Where? Point to some post that supports Obama or just stop trolling.

I agree that Obama is no OWS supporter he is a pro-military-police-state corporatist.

[-] 2 points by Faithntruth (997) 12 years ago

There are pro obama people here and there are pro obama posts, but the thread author makes a ridiculous generalization. Ows does not dictate political affiliation. I like that.

Obama and his mama drink piss for breakfast and burp like a frog. What a couple of butt sucking homosexual ass licking fags for the white house.

[-] 2 points by brightonsage (4494) 12 years ago

When your house is on fire, you would like to vote for a fire truck, but until one arrives, you will happily vote for a garden hose.

[-] 2 points by debndan (1145) 12 years ago

Nope, not an Obama supporter here, unless of course Romney is nominated by GOP, then I'll even put a sign in the front lawn for Obama, may even go door to door for him.

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

so you would vote for Newton or Rick over Obama?
What specifically would they do that you would vote for them - SPECIFICALLY

[-] 0 points by debndan (1145) 12 years ago

their willingness to prosecute the banksters that perpetrated the greatest heist in history, and their willingness to limit or break off trade with china.

Also, it'd be nice to see a cabinet and treasury that didn't look like a golden shacks reunion

[-] 3 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

Gingrich & Santorm want to prosecute the banksters?
Didn't Obama just set up an investigation to do this a few days ago ?
Yes - it should have been three years ago.

Here is my Obama guess - just IMHO
Obama is very very smart
He politically "grew up" during the period of gross divisiveness in America ,
and just like the child who's parent is over-controlling grows up to be an overly permissive parent - Obama did everything he could to mend things with the Rs with compromises. ------- just IMHO
Sadly it took him three years to see that you can'r negotiate with rabid dogs.
Just consider this as possible.

[-] 2 points by debndan (1145) 12 years ago

Well, actually Obama sold out a couple days ago with a 26 billion settlement on a case of multi-trillion fraud.

It's odd that the investigation only begins now when the election cycle begins, and I doubt that he will jail his biggest donors, I'm cynical like that. And the same hold true for Romney.

But, yes, both Newt and Rick are on record as saying they want to jail the fraudsters, and I believe them, and so do the fraudsters, as it's katie-bar-the-door in the GOP primaries when both are said to be anti-capitalist progressives etc. and with a straight face to boot.

I have no doubt Obama is smart, smart enough to not bit the hand that feeds him that is.

Don't get me wrong, the GOP needs to be tossed from congress, especially the slime that have used their positions to enrich themselves and their friends.---- I want all the incumbents out--- but that's me

[-] 0 points by factsrfun (8310) from Phoenix, AZ 12 years ago

That's some pretty good thinking your doing there BensDad, IMHO.

[-] 2 points by randart (498) 12 years ago

Take a look at the choices. I have been watching the parade of candidates from the conservatives and it seems like Obama is the lesser of evils.

The problem we have here is the two term presidency system. I think we should have a move to make it one, six year, term. Once we have chosen then we are all stuck with that choice for the full six years and then we would have to vote for a wider range of candidates.

In the end I will support Obama because he is less an embarrassment to our country than the other options. He seems to be intelligent, fair, and serious at the right times, all while still being personable. I know you are on a phishing trip here to try and start something but for me that is what it comes down to.

Romney = robotic and detached Gingrich = feels a bit bitter and sort of out in right field. Santorum = possible christian taliban kind of personality, not good. Paul = never going to happen so why bother.

The agenda of the 99%, to me, is an issue of right and wrong. It is about fairness and expecting the whole of our society to make this country work, both rich and poor. In the last few decades the wealthy have managed to situate themselves so they have access to much more than poorer people and this needs to be corrected. Nature will always find a balance and the OWS "movement" is the change of momentum to the lopsided and out of balance system we have now. Adam Smith had the invisible hand theory that supposedly directed a free market but he left out the invisible hand of social needs.

So, the options are few for most of the people in this country. At some point we have to make a stand and try to bring the balance back. As for Obama, well, there really is no other option.

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

I agree - and althogh I would have l iked him to do SO MUCH MORE
remember he does not have dictatorial powers
and as long as the Rs control the house or senate, his powers are not what they need to be It may be too little too late, but he has finally woken up to the monolithic koch/alec/murdoch wall in front of all progress.

[-] 0 points by XenuLives (1645) from Charlotte, NC 12 years ago

Frankly, we didn't have enough time to really organize a third party presidential race for this election. If things keep going the way that they have been, however, expect more people turning to Americans Elect and third party candidates in 2014 & 2016.

Too many of our current Congressmen are virtually uncontested for election after election. We need some fresh faces in the House and Senate, not career politicians...

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

We need politicians who are not bought by the corporations.
How do we do that?

[-] 2 points by debndan (1145) 12 years ago

Unfortunately, to be rid of the buy-outs we need to be rid of the buyers.

