Forum Post: If the conservatives take the Senate, then the coming depression will occur sooner and more severe.

Most of us can agree that conservative economic policies, in general, are bad for the lower majority of Americans. We can agree that they contribute heavily to wealth concentration and related economic instability. They led directly to the Great Depression and the Great Recession. They have been preventing a true recovery.

We have two weeks to prevent conservatives from taking control of the Senate. If they do, then the coming US/Global depression will occur sooner and more severe.

It's coming regardless. It will be well underway by 2020. That is a solemn promise. Unless we want it sooner, we better get to work on a much wider audience.

I don't know how far and wide any of you work to get the message out. But we have opportunities to do so in every major city. Please call into your local talk radio shows repeatedly over the next two weeks. Be sure to have your best arguments ready and be prepared for the opposing arguments. Virtually every talk radio host in the country is die-hard conservative. They continue to rot brain cells as we type. Craigslist (craigslist.org) is anonymous, user friendly, and very popular with campaigners. The entries are web searchable. They are being made in every major city as we type.

Get the message out any way you can. We have two weeks to help delay the coming US/Global depression by a few years if we're lucky.

I've been busy along with others in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Akron, Los Angeles, Denver and Washington. There are so many more areas to cover and very little time to do so.

TPP?

TransPacific Partnership. This trade agreement will usher in an Era of Global Corporate Rule that will set aside the Sovereignty of the US in a manner similar to the Hapless Countries which joined the European Union-only FAR WORSE.The most noteworthy Function of the TPP will be to prevent any Signatory to the Treaty from creating any Law or Regulation of ANY kind that will damage or interfere with the ability of Corporations to pursue and realize Profits. No Antitrust law.No Health or Safety Regulations. No Occupational Safety Regs.No environmental Regs.No Immigration law.No Organized Labor. No legal definitions of purity or effecacy for drugs, medical treatments or devices. No laws or Regs related to labeling, standards or advertising. No laws or Regs related to Child Labor or Animal Cruelty.A Signatory that interferes with Corporate pursuit of Profit will be liable for Damages in special courts established by the TPP.The TPP would also probably seek to stop any activities such as people repairing their own cars, catching Rainwater in Barrels or Buckets,or attempting to use herbal remedies to treat their illnesses.TPP would require complete privatization of postal services, utilities, schools, roads, prisons, police, fire and Erescue-including sale of all roads, bridges and public parks. These are just a few of the ways we will soon be Enslaved by the Corporate Overlords.IMO,it will turn out to be unworkable bc it will drive the cost of living up beyond the ability of the 99% to cope.

Occupy must be the voice of the working class...I believe it has been a loud voice for the poor but as long as the working class keeps sinking they will become powerless to stop the wealthy from turning us all into a service sector class/ indentured citizens. We will all become poor and once you are your voice is all but silenced. We have to first focus on the downward slide...tpp is a good place to focus effort. It will be the demise of upward mobility or even treading water...it will kill us.

Once in place, the invasive nature of Corporatist Rule will be taken to the absolute Outer Limits.Barter will be Criminalized.Sales of used goods could be limited or banned.Mending clothing could be seen as an attack on the ability of Corporations to realize Profits. Also vegetable gardens, home manicures, reuse of paper or plastic bags.Operating a well on privately owned property in an area where water has been Privatized could result in Cease & Desist letters from Corporate Lawyers. One of the first things that must be expected is an attack on the practice of using computer equipment or phones for longer than 3 years. They can,and will create a system where people will have their devices and equipment rendered inoperable upon connecting to the Internets when Corporate Profiteering requires that users replace them.Since people commonly replace equipment when it becomes unusable,Corporate Profits are damaged by people's tendency to care for and maintain their belongings in order to maximize utility of expensive goods. The Insurance Industry is doing well.It is now illegal to forego health, auto, motorcycle or boat insurance in most places.People who are in business are required by law to carry a variety of Insurance Policies that are extremely costly. All 50 States are subject to flooding,so mandatory Flood Insurance could be next. There are many other things that are not yet mandated for insurance.Mortgage Insurance is not mandated.Apartment Insurance,Burial Insurance,Bicycle Insurance,Homeowner's Insurance,Pet Insurance,Life Insurance, and Long Term Care Insurance are all Non Mandated at this time. The best way for Insurance Companies to Realize Maximum Profit is to make ita Crime to not have Insurance,Why would they stop pushing Insurance Mandates when they create a Tsunami of Profits for the Insurance Industry? Answer:they won't stop until every possible human activity is made Illegal without Insurance.

