New York Times: "After Tahrir Square in Egypt and Zuccotti Park in New York, Taksim is the latest reminder of the power of public space. The square has become an arena for clashing worldviews: an unyielding leader’s top-down, neo-Ottoman, conservative vision of the nation versus a bottom-up, pluralist, primarily young, less Islamist vision of the country as a modern democracy" Full article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/08/world/europe/in-istanbuls-taksim-square-an-achilles-heel.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Beautiful sight, isn't it?

I can think of no country better situated to bringing true peace and freedom to that entire region.

Peace and safety to all Turkish Occupiers!

I cannot either!

The Turkish people are the linchpin over there, in many different senses: geographically, strategically, religiously, culturally, etc. It would be a real shame if resorting to violence tears up the fabric of Turkey and ruins its cross-road character.

Power to the 'capulcu' and may peace and safety stay with the Turkish people!
