Figuratively, that is. I mean, this movement has the potential to address all of the problems professed by christianity (small "c").
I am not a Christian, or a christian. Just making connections...

Is the OWS a "second coming of Christ?" Long and short answer. No. Not even figuratively.
Reasoning: this is a purely human movement, and like anything human it has one major weakness. the human element. We are selfish, pride-filled, sinful creatures who's main mantra is "me first." Jesus never showed or even espoused this philosophy, instead he showed a servants attitude and humility. Even going so far as to wash his own disciples feet after a long day.
It is Interesting how many of the greatest kings in Christendom portrayed this fact as well, those kings who served the people enjoyed great success and were very popular. Those who served themselves soon saw civil war and troubles in their reigns. This I think is something that the politicians would do well to understand.
maybe you missed my connection... I'm not talking about Jesus as a person, I'm talking about the idea of christ and everything that JC was proposing. So the connection is: OWS as a whole movement = the second coming of the true ideals of christ.
I understood where you were coming from, and I know what you meant as well. I probably was not as clear as i could have been.
This OWS movement is a wonderful means for the people (the 99%) to let the government know about their grievances against the system. There is however a small problem, and that problem has already started to manifest it's self.
this movement has the opportunity to create real change, however because of the selfishness of man kind, it is already being corrupted by those who seek to serve themselves by using others and their passions/idea's and twisting them. I see this happening with politicians jumping on board (as some have already done so), with the unions joining in (they are a right wing movement who seek to end wall st for their own ends) and others who are attempting to hijack this groundswell for purposes beyond our control.
The point I am making is that man will always corrupt anything he creates. And though this movement has the potential to realize what you are suggesting, the nature of man will in the end turn it from a populist movement looking for long lasting change and turn it into a movement to gain power and prestige (probably still not articulating my self as well as I could, but it is midnight here and I am tired).
Ah, ok. Well, it's sad that you have such little faith in mankind. I can't allow myself to maintain this lack of faith, because we do not have the luxury to be defeatist. This is about life or death for all of life on the planet, as we know it.
Also, I see your issue, but I would like to think that due to the desired design of the movement (democratic, popular, amorphous, no leaders), the issues you are talking about will be unable to manifest.
I admit I do not have faith very much faith in mankind at this present time. I see too much, read too much and hear too much to believe that we have moved beyond our own noses at this point. But I will admit there is hope, this movement does prove that, as does human history.
