An important message from former Canadian Defense Minister Paul Hellyer

Paul Hellyer, former Minister of Defense for Canada 1963 to 1967; the man who merged all our armed forces under one umbrella, explains the dire circumstances the people of Canada find themselves in at the moment and why ACTION IS REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY:

''Congress all bribed, has zero confidence in eyes of American people - (says) World Bank whistleblower'' - Karen Hudes :

Thanx for your important and very interesting forum-post. Solidarity.

Thanks for those links, but I could not pull up the second one as it said, "not available in this country."

Alexis Goldstein's name came up in one of our Alt Bank meetings. She is another young woman who made the marvelous transition from being a Wall St insider to being an Occupier. Her account of what life was like on Wall St. was riveting to me. And her appeal for her former colleagues to join her in Occupy is very touching..

"And so I say to my friends who are still behind the Wall. The spoils of money can never match the joys of community. When you're ready we'll be here."

I sent Ms O'Neil an email with a link to my comment (above) on the Forum, which she thanked me for saying I was "sweet." Me?!

For anyone to doubt that there are not bright young people working hard in our struggle... who refuse to accept the World as it is, they would be grossly mistaken.

Edit: And Solidarity to you too! You are an invaluable contributor to this forum.

http://www.occupythesec.org/ is a major offshoot of OWS & Alexis Goldstein is one of the leading lights behind that. Thanx for your great link and I was intrigued to hear that the embedded video in my second link above didn't open. Here's my attempt to replace it :

Solidarity to you and yours and thanx for your grace and encouragement.

Thank You for that wonderful post especially that Victory For The World link, as it shows that yet more and more people and groups are getting involved at the grassroots level proving that resistance is building. The really super thing is that these groups are networking with each other as you will see again here.

I have been a part of Occupy's Alternative Banking group for some time now. We meet every Sunday in the International Affairs building at Columbia University in New York. The participants in this group are from all walks of life.... Occupy street activists to people that have long histories in finance/economics. They have put out a great concise little book called Occupy Finance which is available on line (below link) too.

The delightful young mother of three who presides over our meetings is a very intelligent, plain-spoken woman named Cathy O'Neil. She has attended UC at Berkeley, Harvard, and MIT where she did her post-doc work , and was a professor at Barnard College. She has also worked with Larry Summers as a 'quant' at the hedge fund D E Shaw before joining Occupy in October of 2011, and has a blog called mathbabe..

Listen to her interview on Frontline where she tells of her metamorphosis from being a Wall St insider to being an Occupier.

At last week's meeting a man named Marcus Stanley who is the Policy Director of Americans For Financial Reform gave a presentation to our group. And Cathy will be giving a presentation at a meeting in Washington this week that is being sponsored by AFFR. Please take note of the panelists that will be at that meeting (in her blog).

And we heard at yesterday's meeting that the indomitable Richard Wolf has also accepted an invitation to speak to our group which we are elated about.

Next week though, we are going to take a break at some point and celebrate Ms O'Neils 2nd anniversary with Occupy with home-made cookies that her and her kids are going to make. I can't wait.
