No one does trickle down for the rich better than Obama.
Always look out for the good looking politician with a nice smile. A great salesman can convince you of almost everything.
Especially if they control the media.
Yep " rockefeller republican" ...good article and so we have a wwf match ...which one is playing the good guy now? Left right...oh they are body slamming the citizenry and we are playing the bad guys...sorry my head his sore and I'm dizzy from having my neck in a headlock for the last 15 years. That's right protesters pooping on cars, raping eachother in tents...we are bad...so bad.
I'm no expert on New York's former Governor Nelson Rockefeller, but I do know that he was considered a liberal Republican, which was a problem for him because he still had aspirations of becoming President. So all that came to a crashing halt (IMO) when he enacted the unprecedented and draconian Rockefeller Drug Laws. Those laws were emulated throughout the country, and gave rise to mass incarceration that was beginning to gain steam at about that time (late'60s). I guess that dichotomy was probably the reason that Cornel West once called Obama a "Rockefeller Republican."
I would bet that except for that major blunder in which he wanted to satiate the growing right-wing, that Rockefeller's record in NY would have been far to the left of Obama's.
So yes, I agree, that both them and their peers have been "body slamming the citizenry," for far too long. Good post.

You're right, the Attica Prison riots in which 43 people died preceeded Rockefeller's brutal drug laws by about a year and a half. EDIT; The savage extinguishing of the up-rising was probably the first major salvo in Rockefeller's tranformation into a hard-liner.
Here's some history on how we got here. I think that it's inarguable that when the Republicans moved hard to the right, that they brought the Democrats along with them.
