Does the protesters who are wearing know that? He was a catholic rebellion. He wanted to establish catholic theocracy. I see lot of OWS Protester wearing this symbolic mask.
It was used in V for Vendetta to symbolize revolt against a corrupt government.
Used appropriately in that context.
V can symbolize article 5 in the constitution which allows for amendments
Except the only reason people buy the masks is because of the movie reference.

at the end of the movie, everyone takes off the mask, revealing who they are, as a group and also individually.
the true masks are worn by those in power. they will never reveal themselves.
