I found this article very accessible and won't take even half a cup of coffee to read. There is a good base of knowledge expressed here that will help clarify some of what lies beneat the OWS movement in my opinion.

Occupy Wall Street is a people-powered movement that began on September 17, 2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District, and has spread to over 100 cities in the United States and actions in over 1,500 cities globally. #ows is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations. The movement is inspired by popular uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, and aims to expose how the richest 1% of people are writing the rules of an unfair global economy that is foreclosing on our future.

Form what I can tell ... the genisis of OWS is with David Degraw (AmpedStatus) and "Reporting from the Frontlines of World War III: The Economic Elite Vs. The People". Which was pickup/promoted and supported by the unknown people behind anonymous/zerohedge/wikileaks.

Initially co-opted by adbusters ... a new left/noam chomsky organization pushing for direct democracy ... which will be used in a push for a unified global governence.

And since co-opts by the traditional left ... marxists.

The real question is who pulls the strings of the NYCGA ... who are the people/organizations behind anonymous/zerohedge/wikileaks ... and what are their intentions.

Tangled web. Maybe you've seen this already. Let me know if you can make any sense of it.

I've also heard some theories that the anarchists are only concerned with throwing the sand up in the air. They aren't interested in how it lands. They just want to cause as much chaos as possible. After that, their job is done, the rest of us have to clean up the mess.

It is a movement founded upon Anarchist (don't let the negative connotation scare you off) principles in order to arouse anger and chaos over the current financial crisis and what caused it.

From my perspective the purpose was to attack apathy ingrained in the common person's psyche in regards to what is happening between the relationship of our government and the supposedly private financial institution.

Everything else you hear about is just an extension of it created by sympathetic individuals looking for an outlet for their own agendas (student loans, living wages, ending wars, planting gardens, higher wages for union workers etc...).

I was also looking for a purpose at one point but quickly realized the purpose of OWS had already been achieved. What happens from here on out is anyone's guess.

nice propaganda you've got going there. trying to act like you actually were once a supporter or the movement. lol

I can understand your fear given the amount of posts intent on doing so but the propaganda assertion is uncalled for. What part of my statement is propaganda and why would you assume I no longer support OWS when I've already declared it a success in my opinion?