I completely agree with you a supreme court decision allowing mandates for the purchase of a private product ( insurance) sets a nasty precedent. They have tied it to taxes ...so a private company reports to the irs if indeed we are paying ....if we aren't then a fine is added to your tax bill...insane!!!! This can land you in jail if you don't pay your taxesnot to mention wage garnishments and liens. Now Martha Coakley refused to put a gmo labeling bill on Massachusetts ballot because she claimed it is not in governments bounds to enforce or regulate fines for non compliance... which the bill would have required. Yet the mandated insurance law came through Mass.... Crazy. So refusal to prevent treading while enforcing private purchases and maximizing private profit.

Massachusetts just elected a former insurance ceo to the governors seat...how stupid can people be. Geee wonder what new laws people shall be surprised with in the great nanny / mandate origin state. People blame the nannying on government well yeah when you elect ceo's who are there to change laws to maximize profits there are going to be a lot of new regulations to maximize private/ insurance company profits. That's how the seat belt law was passed...it saved insurance companies money paying out on injuries. People don't put two and two together. The limits are boundless. I often post about what I term FORCED RELIANCE which is controlling and hording resources or monopolizing markets and the selling them back to us at fixed inflated prices...or as in your example mandating that we must have them. Take for example electrical code. Companies invent products and then get the codes changed so their product must be used. I know an electrician who is disgusted because really the codes aren't for safety...they are to maximize a market for the use of a private product....of course most people don't realize it unless they know about electrical wiring so every year the codes are updated to require a new use for a private product. When the government regulates to create profit...we are all standing on dangerous ground. That is not freedom. When the government regulates you from treading on me ( regulating for example pollution or food safety) they are doing the job we pay them to. There are differences in regulation: regulating for profit and regulating to prevent treading on people. That difference needs to be highlighted and brought to the forefront of our fight.

One of the worst cases of this forced reliance is the RF Spectrum - wireless airways owned by the government were auctioned off to telecom companies for the right to charge the people a fee for something we already owned. This isn't like powerlines were something concrete was built for us to access it ...what should have happened is free airways to all in which we could purchase equipment to access it. Those companies would have had to compete for sales in that equipment ...instead we are all leasing forever to access something the government sold out from under us to a private monopolistic company. It is the equivalent of allowing Disney to slap up gates in front of Yellowstone and charge you a fee to enter (ha....that is probably coming)

Obama has done a Masterful Job of giving everyone in the Country a reason to detest him.I guess that's why Hillary got bumped when it was Her Turn.I guess Uniparty just did not think she would be able to control her Ego well enough to really go overboard on the Whipping Boy /Public Disgrace/Figure of Fun act so they wheeled out Obama. Now the Republicans need to Unleash the Hounds fiercely to build that Wave of Public Indignation that can put Hillary in office. They will be going after Women like Sadistic Psychos, along with lots of other disgusting and outlandish Ass Kicking.

They will be going after Women like Sadistic Psychos

You mean that they haven't been?

Hitlary would be a mistake for being president - a huge mistake - an abomination. Sorry - but that "is" my opinion.

I feel that Hillary might have been promised a Turn. These people are all puppets and are virtually held hostage once they are nominated by one or the other Wing of Uniparty as a Presidential Candidate. Indirect messages are sent to the POTUS,FLOTUS and VPOTUS along with more direct ones. All of these weird security breaches at the WH are Messages to the FFOTUS,IMO.The Message:The whole FF will die in an instant if POTUS fails to Obey. The Clintons also had numerous weird and inexplicable security incidents. Then there is the Classic-"Angel is next."

They can't control it all that well.I started gathering data in 2003 to try to predict the Crash from the Great Mortgage Heist.By 1/1/06 I had enough Data to predict a massive default event which would destroy at least 2 major investment houses along with Lloyd's and AIG.My predictions were off.I predicted that Morgan Stanley and BONY would be wiped out,and that the bank runs and margin calls would commence in the ides of March 2009,George Bush's second term ended on 1/20/09,but IndyMac collapsed on 6/31/08.So they can't control it that good.Right now all of the TBTF are insolvent. The manipulations in the Financial Markets are of a kind nobody has ever seen before, and the predicament that the Fed has created and is now trapped within is unprecedented. The VIX is fixed. The S&P is being propped up.The LME is fixed. The Bond Markets are being controlled by ZIRG and other means. The PPT is now operating pretty much in the open-even Bloomberg and the Daily News are "reporting" its "activities." Every time people start trying to get out,the Market "breaks." TWICE last week and again this week. They have lost control of it.and the Ramp we are seeing now is only happening because they have forced the ECB to agree to help them rig these markets and it's NOT going to work.

[-] 2 points by StillModestCapitalist (343) 10 years ago

There will always be a little instability due to the immoral nature of Wall Street investing to begin with. When you have millions of investors (from the top down of course) who buy and sell based not only on official projections and realizations but also on the latest 'up to the minute' news regarding well, EVERYTHING, people who use a 'short term' investment strategy hoping to cash in on the latest event, you end up with hiccups caused not by market conditions or government policy but by asshole investors who care about nothing whatsoever but their own bottom lines at the end of each and every minute of each and every day.

