Forum Post: Is this forum's participants so diverse a group, with (i) different language and (ii) different foundations of experience and education, and (iii) different rules of conduct, that it often results in an unsuccessful forum experience?

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Is this forum filled with excessive frustration, name calling and improper behavior, and lack of accomplishment while disregarding the quest for new truth?

Being reactionary was the goal of this persona. Inspire, educate, rile, tease, poke, stir, and think OUT OF THE BOX was the goal of this persona, in an effort to exchange ideas. If you hated the persona, or were inspired or educated by new ideas, then the goal of being reactionary has been reached. Having a mixed forum with do many diverse backgrounds and different levels of education and knowledge is a very inefficient process.

With the mixed forum the more educated people must spend their time educating the lesser educated. Hence before worthwhile discussion takes place, the class needs a similar foundation. Imagine we all spoke different languages, we would not be able to communicate. And yes, that is EXACTLY where this forum is at, people have different knowledge of different words, words are not even defined the same for all the participants. "Fair" has many meanings in a socio-economic context. Thus, as a forum group, we are ACTUALLY speaking using a different language set, and a different foundation. So instead of participating in the exchange of ideas, most of the time is spent teaching foundation and language to each other. And it seems the same 15 people participate. This doesn't feel like some world wide forum. Seems like a bunch of idiots with nothing better to do. And I am DEFINITELY one of those idiots. Yes, everyone can act like an idiot once in a while.

Teaching forum members how to separate ideas from people was a major goal, in an effort to stop name calling. Yet, when some of the less mature forum participants don't like an idea, they resort to name calling, in the context of, "If you like that idea than you must be a jerk" kind of reasoning, instead of "I think your idea is incorrect, and "I hate the idea", but it doesn't mean I hate you.

Joe100 says good bye to all - to those that hate and despise Joe100 because they don't like Joe's ideas or because the truth is too disturbing to accept, and to those that like Joe, or liked some of the ideas, and attempts to further the OWS movement, Joe100 says good bye.

It was fun, but I am not sure how successful it was, though it seems a few foundation changes may result from the forum experience, but unfortunately this forum experience results in ambivalence for most.

Ciao! Joe100

I hate the idea of you resigning?

I've come close to bailing out twice but the stakes are too high to abandon the effort. I've put important things on hold and at some point I'll have to get back to working on them... but not now. If all the people here that have a genuine contribution to make quit in disgust and frustration, then when a new person wanders in and finds nothing but drivel, the demise of potentially the most important movement in history will be furthered along.

You've tackled some heavy duty shit piles here, and probably had a lot slung at you. I want you to stay for a little while longer even if taking the role of silent observer.

Farewell : )

Yes, there are many here; not even of age, with very limited life experiences, poorly educated by a federally controlled "dumbing down" system, religious zealots, and with no learning in history or our nation's Constitutional documents.

There are actually lunatics wanting direct democracy excluding nary a single person from the process, including even children!

Yes, yes, and the Consensus people don't realize Consensus IS AWESOME for SOME of the time, like the big goals, but that Consensus is NOT AWESOME all the time. Often, in the middle of the details and hard work, after Consensus has set goals, Consensus hinders progress.

It is 'Are these' forums participants... & yes, we are 'pissy' individuals whose diversity makes for interesting debate, discussion, even rhetoric, & diverges with great frequency to degenerative libel & cat-calling... then we move on to another thread & start again until we come full circle, & start bitching to the person we were last bitching at how terrible so-so is. If it weren't for these sites, I would have to go out & sully my neighborhood & get locked up as a radical... This site is probably keeping many of us out of jail...It's a process of repeating the same mistake until we wake up, understand who we are, & then leave. Isn't that why you are going? Then it has served your purpose, & 1 by 1, it will serve ours.. We are like children who need to learn co-operation & respect for each others thoughts & idea's because govt created divide in society, & this site is a tactic for undoing that....When we can get along, then we can step out into the world & teach others, because we are adults, & as long as we behave like children, we need governance. If we still need it after what they have done to us, then we deserve to have them keep doing it. The fact that you are leaving says the tide is turning, & people are possibly learning how to govern themselves.. Could be wishful thinking, but it would be nice... Best Of Luck Joe..

Yes joe I too have almost had enough of this forum. The ones that don't support the OWS never will. Even when you try to educate these people they don't listen. This forum feels like an excercise in futility. We can't even get it together on here. The MSM has brainwashed the public for so long that its hard to get anyone to listen to any idea that isn't conventional. I thought humans were smarter than this. I know OWS has a lot of potential. People are just too entertained with reality tv and video games to step outside and see there is a whole beautiful world going on out there. We are being entertained right out of reality. My optimism for the human spirit wont waver though. I believe we can overcome our own ignorance.

I certainly hope so. The people need this movement. Its the only positive thing happening right now. Especially after passing that s1867 ammendment turning us into a police state and trying to censor the internet. What fun times we live in.
