John Lewis is one the great soldiers for the 99%. In regards to voting of course he has sacrificed and fought for decades. But in regards to all progressive change that the 99% needs he is a leader to be emulated, supported and lifted up!

Thx for recognizing.

Excellent post

[-] -2 points by OWSversionOfshooz (-3) 12 years ago

Why are you afraid to take part in OWS and Occupy Obama?

http://occupywallst.org/article/chicago-occupyobama/

[-] 2 points by Forrester (13) 12 years ago

I am well aware of the courage that Congressman Lewis D had in being a Freedom Rider as a youth, and the exemplary virtues he displayed in having forgiven the man who beat him to a pulp in a South Carolina bus station. He was also the youngest speaker (early 20s) at MLK's 1963 March on Washington which my dad attended.

To take Mr. Lewis's extraordinary character, and then extrapolate from it that this defiant movement should turn down the path of partisan politics is a 'reach,' and a misguided one at that.

[-] 2 points by LetsGetReal (1420) from Grants, NM 12 years ago

I vote for the person, not the party.

[-] 2 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

I vote of the issues not the person

what did John Lewis Do?

[-] 0 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

which party specializes in voter suppression?
which party is owned by the koch brothers?
which party has been busy with birther crap?
which party has wasted our government trying to control women?
which party has not had a truly honorable man in the Whitehouse since Ike?

and - yes - I agree with you.

I just find the Rs - pardon the pun - totally revolting

[-] 4 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

Both parties have supported foreign policy that has killed millions of people in foreign countries since the 1990's

I also vote for the person... not for the party.

Contribution based politics are bullshit.

[-] 3 points by beautifulworld (23822) 12 years ago

You tell 'em Trevor.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Republicans are the war mongering party. The dems have always been the anti war party! For decades they have been labeled as such and have suffered many losses at the voting booth for that commitment.

What are you talkin about?. Sounds like false equivalency to cover for you republican war mongers.

[-] 2 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

They lied us into Vietnam and cost 60k young people their lives you hypocrite.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

1/2 a century ago? Wow that is reaching. But good you brought it up. It was the poor behavior of politicians during that war that turned one party into the anti war party.

The other party doubled down on war mongering.

We don't have mention which and upset the closet ones, but....

Can you guess which?

[-] 2 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

The Forum Mascot makes his entrance to the usual rambling of calling Occupiers that want change Republicans.

You would fit right in with the MSM.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

"mascot"? demeaning. You lose again!.

I've been respectful and civil. I ain't called you nothing. You mentioned parties. I mentioned issues.

Aren't your arguments strong enough to stay with the facts and civil?

Poor thing.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

The mascot is mounting his unicycle, getting ready for his 1pm show.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Please don't start with the childish insults.

Have you given up on intelligent discussion and reverted back to middle schoolyard bullying tactics?

LMFAO!!

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

Mascots tend to think anti establishment people, otherwise known as occupiers, are actually Republicans.

Thats why they are mascots and not actual players. They dont have the skills needed.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I ain't called you nothing!

You have given up intelligent discussion because your weak arguments can't stand up to the truth.

So you once again (as always) you resort to the middle schoolyard bullying tactics of ........

LMFAO!

Time for your nap perhaps? Take it easy. 'sok. Retreat, to fight another day.

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

Overuse of LMFAO as usual just shows how out of touch you are.

Me arguing with you is like adults talking with children. There is no winning. One person is on a higher level of understand than the other, so its actually a net loss.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Waaaah! Waaaaaah!

mommy he took my toy!

LOL. LMFAO. Bwaa Haa Ha Ha!

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

The mascot is melting down. Finally.

Can someone put an ad on CL for another mascot? This one is flaming out.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Well thank you very much. But flattery will not be effective in getting me to agree with your weak arguments! Just as your middle school insults are ineffective as well.

No intelligent contributions hc?

Are you crying?

[-] 1 points by MattLHolck (16833) from San Diego, CA 12 years ago

I can't post on that forum

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

Why would I be crying? Because I feel so sorry for you?

GEt back on that unicycle and get your ass through that hoop of fire!!

[-] -1 points by Forrester (13) 12 years ago

"They don't have the skills needed," or the cajones.......

[-] 0 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

cajones can make up for a lack of intelligence, true.

I think when you have neither, they call that a politician.

[-] 0 points by Forrester (13) 12 years ago

Agreed, and when you have neither of those attributes, and you then take bribes, like almost all politicians do, you then understand why our problems cannot be solved in the voting booth.

[-] 2 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

Ask the over 1 million people that died in Iraq during Clinton's administration.

Ask the over 1 million people that died in Iraq during the Bush administration.

You should look into Iraq bombs and Sanctions under Clinton. And you should look into the Iraq bombing and occupation under Bush.

You should look at the destroyed cities in Libya where NATO recklessly bombed civilians in the name of saving civilians.

Afghanistan had it's highest civilian death toll in 2010. Less than one year after Obama ordered more troops into Afghanistan.

You need to read facts.