THESE PEOPLE ARE ASSHOLES.

Aside from that and the S&P being 'propped up' or the markets 'rigged', every single detail you mention in your entry is tied to the overall distribution of wealth.

I was also predicting the big market crash privately as early as 2004 and publicly as early as August of 2005 when I made my first related call to talk radio. From day one, I guaranteed that it would occur within 5 years. I also made a number of predictions regarding foreclosures in '06', serious market instability in the spring of '07', the failed Bush stimulus, the automaker bankruptcies, and the recession itself which I predicted within weeks of it's official beginning. I made these predictions all over talk radio subjecting myself to ridicule and name calling from all of the hosts and many of the callers. I also got two accounts cancelled at AOL in '06' because I was all over their chatrooms ripping on the richest 1% and blaming them for widespread hardship and the coming market crash.

But I'm not a data junkie like yourself (I don't mean that as insult. I'm simply referring to the science of number crunching.) I'm just a first quarter ninth grade dropout with no special skills whatsoever aside from backyard carpentry, backyard athletics, and reading between the lines. That's no exaggeration. I have literally NOTHING to cite on a resume other than physical labor and a summer of kitchen management at a steak house.

My point is that when a first quarter ninth grade dropout with no special skills or experience whatsoever can make a number of market predictions about as well as a number cruncher, you know that 'something' within the model is relatively simple yet profound.

I've said it a thousand times and I will say it a thousand more. That 'something' is the growing concentration of wealth. There is no government policy, no financial intervention, and no magic bullet whatsoever capable of getting around the big fat COW.

The rich are too rich.

The issue is not being addressed therefore the market will crash and the US/Global economy will tank. We are in for a crisis considerably worse than anything seen in over 80 years.

We recovered from the last Great Depression because of WWII and government policies designed specifically to redistribute a double digit portion of privately held US wealth. Otherwise, there would have been no recovery at all.

I don't see that happening ever again. The rich have become far too evil and the masses far too stupid. They are far beyond reach. As long as oxygen makes it's way to the majority of human brains alive today, they will be screwing the pooch either as manipulators or morons. If by some miracle another significant redistribution of wealth from rich to poor ever takes place, it will be from the rubble of a societal crash unlike anything seen since the fall of the Roman Empire.

Also caused by greed.

It IS the problem. PURE EVIL.

The worst economic crisis of all time, much worse than the Great Recession will be well underway by 2020. That is a solemn promise.

You are correct,StillMod-I very much agree.Whether all of those traders are evil people.I don't know, though.I don't know even if the whole thing.healthy or rigged is even Absolutely Necessary.I do not understand it AT ALL.The only thing I do is what THEY do-watch for patterns. It used to be hard. Not anymore.I don't have much in the way of education either.Art School-LOL! Your take on the situation is well considered and very Rational, imo. It has been Fear that led me to become interested in all of these issues, just before 9/11 when the Bond Vigilantes where run off The Street. That filled me with Dread.Lawsuits upon Lawsuits have been filed over every single one of these Illegalties,High Crimes,Treason-all of it.If there is a High Profile Plaintiff like Chris Hedges.it is thrown out at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals level. All the rest are ejected before that.We are talking about around 1000 attempts to get this Shitshow into open court.I know you are aware that Power relinquishes NOTHING willingly. There are 3 groups that can do something about all of this. The Europeans could crash the System. They are MIA.The Chinese People could crash the System. The threat of Genocide is very Real. The American People can crash the System.By rights,it is our responsibility. They won't wake up until a Dire Calamity stops them from being able to Gas Up their beloved Vehicles. They are a Sleeping Giant. It is the Destiny of said Giant to be Rudely Awakened. What kind of Mood will The Giant be in when it wakes up and Discovers what the Elites and their Tools have done? Right now,the uneducated Poors are saying they would like to see the 1% slaughtered and Robbed.Never before have the Poors spoken that way.Never.The history of the Great Depression has been Sanitized.Moar than a Million people died in that Shitshow,in the US alone.A Picnic in the Park with Teddy Bears compared to what's coming. After the Fall comes Winter-stay safe.

It is not quite true that they did not have much control. The U.S. monetary authorities did a great job for the rich by holding off the 2008 collapse for at least one and a half years until the newly tightened bankruptcy law came into effect. Now defaulted student loans will be collected by deducting social security payments in the former students' retirement years. Pet foods for the elderly may become their new-and-improved retirement nest-egg.

As the U.S. stops its money printing through quantitative easing, the central bank of Japan, BOJ, steps forward to take its place. That should delay the reckoning more. The new plan has arrived. It is the same as the old plan but with yen instead of dollar manna for the rich.

