Forum Post: "It's the Economy, Stupid!" OWS needs to focus now.

The central message of OWS seems to be, "Wall Street screwed us."

I think this is a near universally accepted message in American and the world. I think that it's a message with resonance across party lines.

various causes may or may not be without their merit, but if OWS starts to be about things other than 'Wall Street screwed us,' it will fail, or even worse: become a left wing extremist ghetto because no one in the middle will agree with all those and will be turned off by some.

I've seen OWS people campaigning, over card check, global warming, healthcare, and other left-wing concerns. I'm not dismissing these concerns per se, but OWS needs to be about one thing if it's to succeed and that's the message that the widest range of Americans will get behind:

"Wall Street screwed us."

If you're campaigning about anything else, you're hurting the movement now and in it's hope for expansion into a cross-cultural force.

Remember: Wall Street Screwed Us!

His point is there's an underlying issue that has plagued the monetary system beyond just the USA and Wall Street shenanigans... It stretches back to the goldsmiths of england and the Franco/England... Check out the lengthy documentary here:

IF you control the money supply you control those who make the laws. That quote came from over 200 years ago. That's how long the People have been up against the same problem. That problem being private control over the power to create money. I am so sorry I had to spell it out for you, so sorry for America as a whole. Hope it was simple enough for you to either comprehend OR fact check.

Remember, the government let them. Wall Street bought and paid for this government. Wall Street paid off the government to get their precious deregulation.
1% buys their representation, 99% are left with the scraps.

I'm all for punishing Wall Street for their crimes. And STRICT financial regulation to top it off with.

However, even with that, the underlying root cause is that government let them do it. 1% has unfair influence in government and money is their tool. Money speaks too loudly and is drowning the voices of the 99%.
We need to fix the root cause of the problem. Money in the political process. We need to get the money out and establish publicly funded elections.