WAR IS MURDER. WAR IS WRONG. Just because your candidate of choice is president doesn't make war good and amazing.

War is not peace. Drones strikes are not peace. Murdering civilians is not acceptable at any level.

[-] 0 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

War is bad. I am against war.

  • republicans are the war mongering party.

  • Dems have always been the anti war party.

  • Clinton only warred in bosnia to help muslims.

  • The Clinton era no fly zone in Iraq did not kill a million people. That is ridiculous.

I'm against the war in Afghan, I'm glad Pres Obama is ending that Bush war.

No more war. "war is over, if you want it" JL

[-] 2 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

Obama supported the invasion of Afghanistan and it was backed with bipartisan support. Obama also put more troops there when he took office.

Iraq was more split but AUMF still passed with bipartisan support.

The deaths of 500,000 children in Iraq - "Worth it" - Madeline Albright - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2irN1G5HiRo

This is just children.

Don't dismiss truth. It doesn't help anyone but the war machine.

Did the sanctions work?

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Sanctions began under Bush I

Albright has just (2003) published her memoirs, Madam Secre tary, in which she clarifies her statement. Here’s what she writes:

"I must have been crazy; I should have answered the question by reframing it and pointing out the inherent flaws in the premise behind it. "Saddam Hussein could have prevented any child from suffering simply by meeting his obligations.... As soon as I had spoken, I wished for the power to freeze time and take back those words. My reply had been a terrible mistake, hasty, clumsy and wrong. Nothing matters more than the lives of innocent people. I had fallen into the trap and said something I simply did not mean." p 275.

In the paragraph before this one she complains about the 60 Minutes report because “little effort was made to explain Saddam’s culpability, his misuse of Iraqi resources, or the fact that we were not embargoing medicine or food.”

It was Saddam Huseins of iraqs fault not Americas. Stop pushing this lie.

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

Yeah... and it's Al Qaeda's fault when drone strikes also take out civilians.

Sanctions and bombs are counter productive when they hurt and kill civilians and destroy civilian economies.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I'm against drone bombings. I support diplomatic solutions.

[-] 2 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

Sanctions are not diplomatic

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Don't we use sanctions with the rest of the world against a country that is not behaving properly?

Why is that bad.?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Isn't the Iraqi govt responsible for it's 500,000 dead children. They weren't killed with our bombs, They died because of starvation, and health issues.

Your comments are dishonest!

Obama ended Bushes illegal oil war in Iraq, And he is ending the Afghan war. That is what I want. I am against war I am supporting the President who is ending the wars.

You are attacking the Pres who is ending the wars.

no third party candidate will win ▬►

no third party candidate will do any thing for America▬►

I will not vote for the anti-gay party▬►
I will not vote for the anti-choice party▬►
I will not vote for the koch party▬►
I will not vote for the 1% party▬►

I vote for the electable people who will fight AGAINST the above

I have voted for Rs in the past, but none today

you, of course can vote for someone who makes you FEEL good

[-] 2 points by LetsGetReal (1420) from Grants, NM 12 years ago

My question wasn't about third party candidates. You said you agreed with my statement about voting for the person rather than the party. Too bad you see the world in such black and white terms.

[-] -1 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

Its not what I see - it is what the Rs - and the 1% have painted

The dems followers are just as blind.

Those 1%'ers just love what a little paint can accomplish.

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 12 years ago

those are the worst excuses to vote for a party or to not vote for someone

we have voted third party people all the time hell a Communist was voted into congress

Which member of the Communist Party was elected to congress?
OR
are you an alan west believer?

[-] 1 points by DanielBarton (1345) 12 years ago

it was in the 70-90s i forget the guys name but independents have been elected.

idk anything about alan west

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 12 years ago

IMHO - any point - no matter how illogical is better supported by honest FACTS
Of course, one of the best in the senate is an (I) = Bernie Sanders hopefully to be joined by Elizabeth Warren (D)

PRESIDENTIAL voting for anyone but a D or R is voting for an un-electable

[-] 2 points by DanielBarton (1345) 12 years ago

so history says but parties have emerged and moved around. when looking back at the old parties in the mid 1800 so it is time for a new parties to take the stage.

to alan west comment about how the 80 members are communist obviously he is wrong but there was someone elected when communism was a big ideal thing to go for . i cant seem to find it with all the shit on the fucking internet but o well i remember him being there and laughing.

Have fun voting for evil, supporting evil, and relying on evil. The next generation says WTF.

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

The age of the party is irrelevant. Their positions on the issues is what matters. The corruption of money in politics is what matters! 3rd parties are frozen out and cannot win until we get money out of politics and change election/campaign law.

And of course sheep are not rebels by definition. Right?

None of your statement makes sense.

Bensdad makes sense! You make noise.

[-] 3 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 12 years ago

What is their position on drone strikes?

What is their position on the NSA spying on American citizens and tracking and storing 1.7 billion forms of electronic communication from American citizens?

What is their position on reinstating Glass Steagall? Is it on their platform?

Why aren't they putting forth an amendment to the constitution that will null the citizens united decision right now? Or over the past years?

