let me ask you this: if you are 60 yrs old or so, did you welcome the changes that the protests would have brought you in the late 1960's? did you stand behind the burning of the draft card, and the teardown of the establishment "man"? These kids are no different in NYC currently, they want answers, they want accountability, and they want change....the same as your generation who hated the 60 yr olds of your time.........HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF!!

all these kids are asking for is a chance to be heard, the same as you did back in the 60's.....calling them "lazy", "hippies", "dirty", "disrespectful", "unpatriotic", "traitors", is also history repeating itself.....stop and think how you felt because no one took you "seriously".......use your knowledge of the events that played out for your lives to help steer them, not put them down or treat them like animals.....this land is our land, "remember"?

Yes! Wise words. And 100% true. History DOES repeat itself.

The difference is/was, a specific demand (get us out of Vietnam) to a specific person (the Presidents - Johnson, Nixon) who had the power to get us out of Vietnam.

I agree these kids are no different, but whether they like it or not, to create the change they think they are seeking, they have to get organized and figure out what they are demanding, from who, and present a mechanism for the change they seek.

It's probably wise not try to predict what anybody else may or may not be seeking. It's too prejudicial.

Daily organization and delegation of responsibilities in the park clearly does not seem to be a problem either.

Of the known demands, they've pointed to the systemic dysfunction between government and big finance, in varying bullet points. (extrapolated of course..) They're pointed at Wall st. , and Washington D.C.

And the mechanism, is actually reinstatement of the political and economic mechanisms that have been removed since the late 1940's. Not a new 'policy'.

Or, at least, that's what I came away with, from arguments made to me.

The hippies of the 60's are the complacent fat cats who forgot where they came from. They protested agains the MAN, no they have become the MAN, so they turn their backs on this movement because they want to protect what they have!!!!
