Ok, so if you are stalking me, and then get out of the car in the rain and approach me, I may kick your ass. Hopefully the situation works itself out before that point.

SYG states that you dont have to retreat, if threatened.

So Trayvon stood his ground. One guy got out of a car and approached, the other was already walking on the road.

All of that being said.....

If I figure this dude is coming after me and I then attack him preemptively, well, I better hope this guy doesnt have a gun or a knife.

What if I over reacted? What if this guy was literally only to ask questions? What if he had no intention of doing anything that would bring violence?

But I figured he did, so I clocked him in the face?

Well, just because you have the right to stand your ground, doesnt then mean that that person cannot defend him/herself.

And thats where we are with this case. How did the fight happen? We have one side of the story. Who started it? Thats it. Did Trayvon flip out on him, and attack him first? Or did Zimmerman come up on him and shove him, starting the fight?

Theres a reason professional criminals kill the witnesses.

Most of the time, people who are arrested for things that they actually did probably would have preferred that event didn't happen. (George Zimmerman got arrested for killing someone, even if the jury decided that he did not commit a crime.)

In this case Zimmerman might even benefit from it because so many people donated for his legal fees, but that's partly because of the movement to get him charged of a crime and in general conflict is seen as a bad thing.

Correct. Generally whoever throws the first punch loses in a court of law. You can curse me all day, but when you throw a punch you become the aggressor and the other person the victim.

This type of case happens ALL THE TIME in courts.

Theres 16k murders a year in this country. Chances are there has been at least 5 murders in your city since the verdict, if you live near a big one. Know any of the names? Prob not.