Where do they stand on the police state surrounding the DNC?

[-] 1 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

"mascot"? "idiocy"? name calling just betrays your weak arguments.

Please refrain.

It's not my fault you made the mistake of suggesting sheep are a "rebel force"

If that doesn't show clearly your inability to understand basic concepts nothing does! LMFAO

[-] 1 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 12 years ago

Sheep are actually unruly in their real nature, when alone. But they follow the herd easily when in groups.

A stampede of sheep, like you, destined to keep us in the status quo.

Could we perhaps get you a white fluffy costume? haha... Maybe some white puffy ears too? hahahahah....

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Sheep are not a rebel force! The analogy doesn't work! Using it reflects your lack of understanding of a basic concept. I don't have to argue the point. You won't convince me it is correct.

It is wrong, & you are wrong, just as you are wrong that Pres Obama is a war criminal.!

[-] 2 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

No, 'hchc' is NOT wrong if he calls 'Obomber' a "War Criminal" !!!

quod erat demonstrandum ...

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

Everyone is entitled to their opinion! But I believe a court must make such a ruling.

Or is it just Al Awlaki that you think deserves a trial before guilt is assigned.?

[-] 0 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

No court has the courage to take The POTUS to task & you must know that - although it is heartening to me that the likes of Dubya Bush and Tory BLiar can not walk the streets anywhere in the world without real risk of a Citizen's Arrest for WAR crimes !

Al Awlaki & his son were extra-judicially murdered & tenuous notions of "deserve" are as subjective as "opinions" - with little basis in reason, logic or law - but hey ... "Everyone is entitled to their opinion", right ? You seem up for killing people on a whim - but if you live in The Usurped States of Amnesiacs -so things like that are ok there it seems !!

Ever heard of Pastor Niemoller ?!!!

ad iudicium ...

[-] 4 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I am not "up for killing people on a whim" That is twisting my position!

I am against the drone bombings, I have, and will continue protesting against all pols regarding this, civil rights violations, and all military action connected to resource wars/war on terror.

I only disagree with the unsubstantiated extremist attack that Pres Obama is a war criminal!!!!

Pres Obama has reduced US military killing from 1 million+ to thousands. He WILL continue this path and momentum and will end the republican war on terror.

[-] 1 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

Oi - STOP 'Making out like Monica' for Obomber & who's "twisting" ?!!! Don't try that shit with me when you just said "Or is it just Al Awlaki that you think deserves a trial before guilt is assigned ?" !! Do what you must but "what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander" & trust me - you do NOT want me on your case too !

ad iudicium ...

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

I do not shrink from threats.

I am not "up for killing people on a whim" You said I was. That is not true. I said so.

If that means I must put up with threats, or more unreasonable attacks. Then I will. I will not be bullied by you into agreeing with your incorrect statement that I am "up for killing people on a whim".

I am not! I never said I am! I have said I am against all the drone bombings. I have been protesting war for decades.

You are wrong.! You wanna get on my case.? Please don't not necessary! Won't change the facts.

I won't be bullied!

[-] 1 points by shadz66 (19985) 12 years ago

Interesting developments & I'm beginning to see others' 'pov' about you a li'l better now.

Provocatively, I said - "You seem up for killing people on a whim" - which on a moment's reflection was fair in response to your 'provocation' of - "Or is it just Al Awlaki that you think deserves a trial ..." and if you have a modicum of good sense, you'll start to calm down and try to see what I'm saying. If you can't take the 'cut and thrust' of debate and feel 'threatened' - then don't "shrink" and don't be "bullied" ... just keep talking to yourself !!!

temet nosce ...

[-] 2 points by VQkag2 (16478) 12 years ago

You resorted to threats "trust me - you do NOT want me on your case too !"

I didn't do that. Whats the problem?. Do I have to say I agree I'm ok killing people on a whim.?

I'm sorry I can't do it. It isn't true.

Can we get beyond that childishness?.

Please remain respectful. Please avoid the threats, I would never dream of threatening you.

You said "I'm beginning to see others' 'pov' about you a li'l better now". Try to understand these are the right wing war mongers who are pressuring you to attack VQ.

You must resist. We must continue diplomacy. Don't you see peaceful coexistence must start on an individual basis.

No more war.! "War is over, if you want it" JL

"Don't drone bomb me bro'"

Peace, Love, & understanding (whasso funny 'bout it?)

Hi shadz66, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I would like to remind you that VQkag2 and you are both members of Team Twinkle, AKA Partisan Powers. You're supposed to twinkle each other, not attack each other! Odin, hchc, and I are preparing an epic battle against you guys. As you know, we are The Crew For OWS Factuality, AKA Bridge To The Ground. My hope is that your team is in full force for our battle, as such, please refrain from weakening your ranks with internal battles. VQkag2 represents the official position of your team, i.e. support for Obama. Please keep in line with that, and duly prepare your counter-arguments for our position which is that this forum should forge links to the ground protesters and promote a fight against corruption from outside the system instead of your teams theory that we should fight from the inside by pushing for Obama. Thank you.
