on Southern secession. How does OWS feel about the south being its own country? I am not for or against it. I am just curious to what OWSers think.

Missishitty? Alabuma? Texass? Looseiana? BYE-BYE

check out this movie
The Confederate States of America
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0389828/

Now let's be fair, since the civil war, the south has reprehensively devolved
into evangelical lynching homophobic racist trash
BUT
Those of us civilized Americans let it happen.
At this point, steering the lemmings back to sanity may be impossible.

I would prefer seceding from Washington DC. let the 1% keep it and all the bribed representatives there - the 99% will take the rest of the country, our forefathers fought and died for- and its our inheritance. And the declaration of Independence is also ours .

Where should the new capital be?

[-] 1 points by economicallydiscardedcitizen (761) 12 years ago

Watch the following because the founding fathers ensured that church remain separate from state with things like slavery eventually being abolished such that we as a nation were formed and designed to continue with the goals of freedom and equality.

Since your 'Southreners' as they are titled in your second video wish to be a nation apart with atavistic leanings, would you really want to support the state of those states as a nation functioning as they did prior to the Civil War complete with slavery and all the ugly racist elements that encompasses?

Call me a Carpetbagger if you like but on the above points I'm no Copperhead! For definitions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpetbagger

There's also alot of misunderstanding 'out there' with respect to meaning/definitions. Many do not know the difference between forms of government nor do many Americans know what the true design of US Government is but once they have even a basic understanding they clearly recognize the corruption that has taken up residence in US Government, Wall Street and, through the fractional reserve banking system-The World. Here, for all to get the basics is a very nice outline of what America was founded to be. If we would only study the Constitution, The Bill of Rights and The Federalist Papers to solidify the foundation, the numbers of OWS participants by acting in the interest of the original ethical ideals would make major headway! Also, if more American businesses and individuals would VOLUNTARILY create their own social programs on a greater scale to the point of eclipsing the crappy government ones we wouldn't need those programs at the expense to taxpayers! http://www.occupywallst.org/forum/americadefinitions-of-principles-helpful-in-exposi/ Forum Post: America:Definitions of Principles helpful in exposing the corruption of US govt. and Wall Street Thanks to YouTube there is a synopsis of what America as a nation is supposed to be as setup by the founders along with the true definition of capitalism when practiced without the corruption (obscene concentration of wealth and economic manipulation of US government and the world through the fractional reserve banking system)we are seeing now and rightfully railing against. The great thing about this series is it allows a quick educational overview of the principles and form of government America was founded on and through clear definitions allows the viewer to see the pros and cons of each type of government in comparison. PS:And when you have time you can read the US Constitution, Bill of Rights and Federalist Papers. John Birch Society - Overview of America - Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsoIR2BlCH8&feature=youtube_gdata_player

John Birch Society - Overview of America - Part 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szbLKeQIZCk&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I know, really an odd source that YouTube came up with while I was poking around for this type of clear information that even a teenager could understand (an outline of American foundations/clear definition of what ideals we were founded on.) The John Birch Society still exists even though Welch died. I think the founding fathers came up with the most sanely workable governmental foundation, the problem is there are always 'stupid humans' who with their greed and lust for power then as now who would tear it all apart.

You lost that one awhile back, suck it up and get used to it.

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

What are you talking about? The Civil War?

[-] 1 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

Please let Texas go.

Wait, I need to go down to Texas and grab the good people and get them out.

Then pull military out of there and watch 1/3 of the economy collapse.

It is big enough to fail.

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

let's think realistically.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

Wha-a-at? That's realistic. I think that it is high time that we-the-people told Texas to leave the union. if all they can do is give us Perry, RP, house the Bush Dynasty and then screw around with textbooks.............they must leave the Union.

Then remove all aspects of the Union, including the military.........and watch 1/3 of their economy plummet.

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

None of those are reasons to tell Texas to do anything. You could say that about northern states -or any state. Nevada gave us Harry Reid. California gave us Nancy Pelosi. Is that a reason to ask them to leave the union?

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

I have never heard a huge cry coming out of California for secession. That is a state that is probably been living in fear of the big one for so long that using even intangible threads are holding it on to the rest of the states.

Not a huge cry coming out of Nevada.

But, dear Lawd, Texas is filled with it.

Perry is on it http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/gov-perry-talks-succession-texas-tea-pa

http://texasnationalist.com/

http://www.texassecede.com/

I agree with them. Please let Texas leave.

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

Texas could not survive by itself. That is part of that Texas arrogance that only Okies know how to deal with. Let's focus not just on Texas, but the entire region.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

Arrogance is found in the entire secession movement.

You may not have Florida.

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

I think the south lost south Florida long ago. North and west Florida is another story.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

Hands off Florida, but you may have Rubio.

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

Cuban immigrants and natives in south Florida tend to be conservative.

[-] 0 points by GirlFriday (17435) 12 years ago

The Cubans have been losing their grip on power, for the over a decade now, due to other groups having moved in.

Take Janet Reno, you can have her. Mat Staver, you can have him. Jennifer Carroll, you can have her. John Stemberger and Pam Olsen, oh what the hell, take the entire Florida Family Policy Council. I have some others that you can take.

What if those in the military like Texas and don't want to leave?

[Removed]

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

I think there would be obvious downfalls to secession.

[-] 1 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

I say we split then invade texas for its oil reserves

[-] 0 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

Texans would defeat any invasion attempted. That is not an option. Texas would obviously be a part of the package. Lets focus on the southern region as a whole.

[-] 1 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

Are you kidding - our military could bomb them back to the stone age.

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

first off, I don't think our military would do that. Two, the military is basically in the south. Three, I don't think the Chinese military could ultimately defeat Texas. There would be a barrel behind every blade of grass. It would be almost like the British military trying to defeat the Revolutionaries. Numbers would not matter.

[-] 1 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

Please, in the age of tactical nukes and predator drones. Texas has no military. We could easily invade, occupy and install a puppet government. Sure, there would be a few million dead but that beside the point.

[-] 0 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

The south has more military bases and soldiers than any part of the country. The Texans would eat anyone's lunch trying to invade or occupy that state. They would also be backed by every other southern state. Guerrilla fighters would pour in from Louisiana, Oklahoma Arkansas within a matter of hours. They would not be able to take Texas.

Suggesting that we use a nuke on Texas is ludicrous at best. We wouldn't use a nuke on our own homeland regardless of the reason.

[-] 2 points by Anachronism (225) 12 years ago

No, texans are pretty weak psychologically. They would cry like little girls. It would be a lot easier than Afghanistan. I'm just saying, they can succeed from the union but they don't get the oil.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Spent a lot of time in TX, you speak the truth. They will kill their neighbors, suffocate in their bunkers before they threw off an invasion.

[-] 1 points by Brandon37 (372) 12 years ago

Again we are talking about the entire south. Not just Texas. Texas is not the only state in the South with oil and resources.

Your comment about psychology is irrelevant and doesn't make any sense. It's not just Texas an invading force would be dealing with.

They lost the war, but they don't give up.

I just love how OWS discredits itself with these forum posts. LOL

What did you think of the videos? I am not promoting or taking a stand against them.
