Claims for U.S. jobless benefits jumped last week to the highest level in six months, providing the first statistical warning that the damage from the partial federal shutdown is starting to ripple through the economy.

While half the increase came from California as the state worked through a backlog following a switch in computer systems, another 15,000 reflected the furlough of non-federal workers from employers losing government business, a Labor Department spokesman said as the data was released to the press. Applications (INJCJC) for unemployment insurance benefits surged by 66,000 in the week ended Oct. 5 to 374,000, the most since late March, figures from the Labor Department showed today in Washington.

We should give Elf, Jeremy and Matt a round of applause. How cool are you guys?

Anyone who didn't get their bugout bag ready, go to the back of the line.

Those who did, see you down at the lake, the trout are biting.

He's bent all right.

Twist? Liars. Liars for hire.

I'm pretty sure that ZD is the only paid liar here. Think about it. How better to disrupt and discredit a movement than have a "crazy person" claim to be associated with it and constantly advocate violence? He's the only one here who's out there on the web. Maybe that persona is made up. If nothing else he disrupts and gets everyone wasting their time doing things like arguing and writing limericks instead of going out and doing. It's not an impossible scenario.

You mean that after witnessing professional disrupters throughout every city, they may actually have a few on the internet, the main source of organizing and information sharing?!!!!

Nah, they are nice and love us!!

You're a paid to post right wing teathuglican libertopian troll that pretends to have been involved in Occupy.

[-] 2 points by HCHC4 (-28) 11 years ago

Teathuglican... thats a great little name. You get a star.

Someday we should both write our positions down and let the community decide who is the real liberal and who is the neocon in sheeps clothing.

Of course, that would take you focusing for more than 30 seconds and behaving yourself.

[-] -1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

You are a two dollar whore. You take whatever position whomever is buying wants you in.

"Of course, that would take you focusing for more than 30 seconds and behaving yourself."

Exactly. What a waste. Goodnight whoever you are.

You know who I am, Jeremy. If good means not calling out a bunch of teathuglican trolls.................it won't happen. Dickhead.

LPR, in chart form that can be put all the way back to 1948.

Interesting in that the time that everyone says was better, the lpr was at all time lows.

Thats an intersting dynamic.

Im sure the pencil pushers will be "revising" their numbers next month, to suit whatever perception they want to push.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

Bravo. Did you miss the layoff part or are you conveniently ignoring it? Why do you lie?

[-] 0 points by HCHC4 (-28) 11 years ago

Name a month recently where they havent radically revised the numbers one way or another in a couple months afterwards, depending on what the markets are doing?

Think Bloomberg might have an angle? Maybe? No dount shutting the gov down is going to have a bad effect on the economy.

But their numbers are always shit, meant to sway opinion one way or another. The revision will come out in a month or two, we'll see what it is.

A numbers nut like you should know better :)

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

No dount shutting the gov down is going to have a bad effect on the economy.

Well, congrats on finally seeing the light.

You are conveniently ignoring what it states because you graduated from MSU? You'll wait to see those numbers because you are so far removed from society that you cannot see the impact? How convenient.

[-] 0 points by HCHC4 (-28) 11 years ago

What on earth are you rambling about now?

Obviously when the gov is OUTSOURCING 560 billion dollars a year in contracts, it is going to have an impact. Duh.

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

You are phenomenally stupid. Duh. Is it getting a little too hot for you?

800,000 furloughed federal employees and programs that stopped receiving cash. Duh.

[-] -1 points by HCHC4 (-28) 11 years ago

No kidding genius.

"another 15,000 reflected the furlough of non-federal workers from employers losing government business, a Labor Department spokesman said as the data was released to the press. Where did you get that this wasnt going to effect anyone? Is that like your nonchalant attitude about dropping bombs on villages?

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

No, you don't, el douche bag. You have no problem with this shit because you are in the shit business.

Your little mantra yesterday was to say, Yes and that is how bloated this system is. Nice try to flip though. I'll give you a C.

[-] 0 points by HCHC4 (-28) 11 years ago

It is bloated, its all encompassing. Thats why its having the effect. Are you really that dense? Or simply unwilling to deal with the fact that someone may be politically more intelligent than you?

Theres book smarts, then theres political smarts. You are kind of like Paul Ryan, lots of stats and charts, but really nothing more than that.

I'm more like....well, lets just say Im not Paul Ryan :)

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 11 years ago

You'll be politically more intelligent when you have the capacity to figure out what control the states have versus the federal government. You have repeatedly failed to address both the state rights and responsibilities. So, yeah.......................until then....................you is shit out of luck. It would require reading and it's so not your thing, by your own admission.

You would also need to demonstrate some level of intelligence on foreign policy. So, yeah..................until then.............you is shit out of luck.
