. I have a more realistic sense of a successful movement rather than just being a noise maker and paying fines or restitution.

That's awesome - being more than a noise maker, I mean! You are doing something to make a difference! I know you are.

I'm really sorry for your loss. Mom's are the best thing ever. I'm so sad for you. : (

What killed OWS is mainly the violence and most of the protesters when interviewed had NO clue at all why and what they were protesting for. Tea Party arrest to date = 0 while OWS arrest to date = 5400 plus.

I have a list of Occupy projects you may be interested in http://citicommons.com We wouldn't want you to go through your life feeling Occupy failed and let you down. Looks to me like Occupy is working the public awareness angle and the political involvement angle at the same time, far from being over, it's just getting started.