The way this is done is to stop commerce with tyrannical dictatorships that is the major form of doing business.

cooperative business models are more democratic, stable, and more in line with our values

It's time to starve the beast by with holding dollars and labor from the corporate masters

This can be done in several areas:

1.when you do banking, join a credit union

2.when you go out to eat, patron ONLY owner/proprietor restaurants or better yet, join a collective like the eagles, and you and the other patrons ARE the owners

3.when you buy insurance(life/health/auto) make sure that it is a participant insurance, where the policy holders and agents ARE the owners

4.Join a church where the worshippers ARE the owners (mega churches need not apply)

5.Shop the local farmer co-ops

6.when you move, only move to areas that have power and water co-ops

7.Work ONLY for a co-op style business, or form a union where your at

8.Be a member of building co-ops like habitat for humanity, and buy new homes from only a builders co-op

9.Purchase furniture only from co-ops, like amish builders( the amish are the ultimate in anarchism)

Folks it's time to patron the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker and starve out the corporate parasites that siphon value away from the stakeholders (workers/members/customers)

And if you are unemployed, or under employed, start by trying to be the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker.

Corporatism doesn't work, and our economy is collapsing because of this, we do have the power to change this

It's time for democracy in all things at all times

[-] 2 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

All great ideas - but I have one that will facilitate ALL of them by directly
cutting off the head of the beast

83% of Americans already agree on it

In the the PFAW Poll -

85% of voters say that corporations have too much influence over the political system today.
77% think Congress should support an amendment to limit the amount corporations can spend on elections.
74% say that they would be more likely to vote for a candidate for Congress who pledged to support a Constitutional Amendment limiting corporate spending in elections.

PLEASE COMMENT ON: MY "IDEAL - COMPREHENSIVE" AMENDMENT

Section 1 {A corporation is not a person and can be regulated}
The rights protected by the Constitution of the United States are the rights of natural persons { human beings } only. Artificial entities, such as corporations, limited liability companies, and other entities, established by the laws of any State, the United States, or any foreign state shall have no rights under this Constitution and are subject to regulation by the People, through Federal, State, or local law. The privileges of artificial entities shall be determined by the People, through Federal, State, or local law, and shall not be construed to be inherent or inalienable.

Section 2 { Money is not speech }
Federal, State and local government shall regulate, limit, or prohibit contributions and expenditures, including a candidate’s own contributions and expenditures, and may restrict all financing to “public financing” for the purpose of influencing in any way the election of any candidate for public office or any ballot measure. As above, all foreign contributions are forbidden.

Section 3 { Transparency & Disclosure }
Federal, State and local government shall require that any permissible contributions and expenditures be publicly disclosed less than 60 days after the transaction and before the election.

Section 4 { Voter Suppression }
Federal, State and local government shall not require any new forms of id for voting, beyond what was needed to register for previously registered voters. College photo-id ( including for out-of-state students ) must be acceptable. Federal, State and local government shall permit early voting for at least the 6 days before the election day.

Section 5 { Election Day & Registration }
Federal, State and local government may make election day a holiday. Federal, State and local government must allow simultaneous registration and voting on election day.

Section 6 { Eliminate the Electoral College – one man one vote } The electoral college is abolished and the President and Vice-President will be elected by popular vote. .

Section 7 { Eliminate the Filibuster } Unless specified in the Constitution , all voting in the House and Senate shall be based on a simple majority.

Section 8 Nothing contained in this amendment shall be construed to abridge the freedom of the press .

{NOTE: sections 4, 5, 6, 7 are not required to overturn CU – just my wish list }
COMMENTS ON THE ABOVE ARE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO ACT ----> JOIN US TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Our primary goal should be to pass a constitutional amendment to counter Supreme Court decision Citizens United (2010) , that enables unlimited amounts of anonymous money to flood into our political system.
We don’t have to explain or persuade people to accept our position – we only have to persuade them to ACT based on their own position. Pursuing this goal will prove to the world that we, at OWS, are a serious realistic Movement, with serious realistic goals. Achieving this goal will make virtually every other goal – jobs, taxes, infrastructure, Medicare – much easier to achieve –
by disarming our greatest enemy – GREED.

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO ACT ----> JOIN US TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

THE SUCCESS STORY OF THE AMENDING PROCESS The Prohibition movement started as a disjointed effort by conservative teetotalers who thought the consumption of alcohol was immoral. They ransacked saloons and garnered press coverage here and there for a few years. Then they began to gain support from the liberals because many considered alcohol partially responsible for spousal and child abuse, among other social ills. This odd alliance, after many years of failing to influence change consistently across jurisdictions, decided to concentrate on one issue nationally—a constitutional amendment. They pressured all politicians on every level to sign a pledge to support the amendment. Any who did not, they defeated easily at the ballot box since they controlled a huge number of liberal, and conservative and independent swing votes in every election. By being a single-issue constituency attacking from all sides of the political spectrum, they very quickly amassed enough votes (2/3) to pass the amendment in Congress. And, within just 17 months, they were successful in getting ¾ of the state legislatures to ratify the constitutional amendment into law. (Others were ratified even faster: Eight —took less than a year. The 26th, granting 18-year-olds the right to vote, took just three months and eight days.)

If they could tie the left and right into a success - WHY CAN'T WE ??????????

