We need a Moderate political party to become a power broker to force cooperation and end the disfunction in congress.

One of the major parties can be swayed with just a few congress people. The whole budget battle over the debt limit last summer happened in part because of the reps elected by the tea party. I'm not saying their position was good or bad, just that 25 congressmen elected by a group made a major impact. OWS has like minded groups across the country, run your own candidates. Do it now while you have public sympathy and support.

Political parties are canker ridden pustule oozing social diseases on the body politic of democracy.

Here is some of what George Washington had to say about political parties in his retirement address as America's first president:

"They serve to Organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force--to put in the place of the delegated will of the Nation, the will of a party; often a small but artful and enterprizing minority of the Community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public Administration the Mirror of the ill concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the Organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common councils and modefied by mutual interests. However combinations or Associations of the above description may now & then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the Power of the People, & to usurp for themselves the reins of Government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.

I have already intimated to you the danger of Parties in the State, with particular reference to the founding of them on Geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, & warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the Spirit of Party, generally." http://home.ptd.net/~aahpat/aandc/gw.htm

The more things change the more they stay deranged. (I said that.)

There are actually about a dozen parties now. Most all a waste of time since the two dominance parties control the ballot access and apportionment in the states to keep them in control of our democracy.

The ONLY solution is no political parties. Register Independent it scares the hell out of the dominance party political hacks because they simply can't quantify and compartmentalize Independents.

If you feel as I do that the Democrats and Republicans have subverted our democracy for their single-minded Wall Street only interest then the Write-In option is the only way that we have left to directly impact the electoral process. To take back some say in our political system. Our vote is our one opportunity to express our political values. And to assert our political free speech.

Don't just mindlessly vote for the lesser evil between the Democrats and Republicans. Especially in the primaries. Use to Write-in option to express your social justice values. Pick a citizen who reflects and respects your values like Elizabeth Warren. Or Write-In a statement of your values. I often Write-In "end the drug war" in the congressional races.

Its your vote use it as you believe is most important to you.

For my whole life (born in the 60s) I've watched the republicans and democrats play "good cop bad cop" on the issues. They are one in the same... one party that wants to crowd out any other voices so they keep a grip on this country. The post should read it's time for a second party. I must agree with you... everyone register independent.

Wrong: Third parties have never been an effective agent of change since our current two-puppet system became entrenched. The correct statement would be:

IT'S TIME FOR NO POLITICAL PARTIES!

"two-puppet system"

Precious.

Thank you for the first belly laugh of the day.

In such a large society it would be ineffective and chaotic to have no subdivisional organization.

Sure. As long as you idiots have no say in it. That would be fine

www.LP.org At least take the "worlds smallest political quiz" on the site and see where you fit in.

The Republicans want to take away your right to marry who you want. They want to take away women's right to chose. They want to help the rich get richer at the expense of the middle class and poor. Democrats want to take everybody's money and redistribute it as they see fit. They want to take away your right to own a gun. Libertarians want a small government, low taxes and individuals to have maximum personal freedom.