If the politics swings even more towards putting idiotic do-nothing folks in control, we can expect even worse things to come. Many state and local pension plans will have their benefits cut down.

I gave up on CL because of all the trolls and constant infections in my computer.

Tell me they did something about this.

[-] 0 points by StillModestCapitalist (343) 10 years ago

I don't know about any infections or similar issues with Craigslist. I use a 9 year old laptop on dial-up and I have no technical issues whatsoever on that site. My line is tapped and has been for a long time but that's another issue entirely.

Hi feds. Yes I still have a big mouth and busy fingers, yes I still hate the rich with a bleeding passion, but no I haven't killed any of them or their idiot fans. It wouldn't do my cause any good.

The flag-happy trolls, mostly die-hard conservative cowards are still running wild all over Craigslist. If you're any good at debating conservatives, then plan on getting a shit load of your entries flagged. I've had so many flagged that I finally created a number of blog pages devoted to my flag-happy coward critics. One for Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, New York, Akron, Appleton, and Hartford so far. Most of my improperly flagged entries are reposted to their relevant coward critic blog pages.

For example: Http://MyCriticsInChicagoAreCowards.Blogspot.com

Now, they will remain web searchable for years to come.

Please get to work on Craigslist. The flag-happy trolls are an issue but they do get tired on occasion.

That place is the gutter of political dialogue, possibly the dumbest bunch of people- on both sides- I have ever seen.

It is very quick fire discourse though, which is fun. Other than that, there are so many die hard loyalists on each side on there its like shooting fish in a barrel debating them.

[-] 1 points by StillModestCapitalist (343) 10 years ago

True but there are some heavy hitters as well. Check out Oliver Thoreau's entries in NY and Berkeley's entries in San Francisco. I don't agree with either on every issue but free thinkers aren't supposed to agree on every issue. Those two are my favorite CL posters to date. One of my critics in Chicago is very well read and written also but as a die-hard conservative, he is utterly predictable.

[-] -1 points by WSmith (2698) from Cornelius, OR 10 years ago

Had it with CL and their complete lack of supervision and dereliction toward the the troll abuse. It has many advantages in format, and the political (not a eunuch at an orgy like OWS has) policy, but the flagging hassle was overboard.

[-] 2 points by turbocharger (1756) 10 years ago

Lets just get it over with already. Bring it on, lets do it. Better now than later.

[-] 2 points by StillModestCapitalist (343) 10 years ago

The coming depression? It scares the hell out of me. I've had nightmares about it. Just a few months ago, I had one where I'm at my parent's house watching the news. They are reporting on some sort of financial collapse and all the sudden we hear screaming outside. We look out the window and see people rioting right there in the street. Obviously, the effects of a depression won't be that sudden but they may become that severe.

There will be another depression. I'm not sure there will be another recovery within our lifetime. In fact, I'm sure there will never be a true recovery. That's why I'm all for delaying it by a few more years if possible.

[-] 3 points by turbocharger (1756) 10 years ago

Through great pain comes great gains. It might be ugly, but the sooner its over the sooner the next generation can start rebuilding it. Im more of a bandaid yanker than the slow and delicate approach.

It hurts more, but while everyone else is still dicking around, Im already off and onto the next thing.

[-] 1 points by StillModestCapitalist (343) 10 years ago

If only we could be assured that the next generation will do the proper rebuilding. I have my doubts. The vast overwhelming majority of teens and twenty-somethings seem far more interested in the next 'it' gadget than anything else. Well, that and the ass of their favorite celebrity. As far as I can tell, they desperately want their hands on both.

I will say this for your angle. A decade or so of extreme and widespread hardship will knock the idiot masses down to Earth.

Unfortunately, they will remain stupid.

[-] 2 points by turbocharger (1756) 10 years ago

Humanity certainly doesnt have the best track record, following one psycho to another since inception, but gotta keep the faith.. Night.

[-] 1 points by JPB950 (2254) 10 years ago

I'm not at all convinced that there is a significant difference between the parties. Both require vast sums of money that corrupt the process. Politicians of either party care more about their reelection then their constituents. While the Democrats appear better, they too work for the wealthy. They support just enough programs for the poor to keep them docile while the gap between rich and poor widens. There will never be serious reform while a majority of the poor are kept placated.

With two weeks left and the momentum going with the Republicans it's unlikely their wave will be stopped. Conservatives may very well put policies in place that seriously oppress the poor, create an economic depression, and lead to wide spread misery. It's at that time, a significant majority might finally become upset enough to call for real change. You just have to be ready with a viable alternative and not another group of Democratic politicians offering table scraps and a return to the status quo.

This recovery has been very weak and the average person knows it. They realize that government controlled economies and policies don't work and the ebola crisis is just the latest in a long string of government ineptitude. People have to get back to work and free market policies are the only way to do it.