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO ACT ----> JOIN US TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

1
83% of Americans ( and 76% of the Rs ) have already opposed CU in
the ABC/Washington post poll and the above
IS THEIR POSITION ALREADY.
2
We don’t have to work to convince people on the validity of our position.
3
This Amendment { sections 1+2 }is REQUIRED to overturn CU.
And all other electoral reform can be passed through the normal legislative process. 4
OWS and the FORUM pages are chock full of ( mostly ) excellent ideas to improve our country.
All of them have strong advocates – and some have strong opposition.
None of them has been “pre-approved” by 83% of Americans !
Pursuing this goal – is exactly what Americans want.
What do we want? Look at that almost endless list of demands – goals - aims.
Tax the rich. End the Fed. Jobs for all, Medicare for all. So easy to state our demands! Can you imagine how hard it would be to formulate a “sales pitch” for any of these to convince your Republican friends to vote for any of them?
83% of Americans have ALREADY “voted” against CU. And 76% of the Rs did too.
All we have to do ask Americans is to pressure their representatives – by letters - emails – petitions.

Wanna take your family on vacation?
Convince the 7 year old and the 10 year old to go to Mt Rushmore.
Then try to convince them to go to Disneyland.
Prioritizing this goal will introduce us to the world – not as a bunch of hippie radical anarchist socialist commie rabblerousers – but as a responsible, mature movement that is fighting for what America wants.

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO ACT ----> JOIN US TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

I feel that using the tactics of the NRA, the AARP, the TP, the anti-SOPA – who all represent a minority – who have successfully used their voting power and political pressure to achieve their minority goals - plus the Prohibition Amendment tactics – bringing all sides together - is a straight path for us to success that cannot fail to enable us to create and complete one task that the MAJORITY want.

There are at least seventeen different Constitutional Amendments in the works.
Help us support these moves to get the money out of our political system.

Hang around here, you start reading stuff, next thing you know you start learning things, then you start voting for the Democrat. Long before OWS I noticed that if you ask someone if they followed politics first, you knew how they voted, those who follow it vote for Democrats, those that didn’t voted for the GOP.

The president is one part of the overall system. Let us consider also the currently non-functioning part.

Some interesting Food for Thought considerations ….

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

I'm asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

Term Limits.

12 years only, one of the possible options below..

A. Two Six-year Senate terms

B. Six Two-year House terms

C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

In the spirit of promoting awareness and proper functioning to government.

Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/11. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves .

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

Contact your individual representative and senator …

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Maybe it is time .

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!! If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete

I don't "believe" in the OWS agenda or anything else monolithic
I am not a lemming - I think

and I think,
next year we will have EXACTLY President Obama or President Rs

I would prefer Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren
and
I would prefer that my ice cream does not make me fat

BUT

These four men REQUIRE that you vote for Obama

John Roberts +
Antonin Scalia +
Clarence Thomas +
Samuel Alito

If you don’t believe them,
…….ask Newt Gingrich or John McCain about Citizens United
OR
…….ask the family of any soldier killed in Iraq about bush v Gore

OR

Are you afraid to
……tell me why supreme court appointments make no difference ?

If you cannot see the difference between the democrats and the Rs –
.……and believe that President Gore would invade Iraq, or NOT read his PDBs –
…………..………………………………………………..you are blind

If you want to do what Davis & Lee failed to do
……………..……………………………………….…….you are crazy

Oh shut up already with the Dailykossian bullshit and the cut and paste.

Obama is a Repub for cryin' out loud. With a (D) after his name.

Why do you think the (D) makes him on YOUR TEAM?

He's raised more money from Wall Street than Romney and all the Repubs put together.

He is your enemy, not your friend.

The Dempublican Party or Republicrat Party or whatever you want to call the One Party rule in this country needs to end.

Why are you spending ONE TINY BIT of energy supporting it?

Obama was a con job and a fraud, and he lied to you and made a fool out of you. Yet here you are, spouting off on behalf of the man who fucking conned you. WTF?

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

I asked you a question. ……tell me why supreme court appointments make no difference ? do you know the answer or do you just want to rant for david & charles ?

[-] 1 points by Nordic (390) 12 years ago

Right now you are supporting an international terrorist named Barack Obama:

http://www.thebureauinvestigates.com/2012/02/04/obama-terror-drones-cia-tactics-in-pakistan-include-targeting-rescuers-and-funerals/

And why are you wasting your time here trying to get people to vote for Mr. Foregone Conclusion Obama? You really think one of these members of the Clown Brigade (which are waved in our faces to make us find Obama acceptable) is REALLY gonna win the Presidency?

Wake the fuck up.

[-] 1 points by Nordic (390) 12 years ago

If the only reason you want to keep the current system with its One Party rule is so we can have a few Good Republicans instead of a few Bad Republicans in the SCOTUS, when they only die out every few years, you are an extremely pathetic browbeaten person who is apparently willing to accept a complete quasi-fascist takeover of his own country in order to have a little HOPE that someday the SCOTUS might actually change things and throw out the people who appointed them?

Do I have that right?

Yes, I do.

Put your energies into CHANGE, not the neo-fascist status-quo.

Thanks.
