MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Shelley Brannon, 62, can sum up the Obama presidency with three words. Well, three words and an exclamation.

“He screwed us,” said Brannon, a coal miner from Wise County, Va., as he sat outside a rally for the United Mine Workers of America. “Man, he screwed us.”

He shook his head under a camouflage hat that matched his camouflage UMWA T-shirt, and he described his fantasy of dumping nuclear waste in the yards of environmentalists, “if they think coal’s so bad.” He mulled over the mistake UMWA had made in 2008, when it endorsed Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton. Then he explained why he would probably be voting for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the next Democratic primary.

“For one thing, he knows what union is, and he respects it,” said Brannon. “That’s all we need is respect. He’s just a likeable fella, trustworthy. I don’t think she has the same respect for the union, and she really shot herself in the foot over, you know, all that secretive stuff.”

Write in NO WAR on your ballot

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

Are you still trying to bring Tinkerbell back? Do you still think we should all shout "WE BELIEVE" to do that? You are a huge hypocrite Matt you attack Bernie Sanders supporters for being dreamers then promote writing bullshit like "NO WAR" on a ballot, the ballot matters more than your ego Matt your problem is you have never figured that out.

the irony was furious

Every now and then great opportunities come along like 2000 when we had a chance to elect Al Gore President, now we have a chance to nominate Bernie Sanders a Democratic Socialist to a major party ticket, everybody who gives a damn about the 99% will be working for Bernie, of course the ego whores who only love themselves will find fault and a reason to opt out.

[-] 2 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

a true socialist cares about all people

both major parties support foreign war

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

just as the Senate allows war you would allow the GOP to rule rather than to soil your hands

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

where is your duty to the nation to witness its military ?

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

I take my duty seriously and vote to avoid war not to let others decide, especially others that almost always choose war. There would have been no Iraq War if Nader had supported Gore, what we do matters it has affects if you actually gave a damn you would take voting seriously too.

“That’s all we need is respect." Someone remind this dude that respect is earned, not granted.

Of course, when you are fighting a beast like the Feds, its pretty difficult no matter how aggressive you want to be.

Decentralize everything.

Are you going to hunt Shelley Brannon down and tell her? (I think Shelley is a chick not a dude, dude)

you should listen to your own advice.....

Deadline for Registering to Vote in the Primary in NY is today, 10/9/15!

If New or Non Voters don't Register to Vote by their state's DEADLINE they can't Vote for Bernie Sanders.

With no Bernie Sanders win in the Primary Election, we'll be stuck with Hillary.

Get REGISTERED to Vote in the Primary Election!

Hillary, Bernie, and the Banks

Bernie Sanders says break them up and resurrect the Glass-Steagall Act that once separated investment from commercial banking.

Hillary Clinton says charge them a bit more and oversee them more carefully.

Most Republicans say don’t worry.

Clearly, there’s reason to worry. Back in 2000, before they almost ruined the economy and had to be bailed out, the five biggest banks on Wall Street held 25 percent of the nation’s banking assets. Now they hold more than 45 percent.

Their huge size fuels further growth because they’ll be bailed out if they get into trouble again.

This hidden federal guarantee against failure is estimated be worth over $80 billion a year to the big banks. In effect, it’s a subsidy from the rest of us to the bankers.

"This hidden federal guarantee against failure is estimated be worth over $80 billion"

Try 80 billion a month for 6 years straight while the two losers you mentioned along with other 535 of them in that shithole remain completely silent and complicit.

I know you hate it when the government takes your money and uses it for anything, you are just worried about keeping your beans and F' everybody else.

[-] 0 points by turbocharger (1756) 8 years ago

Your Dodd Frank idiocy only further strengthened them. Dodd and Frank should be the last two people being relied on to real in those monsters.

Why is it so many post facts and all you have is assumptions on personality in return? Has your mind become corrupted by the political system under which we dwell?

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

you don't like Frank Dodd because you want the rich to be richer and money to have more power, this is why you support the GOP

"Frank Dodd" is a fraction of what must be done, but to do any good at all we must defeat the GOP you don't understand the simplest of concepts

[-] 2 points by turbocharger (1756) 8 years ago

I dont like Dodd FRank because it was crafted by the sociopaths that helped craft this mess, and as the results show, community banks are worse off and the big ones have even more of the market share.

If you dont understand this stuff, please stop voting. You are only sabotaging the efforts of the people who do.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

everyone on the site knows you only support gutting the government and giving all power to the 1%, you only care about your damn taxes and everything you post is about cutting government which is the people's only balance against the 1% you just care about your money and your taxes you don't give a damn about climate change of health care or education or anything but your money

[-] 2 points by turbocharger (1756) 8 years ago

For someone who cries about not having enough money all the time you sure do throw a fit when someone else does lol.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

you'd have to link to those comments, you might be confusing me with Matt, however you are known for your greed and your only interest is keeping the government from taking your money you don't give a damn about wealth inequality or the 99% people reading your shit should know that starting out.

Reinstating Glass/Steagall would be the best move - and then - maybe - to see if it could be improved upon - maybe with some of the items from Dodd–Frank.

[-] 4 points by turbocharger (1756) 8 years ago

I agree on Glass Steagall, separating the two would be a good move. But as far as that fascist piece of nonsense Dodd/Frank, there is nothing worth keeping in there. The entire thing is overwritten, overcomplicated garbage written by lunatics.

[-] 3 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

when Octavious took over the roman senate; he rewrote the rules so he would keep most of the power

these rules on money exchange are nothing more than that

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

Bernie supports bringing back Glass Steagall but you don't care about that do you?

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

I would seek to reign in the entire financial cloud

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 8 years ago

What? I suppose by writing in "no more usury" on a ballot?

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

Oppression is not possible sans violence

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

I see turbo supports your position, that alone should give you reason to rethink your position....

[-] 1 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

citizen's responsible for military actions

[-] -1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

You yield power to the 1% then they fund war to secure the power you give them with your bullshit "NO WAR" on your ballot.

In other words you are the f'ing problem Matt.

[-] 2 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

the 1% have all the cash

If we respect that cash| we yield to money's power

[-] 1 points by turbocharger (1756) 8 years ago

Thats funny. You endorse the worst that society has to offer, and Matt chooses not to.

And Matt is the problem.

On what planet does this make sense?

What would happen if NO ONE voted? Would the system crumble? Is there a reason they push voting on us so hard? Spend so much money on it, cover it so much, etc?

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

You get to vote, the vote is real power, not absolute power as you require before you will participate but still real power and when used wisely it can change things, but many people are like yourself, are dumb as dirt.

Remember we have the system we because people allow it.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

you support electing the GOP, how can you defend that?

[-] 1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 8 years ago

Big Money is one of many problems that needs addressing, but as it is now they pretty much control things.

Which is why we need a Bernie Sanders Revolution, which requires new and non Voters to Register for the Primary and VOTE!

[-] 3 points by MattHolck0 (3867) 8 years ago

Inequality cannot be enforced without violence

stop the violent war culture

Write in NO WAR on your ballot

[-] 1 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

We need to make every canidate to sign a pledge to cut NO taxes while there is still debt.

[-] 0 points by turbocharger (1756) 8 years ago

They sign your pledge with one hand and take the donations from wall st with the other.

After the election is over the idiot masses go back to work, who do you think still keeps the pressure on?

Get a clue bro. If you want change why are you still rolling with the same two companies doing the same things for the same people, just like they have always done.

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 8 years ago

Why are you still electing the GOP?
